Ark Survival Evolved Devs Comment On PS4 Pro vs. Xbox One X Power Difference

Ark Survival Evolved developer Studio Wildcard has talked about the hardware difference between the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X.

Xbox One X is miles above the average PC specs. And more than comparable to high-end PC gameplay.

If a dev has as much trouble getting something to run properly as this dev does, then I don't really care what they think about the hardware. It's like Crytek. Crytek makes/made pretty games, but the original Crysis just now runs well on PCs, and there are a lot of games that look better and run better. There's more to hardware than terraflops. Software is 50% of the job. That's where Sony has the competition beat. Their software is ridiculously good.

This is exactly what he said and thank you for reporting it properly. The Pro version already is updated to run the best on consoles now but the Xbox One X will run better and use the same dynamic resolution tech. Others reported that the Pro wasn't getting any update, it's already had it, or that only the XBO X would get 60fps, they both are dynamic fps and both will reach it when there isn't too much happening on screen.

Pro - has updates to high settings
Xbox X - will get updated to Max settings

Exactly what I have been telling people, with +4gb RAM over the Pro, you will get much better Draw distance, object count, texture quality, etc. along with higher Frame rates and resolution

Just FYI, it's 'technically' only +3GB RAM. Pro has 8GB GDDR5 + 1GB GDDR3. XBO X has 12GB GDDR5.

Also, framerate is mostly a CPU issue now on both consoles, not GPU or RAM. This is why he's using the same dynamic resolution setup he has on XBO and PS4.

Pro has 5.5gb for Games since last update (Just Checked), so it's 3.5gb + Faster advantage in the memory department. Yeah you are right on the CPU, hopefully the X having a slightly faster CPU will help with that.

Yeah, there's no question XBO will be able to handle larger texture files and on-GPU processing better than Pro. I think XBO X, moreso than Pro, is being held back by the need to keep the CPU in line with XBO. If it wasn't held back, I'm certain they would have the ability to do 60fps across the board.

I wouldn't use this studio as a good source of hardware capability, their game is terribly optimised on every platform. At least they're consistent I guess.

I tried to play again after 2 years and I actually believe it got worse. Me and my friend rage quit with all the glitches lol. They need to work on the code more than anything absolutely

exactly why I'm buying the one x. 3rd party games are the majority of any game library (even on nintendo) and I want those games to run as good as they can without jumping to a pc. the one x just has way more power to bring it.

I have this game. I love it on PC.. but let's be honest here. It still stutters at times even with a 1080ti. I wish the devs focused a lot more on optimizing the game now and hold off on content to officially "release" it. I wouldn't mind paying for more content as the game itself is amazing (IMO, especially with other people). Please though, begin optimizing the game for console users as well as PC. It's a lot better now over time, but still needs a few kinks worked out.

Ark devs are scam artists and hearing them comment on the power of the consoles is a total joke. Their game will never release to retail and still runs like shit.
