"It’s difficult to bring Super FX Chip titles to Virtual Console, hence we have never distributed them via the Virtual Console service up till today."
Emulators have gotten the Super FX pretty down now for over a decade, and Nintendo says they JUST figured out how to do it? I don't believe it.

no super fx games? this is a joke, right? i stopped supporting nintendo years ago, but still, this is a joke, right?

I would not worry about that since there will most likely be many people that will miss out on getting a mini SNES due to scalping. You only have to take a look at eBay and the console is already being sold at ridiculous prices even though eBay's policy is for people to advertise an item up to one month before it comes out. The mini SNES is about three months from release.

Personally, I would like to be proven wrong but if the mini NES is anything to go by I don't think I am especially when you consider that the mini SNES would be a more "attractive" item.

As someone who sells a lot on ebay I would be wary buying the snes classic. To my knowledge the paypal guarantees will not work for that length of time so it would be very easy to get scammed.

It's actually a common scam, which is why Ebay doesn't allow preorders this far in advance. Even if Ebay unlists the item due to a report, the buyer could have already sent their money, and there are times when the buyer can't get their money back.

I thought Ebay had cracked down on pre-order sales, and they were only available through actual certified business sellers with a business license. I thought everyone else was limited to selling only property they had, or had secured through drop shipment, or had items that were made to order. Maybe it's changed though, as I only deal in new stock which I actually get. I don't have a good outlet for getting games early enough for pre-order, and realistically, I don't make any more off it to deal with the headache with the stupidly low profit margin.

They've already said they're planning on producing a whole lot more.

On top of that it's releasing 2 months earlier than the NES Mini did, meaning production can run quite a bit longer.

It doesn't help Nintendo in any way to limit sale by only making a small number. They produced 2.3 million NES Minis so I wouldn't be shocked if their initial plan for the SNES Mini is 5 million, with a backup plan already in place to extend production.

My guess is there will be shortages for a while because people will remember how hard it was to get the NES Mini, it may even be quite hard to find throughout the holidays, but after Christmas they'll be a lot easier to find. I wouldn't touch anything from a scalper because there will be a heck of a lot of people picking this up thinking they can flip it for 3-4 times the cost.

Maybe we'll hear more on their estimated production when they have their investors meeting.

Even the wii could've emulated the SFX chip, it must've been a licensing issue. Nintendo, as usual, spewing bs. Penny pinchers, racist buggers.

The Status of Every PlayStation Franchise

Sony owns a fair few iconic franchises - many dating right back to the original PlayStation. But while we’re pretty familiar with the likes of ongoing series such as God of War, Horizon, and Gran Turismo, there are plenty of PlayStation franchises that haven’t seen the light of day in a long time. So in this video, we’re going to be taking a look at the status of PlayStation’s many IPs, and checking in on when we last heard from them.

Status in one word:

Underutilized.

The end.

anast1d 15h ago

Which ones should they utilize more?

BehindTheRows1d 14h ago

Indeed. We hear this “underutilized” talk as if every old franchise should have a comeback or reboot.

When new IPs start looking like Concord, you can't blame people for wanting another Resistance or Killzone instead.

anast1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

J&D and Resistance are good ones. As much as I love these, though, I'm not sure they would payoff without an enormous marketing push. Younger gamers today do not have taste and the older gamers that would appreciate these might not be enough. But yeah, I would day 1 Resistance.

Well that’s just the consequence of consistently producing new IPs isn’t it. Not all studios can be or want to be like polyphony digital who made gran turismo all the time.

Here lies The Infamous Series; once a shining beacon of free flying, lighting bolt sniping, and wire riding amazing gameplay, it has been laid to rest and be forgotten for what seems like forever despite being loved by millions. Plot next to Wipeout across from NBA Jam.

Lightning771d 10h ago

Still baffling they cancelled Twisted Metal, Factions 2 and Spider-Man Multiverse LS game but thought Concord looked good enough.

Chocoburger1d 10h ago

Ape Escape, Parappa / Lammy, Gravity Rush, good times. Always hoping for them to make a return, or at least similar type games, such as the newly-announced Astro Bot, but one game isn't enough. Bring back the joyfulness of the 90's era of gaming.
