Microsoft winning E3?.. I actually would like that. Sony will be great without a doubt and Nintendo will at the very least have some new Mario footage and some surprise announcements. If Microsoft can top that it will be a good E3 for gamers (people who like to play games).

Kingthrash3602550d ago (Edited 2550d ago )

MS dosent have to win for E3 to be good for gamers (people who play games).
If all of them have a great show its will be good for all gamers...no single companys performance will determine a great E3.
That's said this article need more substance.
Like MS can bring all 11 games...but you need to predict what sony bring as well. If Sony brings 15 blockbuster games to MS 11, will MS still "win"?
It's stupid to play winners simply because fanboys will say the console on their side won no matter what.
It's best to sit back and enjoy whatever happens...it's gamer holiday season. Leave the fanboy battles aside until afterwards.

Your spot on. For me it's not about who has the most games it's about who has the games I want. For me as a racing fan the Xbox has been better this gen so I'll be keeping an eye on GT and aslo forza this E3. Looking forward to seeing what they all bring though should be a good one.

mad-dog2549d ago (Edited 2549d ago )

Don't get me wrong, i agree. But since they'll be picking a winner anyway online i think if MS wins this they would all three have a great show for gamers. I think this will be a great E3.

Edit: Oh and your definition of "gamers" is better: "people who play games".

First reasonable comment I've seen on this website in weeks

BlakHavoc2551d ago

That would be a solid lineup of games but I still don't think that'd be enough. Especially if we get more Spiderman, GoW, Days Gone, Death Stranding, TLOU2, Detroit, and TLL. As well as new stuff from SP and FS.

DigitalRaptor2550d ago (Edited 2550d ago )

When articles of this quality exist, you know there's no much going on.

There's 4 games on this list that MS really have to show at this point so that we can see what's going on and how they play, because they've been announced for quite a while. Those games are Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and Cuphead. They're not going to contribute to a win for just showing up though, and from a first-party perspective Sony has a lot more going on that more people are excited for.

I'm not sure how Phantom Dust 2 will add up to a win. If it's a CG trailer reveal like that last one that was supposed to be coming then don't count on it. There will be at least one niche Japanese game on Sony's E3 that will excite more people than a Phantom Dust sequel tease.

Sunset Overdrive 2 would be a cool surprise and show commitment to growing a new IP into something more, but unlikely that Insomniac are working on it at present, and a #SpiderManPS4 gameplay blowout, title reveal and release date would weigh in heavier.

Conker's Bad Fur Day 2 would be an awesome surprise, but unless we know which creative minds are making it then it won't exceed the best of what Sony or Nintendo will reveal and appeal to nostalgia in a greater way. They're not going to announce more than one additional Rare game at E3, especially with Sea of Thieves being a premier focus, so count Banjo out.

Forza 7 is a given as part of a yearly series. Maybe it would make a stronger impact if one of the games the highlights Scorpio, but remember we're talking about winning E3 on the strength of impactful and surprise game announcements.

They closed Lionhead among several other studios in 2016. Who is going to work on Fable?

Then there's that rumoured Tomb Raider sequel. It's multiplatform and even if there's timed-exclusivity involved gamers will already know the score. Plus, Sony is going to have its own big third-party exclusive announcements, and probably will be something as big if not bigger than Tomb Raider.

There isn't a lineup of games here that surpasses what Sony is going to have to show based on what they already have announced and what they are preparing to announce on their stage.

lelo2play2551d ago (Edited 2551d ago )

Microsoft's E3 will probably be about pushing Scorpio hard, by promoting multiplatform games played best on the system, and a couple of exclusives we have already heard about.
I don't expect many exclusives or big surprises from Microsoft (well, maybe a surprise or two).

jznrpg2550d ago

They will have a couple unannounced games or at least they should, I am not sure about surprises or not but maybe. Every year there are unannounced games so I wouldn't call that a surprise, unless its something like Shenmue3 or FF7 remake. Like Halo Forza whatever number and Gears 5 wouldn't surprise anyone.

dilbig52550d ago (Edited 2550d ago )

Fable, Banjo, Sunset Overdrive 2 and Conker would be the only surprises in that list. We've know about Crackdwon, SoT, State of Decay, and Cuphead for awhile. Forza is a yearly series. Tomb Raider is an assumption based on the past game. And Phantom Dust 2 would be a slight surprise but it got "remastered" so not too much.

Rimeskeem2550d ago

If MS shows 11 games ill be surprised

badz1492550d ago

the Xbone will be lucky to have another 11 exclusives before MS decidee to discontinue it

The Games Industry Needs A Stronger Games Media

The move away from written coverage of games is a problem for journalists and for the games industry.

What we need is a more honest games media. I'm sorry but if you're an outlet in bed with a publisher or getting goodies to attend preview/ review events then you can't be trusted to be objective. Very similar to the need for getting money out of politics.

ApocalypseShadow2d ago

Basically this. We've seen how the game media turned for the worse after the acceptance of advertising dollars during the 360 era from one particular company. How many websites were willing to sell out for Mountain Dew and Doritos. Accepting $800 Halo Swag bags and expensive Windows laptops to do blogging.

Video sites like game trailers that was willing to lie about PS3 graphics and sometimes, still had the wrong controller image at the bottom on the video. And, turned off comments it deleted them to keep the truth from being told.

That same company twisted certain gamers to a new level of fanboyism. This website was full of them when I arrived. Lying through their noses again and again. Then, that very company started lying or withholding information that showed the truth. That their competitors were selling more worldwide and had better graphics overall. But the damage to the media and a certain group of gamers was done. And, continues to this day. Even after hearing the truth that that company they serve is very destructive to the industry, developers and gamers.

lodossrage1d 16h ago

Yeah, and one of that company's former executives OPENLY admitted that. And before anyone says I'm lying:

Also, yeah plenty of people that are here now don't remember when this place was a haven for xbox. You have people like "The Mart at Xbox Kings" push all sorts of propoganda on a daily. But people seem to want to forget stuff like that...

Skuletor1d 22h ago

The whole Gamespot/Kane & Lynch thing is one of the best examples and that was 16 years ago.

lodossrage1d 15h ago

Yeah, but with people and their short memories, I'm sure a good portion here forgot all about that

Most game journalists are pariahs and low level marketing drones. They got too greedy and cannibalized their respect and trust. Something they learned not to do in their journalism schools. This is why we might as well watch gameplay critics on You Tube. Don't get me wrong, I love reading, but for every genuine article there is a thousand game journalist trying to gloss over monetization schemes so they can sell the game to gamers in order to get free games to do their jobs. It gets old. Even this piece doesn't address the problem.

UltimateOwnage1d 17h ago

We need better media in all aspects of society, period. Everything from the gaming press, to MSM is all fueled by clickbait headlines, half truths and buzzword topics that don't give much meat or meaning for the reader to benefit from.

lodossrage1d 12h ago

Agreed.

I can't even add anything to that .
