Press Start: New God of War deserves better than original trilogy

The three main God of War games left a lot to be desired. Here's where the original trilogy was weak and how God of War for the PlayStation 4 could improve.

I disagree to a point. The first God of War was brilliant. The characterization of Kratos, his look, his fighting style, his antimations--all characterization through gameplay. The story was also classic Greek tragedy--a man of power brought low by his action and being reduced to passionate but impotent remorse.

God of War 2 is when the series takes a bad turn in narrative. As fun as the game is to play the character of Kratos is reduced to a petulant child abusing his power and taking revenge on the God who punishes him for it.

God of War 3 sees Kratos becoming a caricature. Wrapped in a story which wouldn't make it as a direct to DVD Disney film, saying he's learned lessons and then murdering everyone anyway--a git with no redeeming value.

As fun as the God of War games are, only the first was completely in and of itself brilliant. The other two while expanding the game play, drop the narrative and character ball so hard they had to completely rewrite the character for God of War 4. The glaring mistakes of the God of War trilogy need to be accepted and addressed.

lol literally quoted Zeus from God of War III. Nice. Anyway, That is the whole point of Kratos' story. Taking revenge on the gods who used him and did him wrong was literally what drove him. He wasn't reduced to anything. That's what he always was. Kratos isn't a "new" character now because of any missteps previously. It's because his story and purpose to his story concluded at the end of the trilogy. Saying he learned lessons and murdered everyone anyway.you have it backwards. He killed the gods and then relinquished his power. He has a new purpose now, a new life.

i think,it is good,that they started fresh reboot,they release many games with the same mechanics.it was time to change that a little bit.still there is going to be a lot of fight,but now we will get and more story,feelings,new perspective.
