We’re Overdue for a Definitive Persona 3 Version

"Persona 3 was the start of something special for the series. While the previous Persona titles had a small niche following, the franchise didn’t really blossom into the successful, critically acclaimed series until Persona 3 released on PlayStation 2 in August 2007 (USA)." -- PlayStation Enthusiast

Persona 5 is my first JRPG and I'm enjoying it so far. I never gave them a chance as I didn't get into turn based games until the xcom remake. The only turn based game I can think of playing before that is civ. So yeah if persona 3 is similar to 5 then I would give a remaster a go. You have a better chance seeing how successful 5 was, it's till niche but it's probably more popular in the west than in 3's time.

Persona 3 was my first time in the series. It was amazing. P4 was a better game in many ways, more polished etc but P3 is still my high point. Would love to see both ported for PS4 using the P5 engine.

Concertoine2557d ago

P3 is a much darker game than 4, i guess that's why i like it more.

Imalwaysright2557d ago

If you like Persona 5 then Persona 3 and Persona 4 are a no brainer.

I played Persona 3 on PSP years ago. I was astonished how much fun it was. Absolutely agree this game needs an updated edition. It is my second favorite Persona game behind P5. Awesome characters and story and that incredible Person kick-ass Persona soundtrack.

So yes, Atlus, you need to make this happen!

We're long overdue for a Persona 5 Definitive Edition 😂

Viryu2557d ago

I'm really hoping that they will remaster Persona 6 soon XD

Snez2557d ago

Uh, no we aren't. Persona 3 has already seen three releases: base game, FES and the PSP version. One of which butchers the ending and the other butchers the setting by turning it into a VN.

Those releases are enough, and I'm honestly tired of this generation of remastering and rereleasing. I would honestly have Atlus use their money, time and manpower to create and improve the development cycle of Persona 6 instead of releasing a fourth version of Persona 3 for people incapable of playing the three already available to them.

franwex2557d ago

Exactly, the game is already available to whomever wants to play it. It's just a matter of doing it.

Razzer2557d ago

Adding it to PSN Classics would be good enough. It is a great game. If you just have a PS4 then you can't play this gem.

FinalFantasyFanatic2557d ago

This, there's enough versions of the game when it was at the height of it's popularity, no need to remake or remaster it. I'd rather them get to work on Persona 6 but it looks like we'll get a ton of spin-off first based on all those Domain Names Atlus registered.

_-EDMIX-_2557d ago

"Those releases are enough" No.

If a demand exist, you will see a remaster, re-release etc.

You playing it doesn't mean everyone else did.

"I'm honestly tired of this generation of remastering and rereleasing" Thats nice.... and how is that relevant to someone who never owned a PSP or PS3 or Vita to play Persona 3 and 4? So just lose money on sales when someone might want those games and will pay for them?

" I would honestly have Atlus use their money, time and manpower to create and improve the development cycle of Persona 6"

LMFAO! OHHHHHHHHHHH I see...you don't know how this works do you? First, SEGA would likely get a team to port or remaster it that actually does that, yes....a team that specilaizes in ports and remasters is the one that would do that version, ie Bluepoint games did the Uncharted Collection, NOT NAUGHTY DOG, Uncharted 5 or The Last Of Us 2 was not put on hold for a collection, you are not talking about the same process and its clear what you don't know about gaming in terms of the industry, might be why you have this stance.

Learn.

Read.

Understand who makes your games and who PORTS your games. They are rarely the same team and even if it is members of the same teams, it could be as low as 10 members porting it.

" instead of releasing a fourth version of Persona 3 for people incapable of playing the three already available to them"

So don't make more money that could fund Persona 6?

ok.

Don't enter the game industry in terms of business. That is like saying don't release a bluray remaster of Star Wars EP1 because the studio must focus on making a new star wars film.

For god sakes, the fact that you don't even know different people do that, is enough to ignore the majority of your post. You just don't know enough about how this process works to really make a meaningful post. "instead of" LMFAO! no......god no. That isn't how any of this works. Its not going to take a team of 80 developers YEARS to port a game.

You are basically crying about something you don't really understand in the first place. The 2 processes are irrelevant to each other...

Persona 3 Director Says The Game Saved Atlus From Collapsing

The studio was on the verge of collapse when Persona 3 came out, and things were looking quite grim for Atlus. Regardless, many decisions made in the game paid off and became a staggering success.

Years ago, I was emulating the game on my laptop and the old thing died when I was about to get to the final boss. I'm more than happy to buy this remake when it comes out so I can finish it!

TheColbertinator257d ago (Edited 257d ago )

At the time I was immersed in SMT Nocturne and later DDS. I did not realize at all how important Persona would become for me years later.

raWfodog257d ago

Persona 3 FES was the first one that I played in the series. Looking forward to the remake.

I'll have to make this a mission the next time I blow through Tokyo.

Hopefully soon, given the limited availability.

Seraphim307d ago

send me one while you're at it. I mean what's better than Whiskey and Persona? A cigar with the two, and that would be perfection personified.
