Crackdown 3 Can Be Completed In Under Three Hours

Yes, Crackdown 3 can be completed in under three hours - not that it should be, you understand. Crackdown 3 is a massive, virtual playground of explosions, explosions, and yes, more explosions. There are collectibles, there are bad guys, and there's the kingpin at the top. Developers Sumo Digital say that a typical playthrough will be in the 12-16 hour range, but it can be bested in around two-and-a-half hours.

Speed Runners, will probably end up completing the game in under an hour then.

But I've never understood the point of speed running a game tbh.

naruga2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

This game from the overhyped savior of Xone have become a garbage even before release ...3 hour campagn all and all , generic and uninspired as hell , bland gameplay, no destruction and cloud features ...really WTF ?
also Crackdown was not canceled while the millions times better AAA Scalebound was....who the f is managing Xbox software iwonder ?
Someone can think that back then Xbox fans trashing Order 1886 because it was a bit short .....a game that yet to matched in visuals even by PC , with very well made TPS gameplay mechanics, very good atmosphere and a good plot having only one con -->it was a 6 hour game. .... ..

slate912520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

Holy crap dude, at least try to read into the article next time.
All you had to do was read the description paragraph to see the normal time will take 12-16 hours on the first run!! My goodness dude.

"Once you take down the TerraNova Kingpin, that's game over. So if you take your level five Agent from a previous save into a new game and really blitz it, you're looking at a decent speedrun."

"Of course, if you're not gunning for it - and even if you're on your first run of the game - it will take a lot longer. There are orbs to collect, after all. Orbs!"

Neonridr2520d ago

reading comprehension isn't one of your strong suits huh nargua?

GtR35olution2520d ago

Crackdown 3 is a 3 hour game just like the order 1886 was said to be a 5 hour game. Fanat-X needs to stop making excuses for crackdown 3 which most were hyping for over 3 years. It's probably called crackdown 3 because you can crack down 3 hours to finish it. This game has worse graphics than borderlands on ps vita

CorndogBurglar2520d ago

The Order had way more problems than just being short.

Terrible AI.

Big pointless environments to walk around in with literally nothing tondo in them.

Pick ups that added nothing to the story or lore.

Broken enemies, like the armored shotgunners.

Teammates that added nothing. None of them killed a single enemy in my playthrough.

The werewolf enemies were mindless and just ran back and forth in the same pattern until you killed them.

The end boss (if you can call it that) was a literal cut and paste of a previous boss you fought earlier....in a QTE fight, mind you.

Horrible lack of weapons that were worth a damn.

Seriously the only thing this game had going for it were the graphics and the story......which actually ended pretty terribly, but thats just my opinion.

sonarus2520d ago

Lol @ order vs crackdown debates. My game is less crappy than your game?

christocolus2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

@Nar..

Lol.. Do you even read articles or do you just go in blindly to troll?

spicelicka2520d ago

Lmao, brings up the Order, you're still salty over a 2 year old game really? You realize Crackdown has Multiplayer unlike the Order? Multiplayer = unlimited play time.

And I have the Order myself, it's a good game but your response is pathetic and salty.

2520d ago
Vasto2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

Jealous fanboy that can not think before he post.

He clearly said the typical play through was 12-16 hours.

Zelda Breath Of Wild was beaten in 45 minutes.

https://gamerant.com/zelda-...

Does this mean the game is bad?

Mr Pumblechook2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

All those years since the Xbox One reveal with all that promise of Cloud Compute for just THREE HOURS of gameplay?

gangsta_red2520d ago

The difference is Crackdown is an open world game where you can go directly to the last boss and bypass everything else if you choose to.

The Order is a linear game filled with cutscenes as added fluff that takes you down a straight and narrow in under 4 hours.

DaDrunkenJester2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

* Destruction and Cloud features is still there in the MP as promised and always announced
* A lot of games can be completed in a hour or so from speed runners, look at dark souls, skyrim and Zelda BOTW etc.
* generic and bland, well, that's like just your opinion man.
* Also Scalebound wasn't cancelled out of the blue for no reason

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed haha

MegamanXXX2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

The game don't look that good tbh. I was not impressed with Crackdown at Microsoft press conference. The only games I was impressed with was Anthem, Metro, Assassin Creed, and Cuphead. Something looked off with Crackdown. The graphics didn't look that great either imo

Brohan2520d ago

Another Jackass talking out his Hole.

Dragonscale2520d ago

@neon, and spelling isn't one of yours. Its naruga lol.

darthv722520d ago

"Crackdown 3 Can Be Completed In Under Three Hours If You Speedrun A New Game Using A Previous Save Agent."

title has been fixed to reflect the context of the actual article.

TheCommentator2520d ago

How fast can you beat a typical RE game on a speed run? They must suck too because they're short. BTW, how long is that new Uncharted Sony just revealed?

Babadook72520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

Nice sensational headline.

Skull5212520d ago

Yeah it's not to concerning especially since the focus is the online play. People can beat Dark Souls 3 in 35 minutes, I sure as hell can get a lot more gameplay than that when I play.

2520d ago
2520d ago
Mithan2520d ago

Scalebound was "better". Really? You played it to know this for fact?
What is with people spouting opinion and speculation and call it "Fact" these days?

rainslacker2520d ago

@slate

It took most people about 12 hours to complete the Order their first time through.

Couldn't you just use the more sensible counter argument that The Order didn't have MP?

mrmonkeyhumper2520d ago

How do you know scalebound was a million times better.....IT NEVER RELEASED MORE THAN 5 MINS OF GAMEPLAY. Not really sure why there is so much hate for the Xbox. I personally have 365 games on my one( including backwards comp.) Don't like Microsoft or the One? Don't play it.

Breath of the Wild can be completed in under 3 hours 40 minutes. That's the record so far. Doesn't make it any less of a quality game though.

ShottyatLaw2520d ago

The record is well under an hour actually.

XbladeTeddy2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

All main quests is 3 hours 40 odd minutes. The other records are for 100% in other things.

Source: www.speedrun.com/botw#All_Main _Quests

_-EDMIX-_2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

Yeah I don't know where you got that information from but breath of the wild speedrun is about 40 minutes and some change change

Mind you most official speedruns are not simply put under 100%official speed runs for the most part are seen under what we call any percent

XbladeTeddy2520d ago

@ EDMIX: Yeah, I found out that the game can be completed in 40 mins but only if you go after the bosses and that's it. That's major speedrunning though. Playing just the main quests is 3 hours 40 odd so the fact Crackdown can be done in 3 shouldn't put people off just yet, it could still be a decent game.

joab7772520d ago

Or they may do it in under 15 minutes if it can be done in 2-3 hrs.

EatCrow2520d ago

Its about getting through tough things with the bare minimum and the thrill of it.
Its like learning a new trick. You keep trying till you get it and then strive to improve it.

I tried speed running prince of persia. Got it around 2-3 hours. So I gave up. lol

Brohan2520d ago

Besides the fact it just ruins the game for themselves.

DoomeDx2520d ago

Why? They play the game first then speedrun it after. It's a fun thing to do!

XanderZane2520d ago

What a bunch of idiots. They are talking about testers who have been playing the game for over a year completing speed runs in the game. Testers who know where every singles ORB, weapon, enemy and item is located. A person who starts the game for the first time is not going to complete this game in 3 hours. The developers even tells you that it will take you 12-16 hours when you first play it.

"Developers Sumo Digital say that a typical playthrough will be in the 12-16 hour range"

Whoever wrote this article obviously wanted some negative to say about the game, otherwise they would have included the 12-16hrs in the titles as well. What a joke these people at pcgamesn.com are. They didn't even say the 3hrs is a speed run by game testers.

_-EDMIX-_2520d ago

Lol no, speedrunners would end up completing this literally in probably 20 minutes if not less.

rainslacker2520d ago

It can be a nice challenge. Sometimes to get those speedruns down, they can play the game for hundreds of hours.

I wouldn't attempt it from the start personally, seems it would ruin the experience.

I tried one of those JRPG challenges where you complete the game without levelling ,or upgrading stuff/character, and after about 5 hours I thought, "This is stupid", and stopped.

PistolsAtDawn2520d ago

I think 3 hours IS the speed run...they were saying the average playthrough would be 12-15 hours....not counting all the Co-Op and orb gathering.

S2Killinit2520d ago

Ummm 3 hours?!? Yeaaa that is not acceptable. Thats like paying 22 bucks an hour.

Neonridr2520d ago

well the title is sort of out of context. Clearly the devs say that a typical playthrough will be 12-16 hour range. But people will just read the title and run with that.

Liqu1d2520d ago

It says 12-16 hours in the description, you don't even need to read the article. Title isn't out of context either since the devs said it can be beat in under 3 hours if you choose to rush.

slate912520d ago

"Once you take down the TerraNova Kingpin, that's game over. So if you take your level five Agent from a previous save into a new game and really blitz it, you're looking at a decent speedrun."

No, you get that short campaign when you bring in an agent from the previous game. You kind of do need to read the article...

Neonridr2520d ago (Edited 2520d ago )

Yes but most people on here don't read past the title before they decide to make a comment. Was just pointing it out before a certain group of individuals come here claiming that Crackdown is a 3 hour game.

News flash, any game can be beaten quicker if you decide to rush.

morganfell2520d ago

Despite the description it is still a clickbait headline. You can beat Far Cry 4 in 15 minutes and that was a good game. Even if you do not like Crackdown or the Xbox or Microsoft you should still disapprove of these types of articles.

XMarkstheSpot2520d ago

One of the main reasons it can be done quickly is because if you started a brand new game, even if you didn't have a level 5 guy, the very last and final boss is available to go and kill the second you start the game. Granted hes going to have ALL of his bodyguards as backup and itll be extremely hard to kill him, but its possible to go from 0 to hero at level 1

XanderZane2520d ago

If you do a speed run and know where everything is, yes. You won't know where everything is when you first play the game though. They are talking about their testers beating the game in 3hrs or less, not some gamer who never played it before. You guys are clueless.

Kiwi662520d ago

But that still didn't stop a few from saying its a 3 hour game because they have clearly ignored that bit just so they can talk crap about the game, which just goes to show the sort of mentality of some who are supposed to be intelligent

Eonjay2520d ago

Its not Fake. It says the recommended the full play through of 12 hours but 2.5 is possible and this comes from the dev... calm down Unless you are calling Sumo Digital fake... smh

sibyl12520d ago

Don't be alarmed it's just nazigamer he calls anything he disagrees with fake news. He was at McDonalds the other day and they put pickles on his hamburger after he said no pickles and then went on a trade calling the hamburger fake news. He's harmless just ignore him.

Tencent to buy Crackdown and Sackboy developer Sumo in $1.3bn deal

Tencent is set to buy Sumo Group in a deal worth $1.27bn (£919m), the companies have announced.

Tencent is really buying up everything. I'm surprised everyone is selling to them like this.

Rebel_Scum1026d ago

They want/need capital I guess.

darthv721026d ago

No way they are worth that much. They are a support studio. I guess tencent decided to throw them an insane price that Sumo would be crazy to turn down.

Its like the godfather. "Im going to make you an offer you cant refuse"

UltraNova1026d ago

Always the case.

Who owns the rights to Crackdown and Sackboy IPs though?

boing11026d ago

I've heard some time ago, that they created a special unit that has a mission to search for acquirable devs all around the globe.

-Foxtrot1026d ago

Going off their business practices they seem like a cancer in this industry

Maybe because they're a publisher of games with a history of success loool..?

barom1026d ago

Even Microsoft can’t compete with that kind of money.

Zeref1026d ago (Edited 1026d ago )

Uhm yes they can.. What do you mean?

Zeref1026d ago

Money talks, Besides, those developers don't need to worry about income anymore.

enkiduxiv1026d ago

I doubt anyone that matters to the actual production of the games is getting a raise. The only thing that has changed is that now they can't buy any Winnie the Poo products for their kids.

senorfartcushion1026d ago

Well they’re allowed. America and China are leading the world in toxic capitalism.

n1kki61026d ago

As publicly traded companies it's either they sell and potentially get more, or tencent initiates a hostile takeover and buys at least 51% of the shares. These companies might not even be amicable to the buy out but opt to take it because hostile takeovers are terrible.

Yep. A company that built itself by ripping off IP of small, innovative developers and out-marketing them. Tencent is everything wrong not just with gaming but corporate ethics in general, and the assymetric regulatory playing field we for some reason permit from the Chinese government. Egregiously corrupt companies like Tencent should be banned from the US market.

senorfartcushion1026d ago

The US market would take Tencent to dinner and have it naked on the bed by midnight if it could. America and China are as bad as each other

Lightning771026d ago

They can take Sumo those devs really aren't that great. Sack boys big adventure scored good however but Crackdown 3 wasn't great. They're 50/50 Sony will find a suitable replacement for Sack boy. MS desperately needs a suitable replacement for crackdown, if it's not already too late in terms of fanfare at this point.

Sumo to me isn't that big of a deal there are better devs out there.

senorfartcushion1026d ago

Crackdown 3 was cancelled and remade a few times. Hardly their fault.

darthv721026d ago

This is the same Sumo who made Outrun 2, 2006 Coast to Coast, Sonic Racing Transformed as well as Forza Horizon 2 on the 360. I think they are better than you give them credit for.

Wulfer1026d ago

You might want to walk this statement back. Why else do you think this game goes for over $200 now?

ScootaKuH1026d ago

I'm surprised Sumo are valued so high

solideagle1026d ago

yeah, thats what I thought. $1.3 billion is very high, Insomniac sounds like a bargain deal for Sony!

chadwarden1026d ago

And they likely bought Housmarque and Bluepoint for even less than Insomniac.

phoenixwing1026d ago

at the two above me,
it's easy to sell for less when you know you're in good hands business and culture wise. I mean sure you could scratch out some extra money elsewhere but are all the people you know going to be taken care of when you get bought out? Sony takes care of them. Basically you can tell who's a scheming money scumbag by what ceo's/execs choose to be bought by. In the end money talks but there's extras to consider sometimes.

roadkillers1026d ago

I am as well. They do not own any IPs from my understanding...

DOMination-1026d ago

Me too! After looking them up, it seems like they were the parent of other game studios: Lab42, Red Kite, Sumo India, The Chinese Room and PixelAnt Games and also have some cryptocurrency technology.

They may also still hold the IP for back when they were Gremlin Interactive.. back in the Amiga days they were really a dev of some repute.

ScootaKuH1026d ago

Gremlin. Now there's a name that takes me back. Ocean as well.

Teflon021026d ago

They're not, it's likely them just throwing money around to make sure they have no opposition. Sumo is a valuable developer as they've assisted in alot of great games. They did LBP3, Sackboy, Sonic Transformed, I believe Assisted in both ModNation Racers and LBPK, Team Sonic racing, just to name the few off the top of my head that I own.

IRetrouk1026d ago

I honestly thought ms or Sony would have nabbed them, seeing as they have worked for both on their respective ips, colour me surprised.

Bennibop1026d ago

It's a lot of money for a group with no ips, what would they have worked on to keep so many studios and staff employed. For now at least they continue working on ips for the likes of Sony and Microsoft.

IRetrouk1026d ago

Sony and ms have more than enough ips to keep em busy, the price would have been an issue though, that I agree with, just surprised is all🤷‍♂️

frostypants1026d ago (Edited 1026d ago )

Tencent doesn't exactly pride themselves on original IP anyway. They just steal someone else's. They only need developer drones.

Sephiroushin1026d ago

They have enough to make them busy but there is no point in buying the studio that high, they could just make the developers some offers and thats it... heck every single developer could just quit the studio and with what is tensen left? no point in buying a studio with no IP you dont own the developers

IRetrouk1026d ago

I already agreed that the price was high, still don't take away that they could have been used, and be useful to either ms or sony

Xbox Cloud Gaming PC Preview/Hands on Impressions (BETA) - CG

Microsoft recently released their Xbox Cloud Gaming PC Beta which allows users the opportunity to stream Xbox games to their Windows 10 PCs or laptops. This follows on from being able to use the cloud gaming on mobile devices which works very well but is limited to the size of your screen. Having the option to play Xbox games with a larger display has its obvious benefits.

bunt-custardly1303d ago

Oh right, I didn't get the joke sorry, it just clicked. Hmm, is Crackdown 3 really that bad/universally hated especially as it's on gamepass?

SullysCigar1303d ago

My attempt at humour could have been clearer, in hindsight..!

Yeah, sadly Crackdown 3 had been hyped so hard and so long by Microsoft, that when it launched as a mediocre game, it got panned. It was mainly the broken promises about the power of the cloud I think that did it. This was the 'cloud power' poster child for years and it all amounted to nothing, which is a real shame, because if they'd realised their initial vision it could have been special.

bunt-custardly1303d ago

I do remember the original vision where entire buildings could be demolished but wasn't that feature relegated to the multiplayer mode? For me, Crackdown 3 comes across quite generic. I suppose if it had the full destruction in the story mode that would have been bad-ass. If Red Faction Guerrilla can do it why not CD?

FanboySpotter1303d ago

Crackdown 3 was made for crackdown fans. Hated by non crackdown fans. Enjoyed by crackdown fans.

MadLad1303d ago

I played it on PC for a little while via gamepass. It's not nearly as terrible as people would try to make it out to be, but it's the definition of a "meh" game.
There's fun to be had if you're bored.

IanTH1303d ago

100%. This is obviously just showing what can be done with the current highest end hardware, rather than what should be. And if you're splashing out for an RTX 3090 over a 3080 for gaming (small performance delta if not using that huge buffer for productivity), then I guess you'll also consider splashing out for an 8k screen. And, I mean, you'll want to be able to do *something* with it lol.

outsider16241303d ago

Let's be honest here, even with extra high settings at 8k 120fps... it'll still look like crap. Sorry.
