Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy May Be A PS4 Exclusive After All

Sony just sent out a newsletter that labeled Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, contrary to previous rumors.

if it is exclusive may i buy it (just to support the idea tha t Crash must be bought back) ...otherwise i wont support this .....Vicarius made a mediocre job , lot of details missing (insects , flora) , alot of missing/simplistic art from textures ,wrong colors in many areas ,Crash 's design needs rework (his mouth/jaw is not rectangular as in original and Crash looks like a retard now-along wiht other characters Cortex looks like junkie , not cunning) ......also a lot of crude cringe humor inside (Crash put the gems out of his ears or ass) make this remake abit repuslive

Looking forward to play this on Scorpio. It's going to be multiplatform and is timed exclusive to PS. Activision is the publisher too and that retractment tweet says it all.

It would be insane if Activision left all that money on the table.

The IP isn't moving Units for Sony so why should Sony spend money on an IP they don't own, to keep it away from other systems, when its likely not going to move any units for Sony?

Makes more sense to leave the deal as it is. I'd rather see them spend that money on a brand new IP.

"PlayStation 4 Exclusive" is pretty clear. If it was timed then it wouldn't carry the "PlayStation 4 Exclusive" logo.

I mean...unless Sony bought the IP, I'm not too sure about that. I don't even think the extra money that would even be spent to make it truly exclusive, is even worth it. I mean...how many PS4's is Sony selling based on this? Also how much money would it be for such a deal if its not even to own the IP?

The medium moves very, very, very fast. It might move units yes, not enough to justify the cost of actually buying the IP. Activision isn't handing it over for cheap and Sony likely doesn't want to buy it based on its not worth the cost. Its just be gone for so long.

Consider once 2001 came along and Sony had their teams on other IPs they actually owned, the Crash series was pretty much dead. I mean....we are talking about 16 years of just nothing significant. This makes sense for a timed deal based on marketing, or funding development, or distribution etc, but its just not worth buying the whole IP. UNLESS Activision is willing to give it for a respectable price and Sony has a plan to reboot the whole IP.

Sooooo looks like it might be timed as I don't see how Sony could stop another company from releasing title they legally own elsewhere. This just sounds like a timed game. I just don't see the IP being worth THAT much money that Sony would do this.

I laugh at all the developers that rush to make their games PS4 exclusive. Unless your game is Horizon or Nioh or the like, chances are your game will be overlooked in the sea of other PS4 games and it will end up selling poorly. A smart developer would release their game on Xbox or Switch right about now, because those consoles don't have a ton of games at the moment which would give your game a bigger chance to stand out.

A lot of these 3rd party games are exclusive because without funding from the publisher, they wouldn't exist. If Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo are funding the project, why would they want it on another platform? There is no benefit to them doing so.

Also in the case of this trilogy I don't see why anyone would be surprised it is PS exclusive. Activision might be the IP holder, but all three of these games were made by Naughty Dog, a Sony dev. They were also already PS exclusive titles.

The only people affected by this exclusivity are people who only own Xbox or people who are disinterested.

Considering the vast majority of the interest is from people with PS4s, I don't see how or why this matters.

I always intended to buy this game for PS4. Whether it's exclusive or not is irrelevant (or should be) to people in that position. Considering the PS4 MA M market share, I'm willing to bet most are unaffected by any developments related to exclusivity.
