Why Sonic Forces' Custom Hero Characters Aren't Such A Bad Thing

Is Sonic well and truly jumping the shark with player created heroes, or with the game taking inspiration from what Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations got right, should we be looking past the superficial and judge the game on its gameplay instead?

I can finally play Ratchet & Clank in a sonic game, now remove that stupid speed section.

I think they're appealing to their younger audience a bit more with this move. Can't say I'm a huge fan, but I'm pretty sure it will go over well with the kiddos.

Optional feature in an offline game in which characterisation/plot is pretty much irrelevant.. it's a fun harmless idea.
