This party's getting crazy!

I'm still amazed that the director who gave us DMC2 was able to redeem himself directly afterwards with DMC3.

Dominican-Glory2532d ago

DMC2 was super rushed to his credit.

_-EDMIX-_2532d ago

That game.....gave me AIDS!

I even skipped it during the collection that was on PS3 (due to already having the AIDS it gave me upon release) lol

NovusTerminus2532d ago

"Though initially an unidentified director was placed in charge of the project, Capcom was dissatisfied with their work and assigned Hideaki Itsuno to finish the game roughly halfway through development. Itsuno is the only person credited as director in the final version of the game"

He had to try and pick up a rushed game and salvage what he could, DMC 3 was his first full DMC game.

PhoenixUp2532d ago

One would think that after rushing DMC2 led to its divisive reception that Capcom would've learned with DMC3 to give each future installment the proper development time to allow each entry to flourish. However that basic line of thinking went out the mirror when DMC4 was rushed.

Now DMC4 is nowhere near polarizing as DMC2, but I believe it could've unanimously been received better by critics and fans as better than DMC3. That backtracking in the latter half dampened as game that had an awesome foundation.

Still has some of the best video game cutscenes around. Cool soundtrack. Awesome gameplay. Great story. I really hope DMC5 happens. I want Dante,Lady,Trish and Nero in it like a Devil Hunter Avengers.

Ranking the Devil May Cry Series

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Upon finally finishing Devil May Cry 5 recently - after it spent several years on my “I’ll play that soon” list - I considered giving it a fittingly-named Late Look article. However, considering that this was indeed the final piece I was missing in the DMC puzzle, I decided to instead take this opportunity to take a look back at the entirety of this genre-defining series and rank the entries. What also made this a particularly tempting notion was that while most high-profile series have developed fairly evenly over time, with a few bumps on the road, the history of Devil May Cry has, at least in my eyes, been an absolute roller coaster, with everything from total disasters to action game gold."

First to last for me...3,4,5,1,2.

VersusDMC9d ago

Me leaving it out should be telling of my thoughts on it. Better than 2 as a DMC game.

Still a good game though.

Exvalos8d ago

What a weird name, it's essentially devil may cry, devil may cry lol

Best to good for me: 3, reboot, 1, 5

2 and 4 are trash, didnt like any of them.
5 has very good gameplay variety but i hated the foes.. it is just insects the whole time. Reboot has the best foes for me

Friendlygamer9d ago

3,1,4,5 to me, never played 2. 5 gameplay is amazing but level design was really disappointing to me, just a bunch of plain arenas, the story felt like a worse written rehash of the 3rd and the charater models looked weird ( specially the ladies ). Another problem with 5 was that there was not enough content for 3 charaters so I could never really familiarize with any of them

2.
Dmc.
4.
5.
1.
3.

God DMC2 was an awful game.
And in case this isn't obvious it goes worst to best

Yui_Suzumiya9d ago

1 and DmC. The rest are unimportant.

DarXyde9d ago

Order changes depending on your focus. I tend to focus on gameplay/fun factor, so...

5, 3, 1, 4, 2.

I really didn't like 4 but commend Dante's weapon diversity. The retreading of old ground was pretty unacceptable to me.

But even then... Still more enjoyable than 2 for me

SeTTriP9d ago

This right here is my order as I thought DMC 5 was amazing and obviously 3 comes after 4 was great and 1 for the nastilgic value it holds 2 was so terrible that my local GameStop gave full refunds to people who returned it.

....and that's a bad thing how?

343_Guilty_Spark272d ago

If it ain’t on Sony box it’s bad

autobotdan272d ago (Edited 272d ago )

Ninja Gaiden 2 was never multiplat. NG Sigma 2 is a remixed game not the same game at all

darthv72272d ago

Dante's inferno... such a great GoW inspired game. So sad the sequel was canned, it sounded like it was going to be even more epic than the first.

Vits272d ago

Yeap, classic GoW is still better mechanically. But the aesthetics and atmosphere of Dante's Inferno were just top-notch. Shame it never got a PC port, but at the very least is available on modern Xbox.

Juiceid272d ago

This list is ok, but Ninja Gaiden reigns supreme!

GhostScholar272d ago

I just can’t get into the devil may cry series. In my opinion you never feel powerful in those games. The guns are pointless as they only serve to be a flashy part of a combo. DMC was the only one that I could tolerate long enough to beat.

Why so it can get bashed, trashed, and have an abundance of articles complaining about it being a remake when it launched on PS2, was remastered for PS360Switch, and released in an HD collection for PS4/XBO, and now they want to remake it for PS5/Series when they could be spending that time on making a new game.

RaidenBlack682d ago

Enough of Remakes please .... instead would prefer Dino Crisis and Onimusha Reboots.

CrimsonWing69681d ago

I’m confused, you don’t want Remakes but you want Remakes?

RaidenBlack681d ago

I think I typed Reboot there

Knightofelemia682d ago

I'd like to see what the RE Engine could do with Dino Crisis if Capcom went that route with the engine and the game. Personally I would want a Dino Crisis remake myself love the franchise. I would be tempted to see an Onimusha remake as well.

sourOG681d ago

It’s was a good move for street fighter 6. So far it looks great.

HeliosHex681d ago

Ok I know there's alot of classics we'd like to see remade with today's tech but where do we draw the line? Because at this rate we about to buy every game we grew up with do we really need this? Aren't some games best in their original form? Isn't that makes us nostalgic for them? Do we really need remakes of psi-ops, rygar, Samson, the suffering, timesplitters etc? I dunno man I feel this is getting out of hand. I'd much rather move forward with new IP. Something about this just bothers me now. At first it was cool but now it's getting annoying.
