We can get to play as nazi females.

-Foxtrot2565d ago

Were feminists even around in WW2?

AnotherProGamer2565d ago

Its ironic they are talking about historical accuracy yet they remove all swastikas.....

sampson31212565d ago

please, don't confuse them with facts. lol

annoyedgamer2565d ago

Those aren't combat roles.

ziggurcat2565d ago

Yeah they are. Firing anti-aircraft artillery cannons, having confirmed sniper kills, etc... isn't combat, now?

JayPi32565d ago

I think he was mostly hoping that the anti feminist readers would upvote him based on being annoyed by equality, and less by actual facts.

Soviet Union - "About 400,000 Soviet women served in front-line duty units,[7] chiefly as medics and nurses."

Britain - "By August, 1941, women were operating the fire-control instruments; they were never allowed to pull the trigger, as killing the enemy was considered to be too masculine (cough ziggurcat cough). By 1943, 56,000 women were in Anti-Aircraft Command, most in units close to London where there was a risk of getting killed, but no risk of getting captured by the enemy."

There were a some soldiers / snipers in the Soviet Union, but pretty much everywhere else they were medics / helping fly supplies to and from / helping in roles far away from the front lines.

Weren't you one who kept claiming there was no historical accuracy to this? What, now that they cite historical cases and examples you're gonna just "lol" it?

Pretty transparent, dude.

DrJones2565d ago

The soviets did use quite a lot of woman aoldiers, about 500.000. Certainly not America though.

For the USSR perhaps.

For the US...I am not too familiar with any particular female battalions. Either way no big deal.

NarooN2565d ago

The French Resistance had female fighters historically, and as you mentioned, the USSR had female snipers and several all-female ground troop regiments as well.

ziggurcat2565d ago

The British also had women operating the anti-aircraft artillery.

TheColbertinator2565d ago

Interesting. The more you know.

rdgneoz32565d ago

@Ziggurcat "By August, 1941, women were operating the fire-control instruments; they were never allowed to pull the trigger, as killing the enemy was considered to be too masculine."

I have a feeling they're going to replace the Swastika with the Iron cross just like they did in the Zombie Chronicles dlc. I understand its offensive and its prohibited in Germany but;
1. It kills the realism/immersion
2. The Iron Cross is just as racist/offensive
3. Germany can deal with it, they're the ones that started the holocaust!

CorndogBurglar2565d ago (Edited 2565d ago )

3. Yes. So lets continue to hang it over a country's head that is no longer under the rule of one of history's worst dictators. A country whose vast majority of population wasn't even around during those times. Good way of looking at things.

Princess_Pilfer2565d ago

You don't get to hide from your history. Germany should be no more banning the Swastika than the US should be banning the confederate flag. Can't be flown on public property? Sure. Can't show up in a game (or book or movie or on a historical monument) about WW2 (or the civil war, respectively)? ****ing Stupid.

Kabaneri2565d ago (Edited 2565d ago )

The rest of the world isnt gonna edit history just because it might hurt Germany's feelings.
"Oh boo hoo! Poor us, the country that destroys Europe every few decades."

@ Princess Pilfer

Well I never said the Swastika shouldn't be in a game. That is absolutely stupid.

All I'm saying is that a country that no longer follows those ways shouldn't continue to be punished when those people that committed those awful things aren't even alive anymore.

Its literally the same thing as punishing YOU for a murder that your dead GRAND FATHER may have committed 70 years ago.

CorndogBurglar2565d ago

@ gbsrnctaln

Lol. Millenial? I'm 35, but okay.

Here's an example. Would you blame someone for a murder their dead GRAND FATHER committed 70 years ago?

CorndogBurglar2565d ago (Edited 2565d ago )

When did I say we should edit history? The Holocaust should never be forgotten. Hitler's evil should never be forgotten.

But I'll say it again in this comment.

Would you blame someone for a murder their dead grand father committed 70 years ago? Would you continuously remind them of the fact that their grand father was a murderer even though they weren't even around when he was killing people? Because that is essentially what you are talking about.

Don't get me wrong, not putting a swastika in a game is dumb. I totally agree with that. Its the whole attitude of blaming a country for something that happened generations ago when all of those people are dead and gone thatbis bad.

Including indies I’ve bought like more than 20 games, good deals all around.

P_Bomb1034d ago

I’ve overindulged too! Gonna pump the brakes on this next round. Unless there’s a PS+ discount. Need a cheap sub for my kid so I’m not always changing primaries.

solideagle1033d ago (Edited 1033d ago )

could you please suggest good indie games (which are on sale)? I love JRPGs or action RPGs but I can play almost any genre e.g. Transistor is £3.74 which I think is a steal :)

shinoff21831033d ago

Check out earthlock. Its pretty good

Old school jrpg try cosmic star heroine I really like that one

Aloymetal1033d ago

Disco elysium, man eater, inside, limbo
Dead cells, observer, to name a few

LoveSpuds1033d ago

Don't sleep on Darkest Dungeon, Child of Morta or Spiritfarer.

Although it won't be on sale, the best indie I have ever played is release in a week or so, it may be 20 quid but you have to play Hades.

GhostofHorizon1034d ago

Told my partner to stop me from browsing. We'll see how that goes, the first part of the sale already got me.

ElvisHuxley1034d ago (Edited 1034d ago )

Anthem 85% off? Thought they went free to play. Has the game gotten any better?
Edit-Nvm, it's Europe anyway.

Hellcat20201034d ago

The second phase of sales is for all regions
It's just not yet showing up in the ps store

Servbot411034d ago

They abandoned Anthem. Typical EA.

CobraKai1033d ago

I can’t believe they’re still trying to sell it

BioShockGX1033d ago

Got Anthem for $5 last year. Not a bad game for that price lol

ElvisHuxley1032d ago

Appreciate the downvotes folks. I guess merely asking a question bothers the incredibly mature users here.

anast1034d ago

I might finally go for Black Desert. I've been playing ESO (without MTing my characters) for some throw away entertainment, but the combat is so "#$&&%.

Servbot411034d ago

BDO sucks. Only good for the character creator.

anast1033d ago

Is the combat worth it?

Phoenixryu1033d ago

I tried BDO a few months ago. It's a decent game but I got bored of it pretty quickly. Combat is very action-based, it's fun but very repetitive. There are a lot of menus and most of the in-game systems are a bit more complicated than they needed to be. Some game modes won't let you buy and sell certain items until you convert to a different mode etc. Basically, the game is kind of convoluted.

phoenixwing1033d ago

The mobs barely react in bdo. You can kill half of a mob of enemies before they'll even attack. You'll basically be grinding mobs until you can fight a boss that will even react well. Don't recommend it

anast1032d ago

Thanks. Is there an alternative to ESO?

phoenixwing1032d ago

@anast I'd recommend playing the single player version of es if you haven't exhausted your playthroughs

EvertonFC1033d ago

Highly recommend the "metro saga bundle" £25 all 3 games and all DLC plus free upgrade for ps5 exodus 😊
