I will be forced to get on PS Pro. The sole single advantage of the Scorpio is the console exclusives the Scorpio would look the best on. Good thing Red Dead means next to nothing for me otherwise I would probably need to buy a Scorpio.

Definitely fanboy news. RDR2 is I think the highest pre-ordered game right now, but it fails in comparison to where Halo, Call of Duty, GTA, and Battlefield were at this point.

No kidding. I find the idea of preorders being sold out ridiculous. False hype or whatever you want to call it. They should be able to take as many preorders as they want. If they ended up with not enough copies,the consumer would just be waiting until more came in.

But there is a reason for getting Scorpio if there's more console exclusives. Read Dead 2 is gonna be true 4k compared to like native 1600p on PS Pro. But as I said before I'm a Red Dead hater so I'm gonna need more than just overrated Red Dead.

Pre-ordering exists for financial reasons, 'gamers' keep falling for it...Pre-ordered sales allow publishers to book liquid asset's against low risk liabilities with accurate revenues within fiscal quarters that a game does not release in...they stabilize the 'red, red, red, black' issue that many industries face (as in, they have a single profitable quarter per year that hopefully makes up for the losses)...

the problem remains: the investors are on our side for the most part...they know that if a publisher releases a game that sucks...it'll flop...the answer on the business side of things has been incentives for people to pay for things that aren't released yet...investors trust it more or less, but it helps nothing else...it gives a higher window for investors to get out from under what very much is a risky industry.

It used to be that pre-ordering was a way to offset the dramatic sales decline that happened when people couldn't get what they wanted, and bought something else instead...but digital distribution and far superior production logistics...has removed that...but...that put investors back into the wait and see method...

and publishers hate that...so pre-ordering remains a thing...stop doing it...if pre-ordering popularity would go away, day 1 issues and rushing to hit specific deadlines with on fire products would end. If people would just buy something when it's available for sale and information on said product is out in the open...everything will get better.

why wouldn't i since you are all over the map just so that you can get your digs in with microsoft. you downplay scorpio for not being a mass seller based on how well xbox one has performed so far and say install base is key yet support nintendo because they have some good exclusives. all you are really trying to do is hit both kneecaps off of microsoft going on about how they are losing to the ps4 and losing to exclusives to nintendo. all while promotying what a big pc gamer you are with a powerful rig to further erode any value to what microsoft might be offering. it is all too predictable.

Bullshit. Xbox isn't a company and neither are PlayStation both are divisions of MS and Sony respectively and MS have considerably more money than Sony. If it wasn't for the PS, Sony would be screwed as none of their other divisions are doing well at all. Users though - yeah it's destroying MS but it doesn't stop me enjoying both systems.

It'll be interesting to see what potential exclusive content RDR2 gets as at the moment it's just being touted as specific online content. I loved the first one and can't wait for the 2nd.

Is it nonsense though?, Rockstar knows how many physical copies of their games are typically out in the wild on day 1. They know how many physical copies were out there for gta4, rdr and gta5, so if they have preorders that surpass those numbers than its not nonsense at all.

Yeah, it's not uncommon for games to become unavailable on Amazon prior to release. Amrs for Nintendo Switch is currently 'sold out' for pre-orders there, but I think we can all agree that's not because it's breaking sales records or anything.

Not that I have anything against PC gaming, but I work and make my living off a PC... I can't see using it to also play games will ever benefit my productivity. As it is now my PC and all my gaming consoles are on two different levels of the house. The only PC games I buy at all are 2D fighting games (my favorite genera) on Steam and play them via a beat old laptop in my game room. So basically 96% of my game purchases go to consoles, and I don't see that changing as long as consoles continue to exist.

Im not of big fan of GTA , just never clicked with me, but I did buy GTA5 and plan to play it someday, but RDR is one of my favorite games so I did go and preorder 2 awhile ago . Amazon gives 20% discounts to prime members so I do preorder a lot of games these days. Also PlayStation has a big install base. Add all of that up, R* game + Amazon Prime + PS4 = Sold out i guess?

The only interpretation of this that makes any sense is perhaps that Amazon's planned consignment of the title has already sold out. It's simple enough to address though, they simply do what any other retailer does and order more copies.

I suppose it is interesting to note that pre orders are so high that they exceeded Amazon's expectations, it bodes well for Rockstar.........and just think of all that tax Amazon get to dodge too, lovely jubly!
