The mainline series finally returns home

nX2533d ago

Yes finally we won't have to complain about the lame handheld stuff anymore, this is way overdue.

CorndogBurglar2533d ago

But...the handheld games are fantastic.

I'm very excited for this coming to console, but I won't pretend that the handhelds are lame because of it.

naruga2532d ago (Edited 2532d ago )

portable games werent bad at all but literally damaged series potential without return (not PSP entries though as they helped the game explode and were nt far graphically form home console version).................if Capcom wanted to keep MH on portables at least should have relaesed MH4 for PS Vita ...it was idiotic from Capcom to take series and go back downgrading visulally the series on 3DS...MH4 (and MH3) had exceptional good art design that literally completely wasted on below the average 3DS and Wii ..MH4 on PSVita (and probably tech teams form Sony) would have helped them to evolve the graphics engines far far earlier and jump on current gen easily.....

Nintnedo while expert on game design-planning , only recently mastered Unreal engine (the most easy graphics engine on the market with the most average visuals though ) ....Nintnedo could nt give them knowledge to evolve the series and Monster Hunter left stale for over 10 years .......Capcom admitted that also , saying that recently hired teams to evolve MT frameworks engine (probably were from Sony s camp as they would develop Deep Down for them)

MH World is a good direction , not only visually but aesthetically and mechanically also as they returned to serious style of previous entries like MH1-2-3 and ditched the ridiculous that started especially with Monster Hunter X -XX

Welcome back long-term motivation king. I'm laughing my ass off, so many years of waiting and suddenly all dreams of a possible home console Monster Hunter game with improved graphics are coming true.

Maxor2533d ago

What took so long? I guess it must be hard to break the constant cycle of Resident remakes but damn.

SamPao2533d ago

because it sold millions more on handhelds and its cheaper to make.

GamePeace2533d ago (Edited 2533d ago )

@Maxor
Maybe they collected the money and resources to make that happen, maybe it was their "secret" plan? Sell as much as possible and make as much money as possible, while collecting resources in the process ... just to find the right opportunity to produce this beast? They definately took their time, but now it's coming ... it's coming guys, see you online if you will purchase this monster. I think they just saw the potential of the Ps4 (given to it's success), so they started to think about a new MH for home consoles. They probably thought that they could squeeze even more sales out of the game if they add the other two strong machines that could handle the game (Xbox One and Pc). It seems like they're trying to make the series much more popular (especially in the western regions as they stated it many times). Let's wait and see, I'm quite confindent about it, but for now we have to wait and see how it really develops and shapes out ...

Well....money is one thing.

http://www.ign.com/articles...

They have been trying to get more solid as of late, doesn't help that games like SFV sold pretty low for the series either

http://www.playstationlifes...

and with Dead Rising 4

http://thisgengaming.com/20...

They'e just been struggling for a while. They basically needed Sony, MS and Nintendo to help fund, publish, localize, market etc

MS with Dead Rising
Sony with SFV, SFIV port and even Revelations 2 port
Nintendo with MH

This took a long time as Capcom now, isn't the same Capcom from 10 years ago, what they did last gen has hurt them SOOOOO badly, they were opening to being bought out, need the help of all 3 first party publishers and now need the help of Namco Bandai

Those remasters are nothing to them in terms of COST, they help keep them open to be honest. Only RE remake being made is 2.

The cost of that game is legit likely the cost of a ground up game considering its not a remaster or HD port...its a REMAKE ie ground up made game.

Revelations 1
RE 2002 and Zero remaster
Code Veronica HD port etc are ports, they are simply transfer jobs, they are not to be confused with "remakes" which actually physically making a game, porting isn't what you think it is.

Those ports are not making anything take "long" as the teams porting them don't make games, they port them.

So the people putting Revelations 1 on PS4 and XONE are not 200 man teams, they are likely a team of less then 10, they are not holding back any MH or any main game, I'd argue the funds from those remasters is what is funding such developments. Without those sales, would this not take longer?

InKnight7s2533d ago

Well, when companies make games for handhelds at cheap costs and sell it like pancakes they will milk it till someone inside suggest one more game for console. I mean look at Pokemon and Kingdom Hearts.

GamePeace2533d ago

Agree, sadly many companies work like that at the cost of the fans. I really started to loose faith in the series, 3DS after 3DS games, they graphics were worrying me too as they started to look like crap for the standars of today, but now they seem to build up new faith in long-term MH-fans like myself (been playing since original Monster Hunter on Playstation 2).

nX2533d ago

Well you support it by buying the 3DS games. I for one never bothered with them, why would I play games on a 3 inch screen with limited colors when I could spent my time on a huge 4k TV.

GamePeace2533d ago (Edited 2533d ago )

@nX
Sorry InKnight7s, couldn't reply under his / her comment, so I do it under yours. nX ... you buy anything if you don't have a real alternative from the original makers, you can be that desperate if you're a die-hard fan of the series ... believe me.

A Late Look: Monster Hunter: World

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "While it was a mixed pleasure overall - at times exhilarating, at others agonizing - I would have to say I enjoyed my time with Monster Hunter: World and found it to be surprisingly addicting. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that I was surprised by how little had changed from previous titles, given how this particular entry took the series to unheard levels of popularity, but while it retains both positives and negatives from them, at the very least it’s a stellar-looking game that brings more freedom to the hunt than any of its predecessors (Monster Hunter Rise could possibly be a different story, but that, my friends, is a game for another article)."
