Pokemon Go - Why has this once so popular game fallen so hard?

Pokemon Go: A massive mobile gaming app that swept over the globe, but now only a small percentage of die-hard's play.

Several reasons.

1. Bugs, crashes, etc
2. Niantic took out various quality of life things
3. The game becomes a boring grind pretty much at level 20.
4. The hype train that existed at the very beginning and resulted in seeing large groups of 20+ people playing is no longer there, so it isn't as social as it used to be.

5. Blocked users with unlocked and rooted phones yet exploits still exist.

Right there with you Drpepperdude. I cant play a single Nintendo game because of my root. All i wanted was to uninstall junk apps, so i could have a longer battery life.

6. Slow updates, and zero good features for the first 3 months.

It was never a good "game". It didn't even review well and wasn't even a new concept. I remember legitimate ppl on here trying to convince me it was legit. It's things like Pokemon Go that are a stain on the industry. It even won multiple awards and i believe it beat Ratchet & Clank in one category, disgraceful. Ppl all want to be a part of something so bad that they never stop to look at the actual merit of what they are becoming a part of.

It was pretty fun dude. And Ill always have the memories of seeing hundreds of people downtown here in Indianapolis playing this. An experience no game has ever given me.

A completely cluster F of a launch in various regions. A rushed and bug ridden mess on release. Shutting down Pokemon tracking sites. Having next to no Pokemon to catch in rural areas......and the stupidity insane grid from level 20 upwards.

Having said that, the initial buzz and idea was great and having some so called "hardcore" fans trying to take a dump on it is quite sad, they some how felt threatened by a f2p game for a short time, but now that the game is irrelevant they can go back to their AAA games with season passes, dlc and microtransactions.

This is always the case with mobile games: there's a huge influx of players, players play then realise it's an extremely shallow excuse of a game and more of a slot machine and finally players who refuse to pay drop off leaving the fat whales still playing for god knows why.

Ridiculous walking distance criteria. Candy bullshit. Pokémon catch success rate is greedily dialed down to force players to buy more poke balls. Eevee evolving into the wrong doggo.

Because there's a 20 year old time tested series that this game could've easily copied, and been perfect. But no... they just made a bullshit walking app, that was never able to properly function. Why Nintendo outsourced it is beyond me, and how they messed it up so bad is even more confusing.
