I think Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle's announcement was the best moment of E3.

Don't get me wrong, I think better games were shown off, other games looked more interesting, other games were more surprising, etc . . .

However, having Miyamoto come out on stage and join Yves Guillemot was great. They both looked like they were simply having fun and enjoying themselves. You could tell the crowd loved it too.

The game got a good trailer, a good gameplay demo, a short segment discussing it . . . And everything hit all the right notes without feeling like it overstayed its welcome.

The icing on the cake is when the cameras cut to Davide Soliani, the creative director of the game. His passion for the game was clear when he started tearing up during the announcement. It obviously meant a lot to him.

It was great to see a major Western company teaming up with a major Eastern company and working together with an individual who's so passionate about both.

As I said, the game was hardly my favorite game there, the announcement was hardly the biggest surprise there, and it was hardly the most interesting thing there . . . But it was a truly great moment for gaming. And I say that as someone who was skeptical of the game.

That was a key moment of this E3 IMO. Seeing developers who really care about what they're creating.

It's not easy being given the task to make a Mario Rabbids crossover and being told to make a game, unlike anything that's been done before in the Mario series. But based on what we've seen thus far, they made something that looks really cool.

Definitely.

As I said, it was hardly my favorite game, or the most impressive game. Obviously after all the leaks it wasn't the biggest surprise. But all of those involved were clearly passionate about the project and there were some of the most notable industry figures there simply enjoying themselves as they announced it and talked about it. It's what E3 should be about really.

My top 3 are Mario 3, Mario World and Mario 64. Mario Odyssey is also excellent, and I enjoyed Sunshine but didn't care for the Galaxy series.

Animal crossing came out the week the entire world shutdown. Yeah I bought it.

Agreed. I think a lot of the AC: H sales have to do with early lockdown players!

I mean, I would've played it anyway. But I guess there's a lot of people who got into it because of the hype and their new found free time!

Nintendo made out like bandits with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It's the same game that was on the WiiU except they added 2 item boxes like in double dash.

It's the Capcom method:

1. Add a new word to the end of the title and features that should've been expected first time around.
2. Charge full price for it.
3. Profit.
