Sony Bend to relocate existing office by fall 2017

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Bend Studio is the anchor tenant of Crane Shed Commons, the 50,000-square-foot, four-story office building under construction on Industrial Way.
Sony’s Bend Studio has been growing quietly while working on a forthcoming post-apocalyptic title, “Days Gone,” for PlayStation 4. The studio grew from about 45 to 103 employees during the game’s development, and there are no plans to downsize after the release, Studio Director Chris Reese told The Bulletin in July.

Nice indeed

if they're not planning to downsize after the release of Days Gone I think it might confirm that Sony is already looking at this like a future series.

I hope they find a good place.

Seems like they are expanding at a fast pace, probably by the time Days Gone ships they will be 200.

1. I can't believe that a 45 man team made Golden Abyss.

2. I can't believe Days Gone was built with such a small team. They started at 45 and have added up to the current total of 103 employees during the game's development. That means that the bulk of the game was probably made with a team of less than 90 ppl. Days Gone is a full scale AAA and it resembles an open Last of Us in many ways, a damn impressive feat for such a moderately sized AAA team. I hope they add 50 or more ppl from now until crunch.

Basically they started with as many total employees as Insomniac has animators working on Spiderman PS4. Insomniac has like 40 animators working on Spidey.

You'll be amazed at what committed people can achieve consider that a team of 11 people at remedy made Max Payne.

Keep investing in PlayStation Sony and you will reap the rewards. I think even sony is surprised by the huge success of PS4. Can't wait to see what huge bombs Sony drops this E3. Hopefully Bloodborne 2 is there 😍😍😍

That would be nice, but Id rather they fiddles with a few knobs at Activision and aquired (no pun intended) Tenchu and got From Software to make it.

A man can dream cant he?

Likely to continue their FPS project

That's..... confusing, so shut down but just reformed and same employer 🤔 sounds like pretty much what happened to Japan Studio basically just being rebranded as Asobi

It is odd one I don't know how business deals work or the law of that kind of stuff. But is it possible Sony reached out and said hey we want you apart of Sony but don't want to purchase you for what ever reason. How about use disband and we will open a studio and hire you guys type of thing. Is that even possible?

isarai4h ago

Maybe it's to void/bypass some contract? I have no clue

I guess the deviation team fell apart and didn't deliver good progress on what they pitched (they overhyped themselves when the team was announced)so Sony shut them down. They regrouped with a new team and a new pitch so Sony is giving them another shot.

And this time they are keeping it quiet to keep pressure down on the team. So people aren't asking everyday what deviation(or whatever the new team is called) is doing.

Edit: Also Sony never owned them. They just ended their partnership with them. Deviation decided to close on their own.

If this was MS they'd be gone.
