this is likely the last e3 they have to prove it.

Lenrulesdaworld2592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

What about all the E3 prior to 2016. Did they not have exclusive titles through 2013, 14, 15, & 16? why would this be the last E3 to prove something?

4Sh0w2592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

Yeah, I'd agree. X1 has had great E3's and good games...It's perception though because of 3 factors:

Halo, Gears and Forza dominate their lineup, while all are great franchises they need to expand.

2 Games, Fable Legends and Scalebound (A much anticipated new IP) were canceled without much announced in the way of new games, I know that's what E3 is for but again it's about perception.

Sony has had droughts but they've had a couple really great new IP's that did really well after those droughts....imo ps4 doesn't have a massive amount of must have games/exclusives either but when your last exclusive is really great it does make folks ask, where's X1 next big game thats not Halo, Gears or Forza.

Christopher2592d ago

I think moldy was just referring to Scorpio.

HaveSumNuts2592d ago Show
Angel9112592d ago

They have released 3-4 exclusives every year..Go do some research before posting nonsense...

Last year

QB
RECORE
FH3
GEARS 4

Now whether you are a fan of these games or not..That's different thing..But they are releasing games every year... This year they are just holding games back for Scorpio launch.

Goldby2592d ago

@angel911

Hold back games for scorpio release? or releasing scorpio when all of their games normally come out.

i could understand the holding back if for example, they release Gear of war nromally in the spring, forza in the summer and halo in the fall, but they release all fo those around the same time. which just happens to line up with when they are releasing their new console.

and if its so easy to upscale games to scorpio level, would they not want to be releasing games that are scorpio ready before hand so that the console has a larger library of scorpio optimized games on release? afterall, the pro patches were being released before the pro was released

gamer78042592d ago

lol yah MS is almost out of money...

ShadowKnight2592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

@Moldybread
Someone is concerned 😏

freshslicepizza2592d ago

@Christopher,

We are getting late in the current gen cycle and Microsoft has something to prove. Scorpio for all purposes is supposed to be a fancier Xbox One much like the Pro if to that of the PS4. How many E3 events do they really have left to make any considerable impact for the 50 or however remaining millions of potential consumers out there who have yet gotten the new generation bug?

I would think in about 3 years we will start a whole new generation of at least the PS5 to start the whole cycle over. I do think Microsoft is doing away with this abrupt model and are moving towards generation leaps instead. When technology has made big advancements, not the common rule of thumb where it has to be 5 or 6 years based on tradition. So I guess maybe Scorpio will have a longer shelf life than the Pro? Who knows but the pressure has been building for quite some time E3 after E3 of Microsoft and their commitment to new games and potential new franchises.

donthate2591d ago

MS come through on everything on Scorpio, and then topped it off with more goodness. That freesync and hdmi 2.1 sounds delicious. If MS didn't have games to show this E3, they would have padded all this information into E3, but they didn't. So yeah, this E3 MS is going to bring it!

This is good for all gamers so rejoice!

freshslicepizza2591d ago

just read about freesync, pretty cool. microsoft has more surprises and the guy from digital foundry has more info he cant share right now. he seems very excited but also warned that it needs games too.

Utalkin2me2591d ago

@Angel911

3 of the 4 games you listed is not exclusive, plus Re-core was not well received at all and QB was mediocre. Again the only 2 titles that was worth picking up being GoW4 and Forza on the Xbox1. So you're telling me in a year and quarter thats the best MS has?

Then you go on to say people are going to have to wait for Scorpio to get exclusives for their Xbox1? Does that make much sense? MS is notoriously bad about doing this and have done it every generation of each console. But obviously alot of people dont care as long as you wave something shiny in their face here and there.

I think MS has had a great E3 since 2014. They have revealed some really good games in the last 3 years. Unfortunately some of them got canceled. But generally speaking till last November, it's been pretty good.

jaymacx2592d ago

Having a great E3 is one thing , actually releasing those games is another.

AngelicIceDiamond2592d ago

Its the cancellations that's hurting MS right now. Phil made it sound like he was going through a semi reconstruction phase during the podcast a month back. I'm just curious how ready they're gonna be at E3.

aconnellan2592d ago

@jay

I'm pretty sure that out of all the games revealed at E3 between 2013 to now, only 2 games have been cancelled

Is it the real penello or is gaming bolt making things up again?

TheUndertaker852592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

Credit url: https://majornelson.com/pod...

Doesn't even take a click.

gangsta_red2592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

Lol, too funny. That little event will forever be marked in the history books.

Kribwalker2592d ago

@theundertaker
I knew it was, the fact of the matter was that it shouldn't be forgotten too quickly that gamingbolt has been generating #fakenewsforclicks

TheUndertaker852592d ago

@Kribwalker: Awesomesauce.

Totally credible and on topic when the story originates from a source outside of gamingbolt. That's why it's the credit URL listed that doesn't require you to even click the gamingbolt link.

gangsta_red2592d ago

Krib...i dont think he understands the joke?

TheUndertaker852592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

@gangsta_red: Stated this before but no, I don't care for tasteless jokes that don't apply to the situation nor to derail a topic.

The joke isn't funny and doesn't apply as gamingbolt got their information from Major Nelsons podcast with Albert Penello which is stated to be the credit URL.

Sorry I answered the question factually on a gaming news site where people go to find information, not pointless unfunny jokes that aren't even relevant.

Outside_ofthe_Box2591d ago

Undertaker relax, they're all on your side. Kirb is just referring to the fact that gamingbolt made up news just days ago about a Ready at Dawn dev saying that the CPU upgrade for Scorpio isn't huge/amazing, which had no truth to it all.

Gamingbolt's already questionable credibility took a huge hit after that. It's not unreasonable for anyone at all to question whether what they are reporting are facts and truth. Makes you wonder if they've been doing this all this time in the past as well.

Does this mean it WILL have exclusives? Sorry, I'm not gonna open a GamingBolt article because I know it won't provide any new info.

XanderZane2591d ago

Yes, they will have exclusives. Phil has already said so a few times.

Theyve had a slow 2017. Hopefully with the release of their already announced 2017 games they will give us a map of future projects in the work for 2018 and beyond :)

Rude-ro2592d ago

Phil stated that they do not like to talk about games until they are close to releasing...
So, if they pull another 180 a year later from that comment, kind of keeps them on the pr ropes of all their 180's in gaming

BLKxSEPTEMBER2592d ago

Every 180 they made regarding Xbox one has been for the better. I'm not sure what 180 you're referring to. The fact that you're still using the old "180" term is kinda lame though and played out.

AngelicIceDiamond2592d ago

@Rude Phil made that statement recently because he said he was announcing games to early.

Rude-ro2592d ago

@Angelic
That is my point, but quite a few of the games they were talking about early are not even coming.
So was the early talk due to trying to fluff up their games library so they are not standing there looking like idiots?
So, when I replied, it is to the point that was made...
"Hopefully with the release of their already announced 2017 games(that were revealed 2 years ago) they will give us a map of the future"... would this not go against phil's "announcing games too early" pr that used as a dig against sony's stacked e3?

That's the problem with Microsoft on their heels... they talk too much to try and give fodder for the fan kids not realizing that they will need to do the same thing down the road.

They will need to talk about games this e3, but I love the irony of having to go back on why they did not talk about future games last e3 when in reality, they did not have any to talk about.

The defense force is too blind. If Microsoft would listen to the criticism, it would only reward them in the gaming business and with their consumers.

@slate91
I know. I hate Microsoft... because they are a monopolizing dirty marketing company.(proven through law suits, not just my opinion)
They are creating a third party war in gaming because they want to monopolize their precious digital world, not because they want to be a gaming business. They have even told everyone the only reason they were in it was to stop Sony from dominating the market.

Bring em on

candystop2592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

Xbox is back and stronger than ever. Well at least the console. Gotta see ehat happens at E3 1st but if they have truly been listening, we are in for a surprise.

2592d ago Replies(7)
TKCMuzzer2592d ago (Edited 2592d ago )

Really? I don't understand, they don't listen to fans, release a console that struggles, don't invest in new IP's, then to counter act everything release another new console that will be out of reach price wise for many of it's core who will ultimately be left behind as Microsoft concentrate on the Scorpio to counter act the inevitable PS5.
Xbox One owners will lose out in this whole scenario, which is ironic as they are the ones who have shown the most support.
Plus how is it a surprise if they have been listening? it would just be common sense. I like new hardware but this may be slightly out of control, we have to be wary of promoting a new console every time a one struggles, ultimately the Xbox One itself is not the issue, Scorpio is called diverting the attention.

2592d ago
nowitzki20042591d ago

If they have been listening it will be a first.

guyman2591d ago

Candystop

When it comes to talking smack, xbox fanboys have absolutely no ground to stand on, you know, with the xbox one's vastly inferior games library when compared to the Ps4's.

Cacabunga2d ago

If what they are doing is that good, what’s the point of hiding the true story?

anast2d ago

She's a caricature of the shareholders.

PRIMORDUS2d ago

"Shareholders" I call them cancer, they are already rich to begin with but need more and more. It's like a disease, with no cure.

__y2jb1d 10h ago

If you have a pension then you are likely to be a shareholder in these big tech companies yourself. To demonize them as 'heartless rich people' shows you have no idea what you're talking about.

anast1d 9h ago (Edited 1d 9h ago )

@Y2

Of course, it isn't about that. You are attempting to set up a self-righteous strawman to stir up some kind of ignorant mob mentality.

And by the way, most everyone is a touch heartless or we wouldn't be able to consume the products we do knowing very well how they are made. People have to be this way because of self-preservation and convenience.

__y2jb1d 6h ago

@anast please explain to me how what i said is self righteous or a strawman. I simply pointed out that categorizing all shareholders as cancer is ridiculous.

Leeroyw2d ago

I own shares in game companies. I'm not anything near a major share holder. I just want them to make good games and be successful because of that. I think it's the senior management that's the problem. They are the ones that should be making it clear to the shareholders what creates growth and ensures a future of their business. Not this weasle words garbage that she did on the interview. It was horrific. I don't know a shareholder that would be happy with any of them for this.

Profchaos1d 23h ago (Edited 1d 23h ago )

Same and I'm not rich by any stretch like most people's I'm just trying to keep my head above water these days most company's shareholders are made up of everyday people it's amazing how companies think we want something but the reality is we don't.

Disney are probably the worse at the moment it's shareholders voted on ending a lot of the crap and outing the current execs the execs turned around and said no we disagree with the shareholder vote

PRIMORDUS1d 18h ago

I meant at the rich fucks who have millions in the bank already. They are making so much per year, that if they don't make what they are expecting they go into a panic, when in reality it will not even hurt them at all. Those are greedy assholes.

anast1d 9h ago

"you have a pension then you are likely to be a shareholder"

Pensioners don't make any decisions about anything. Obviously that is not what this is about.

CrimsonWing692d ago

Yea, it was and it’s insulting that they think we’re dumb enough to fall for this. Look, the truth was you took a gamble on these studios and while they released some games to critical praise and great reception they just aren’t bringing in a ROI. Be transparent, you’re not a politician.

Just tell everyone you spend money on projects big and small and when money isn’t being made you go over the potential of revenue a studio can bring in vs those that can’t and make the hard decision to chop them.

She says this whole thing about “success” doesn’t fit one meaning for each studio. Well yea, a small budget production isn’t going to expect to sell the same as a large budget production.

One thing I wish they did though was let Tango be an independent studio.
