Microsoft has coughed up detailed tech specs for the Xbox Scorpio, and the hardware is impressive. There is no doubt that Scorpio will be the most powerful gaming console on the market, and that power will bring immediate benefit to your existing game library.

Maybe that luxury sports car only gets gas twice a year because it is a new gen hybrid that is extremely fuel efficient? Scorpio looks to be extremely efficient as well and it is a new gen hybrid so I can see it as the luxury model that will improve everything that you put on it.

The Digital Foundry reveal has more likes than when they did the PS4 Pro analysis.
The only delusional ones are the same ones still downplaying. You and Space mad af that titles like BF1, Battlefront will be 4K/60fps on Scorpio. Dont be surprised if some devs switch marketing deals to Scropio in future to showcase the best console version.

There are other areas that team Xbox need to fix as well, but power has it's benefits, and with DX12 implemented into the silicon it should allow XB Scorpio to easily receive a lot of PC ports quickly, giving it some Console exclusives it needs (even though PC games generally don't translate well to high console sales).

Trust idiots to "dislike" the PS4 Pro reveal, the console that was dubbed "PS4K" by many people, and then the same people get completely and utterly shocked when they talk about 4K resolution more than anything. In fact, because Sony didn't mandate that all games must be 60fps, THAT is also why people hated the PS4 Pro reveal too. Guess what? Microsoft didn't do it here for Scorpio either. I called this out MONTHS ago and knew people wouldn't care when Scorpio did the EXACT same thing.

Now its the exact same thing at the Scorpio reveal (but there are more details now like the fact it DOESN'T use some game changing, next gen advanced CPU). There wasn't any new IPs shown either like so many fans said "they HAVE to show something".

So now it looks like Scorpio will be relying on the GPU to handle lots of CPU tasks, something Mark Cerny TOLD every developer at the PS4 reveal 4 years ago but devs couldn't utilise this on multiplats because of the crutch known as the Xbone. Thank goodness for PS4 exclusives that are pure GDDR5 exclusive juggernauts.
Luckily with Xbone as the main target for developers, its should be easy to get any of that console's games to 4K.

oh yeah, mark cerny. the same guy who told the world it takes at least 8 tflops to do 4k and how the ps4 pro has 2 gpu's and how they had to lock the power out because it meant the system would be unstable to play previous games without a patch. on the contrary we have the team at xbox who not only showcased it can do true 4k but also improve its backcatalog better and not overcomplicate the matter like cerny did AND have xbox 360 games play better and load faster.

Absolutely agreed I believe that Microsoft is easily in a better position than Nintendo because they create the hardware to get that third party support in the first place so they'll probably have no problem selling systems anytime soon but in regards to their competition against the PlayStation I see it's going to hurt their sales because it's very difficult to ask someone to buy a system like this over the PlayStation when it doesn't actually have any exclusives especially if these users own gaming PCs.

I've been telling people for years the PlayStation PC and Nintendo handheld combo is like the most lethal combo to have.

They aren't just going to sit in a static state knowing how important exclusives are. Also. Most games for consoles are not exclusives and MS has tons of third party support. The biggest problem for consumers is they might have ended up purchasing a system for basically multi-platform games where had they had known this from the beginning of the generation they might have changed their minds.

You're talking about very confusing and mixed messaging because they're basically selling a system that is clearly very powerful but by default could never be more powerful than the modular PC a device they're already putting all of their games on and have already stated they're going to continue such a thing in the future which begs the question why does this exist?

I thought this was obvious. Though I will say that first, ppl love new toys, as was evidenced when the X1S came out. It sold very well, as will this. Add to it some exclusivity like CoD, RDR2 etc. and it gives ppl a reason to buy.

I've been looking for a reason to get one cuz I lived my 360, but I just dunno why I wouldn't upgrade my PC or play these games on the PS4. Probably cuz I like new toys too!

Scorpio is just an upgrade for current XBO gamers who want to move up to a more powerful console, and theoretically have better performing XBO games and hopefully 360.

Nothing wrong with that. MS would be wise to advertise it as the next Xbox though that has full support of XBO games, rather than a mid-gen upgrade to casual consumers if they want the console to sell beyond the upgrade crowd and be a bigger success for them than the PS4 Pro has been for Sony (which has done well).

But the true power is the GPU. The GPU is 6 teraflops with 326 gigabits of bandwidth.

We have been here long enough to know what "custom cpu" terms mean lol and have evidence of "custom" chips in all consoles, inlcuding the "custom" chip in Switch lol Custom chips are rarely much different from their base models aside from some upclocking and mijor customizations.

Yes the GPU is stronger, just like it was in the "Pro" and is where the true upgrade comes from. some things are more CPU reliant than GPU reliant, hence the sincere disappointment in ppl in regards to the cpu being a bottleneck. Again Native 4K at 60fps or 4K in general will still be an issue for the Scorpio. Will it be able to do better than the Pro? Of course its realeasing a year, to a year and a half later and has a better gpu and upclocked cpu, it better lol

Forza being the showpiece for Scorpio is not impressive to me. Racing games and fighting games tend to be games that can reach higher resolutions and better performance due to closed nature and being less graphically taxing. Remember GT was 1080p on ps3 lol years ago and it was due to that same reason.

@Blk-Microsoft selling less systems than Sony you have to understand that generally most sites are statistically are going to have more PlayStation Gamers than Xbox Gamers, I'm sorry buddy but that's their own fault for making terrible decisions people want to play games and Microsoft has done an absolutely terrible job as a publisher.

Understand that I own a PlayStation 4 and I own a very good well off gaming PC and I don't even have a reason to purchase any of Microsoft games that's far despite them announcing they're releasing all of them on PC scalebound was probably the only game I was actually really looking to purchase buy Microsoft this generation that says a lot when there's only one title from this publisher that I want and they cancelled it.

At the end of the day regardless of what you have to say people by this Pacific Hardware to play games and win their Hardware selling less than PlayStation it is very clear they did not deliver this concept to their consumers if someone shows PlayStation over Xbox I'm telling you this as a person that has a machine that is capable of playing Microsoft games and still decided to not buy any Microsoft games this generation.

I was expecting more power. I thought MS announced 6tfps early so they would over deliver. I also expected a VR or AR headset to be announced with it. I thought MS is going to go the innovation route but they just went with more power. I was certain there would be something more to the reveal when Shinobi predicted that there would be something "huge" announced along with the reveal. Instead we learned that its a overclocked jaguar. Dont get me wrong, power is great, but its not enough to get me to spend another $400+ Also i think E3 should answer some of these questions.

What I care about is not missing out on AAA games. As long as I have all playstation exclusives and all third party, and they are running decently on the ps4 pro like 1440-1800p, I don't care if it's at 4k on Scorpio. I have all the selection with no limitations. That's more important to me.

Polygon back again with its click bait articles. No games? I get that PlayStation has much more and arguably better exclusive games. I own a PS4Pro to enjoy those games as best as it's possible with he Pro and a 4K HDR TV.

But to say the specs won't matter without no games is just nonsense. And typhical crap that you can expect from Polygon or any fanboy that suddenly don't play anything besided exclusive games...

Both the PS4Pro and Scorpio is aimed for those who wants the best graphics and performance you can get from a console. And by the look of things Scorpio will rip the PS4Pro apart.

I as most PlayStation owners enjoy the quality and wide range of different type of exclusives on the platform. But let's not kid ourselves. Most big AAA games are from third party studios.

And Scorpio will be the go to place for all of those games. Let's not forget it will benefit old games as well. Backwards compatibility while is big on Xbox is more or less non excisting on PlayStation.

So let's just stop the act will we. Xbox just raised the bar and no amount of badly written articles or fanboys can do anything about it.

Of course it's going to have games. It will have a tone of 3rd party support. However, unless Microsoft do a 180 on the play anywhere. It simply won't have exclusives which is the major reason why I probably won't buy one (unless they go all at madness and say Xbox Scorpio £250 which won't happen).

The Xbox One was a very hard sell to me in the first place (the actually exclusive they had at the time was not for me) but having zero exclusives. For someone like my self what's the point in buying one?

The specs Scorpio are about what I expected, I thought Microsoft would go with a 36CU Polaris GPU clocked around 1305Mhz to hit the mark, rather than 40CUs at 1172Mhz to hit 5.99TFlops.
Ryzen and Vega were never going to happen.

The hardware no doubt seems great, especially with the hardware implemented DX12 features (which likely includes Vulkan optimized game features to), now everything rests on the price and games support.

Even at $499 it will be pretty much impossible to buy a PC that can match the value of the box Microsoft are making, multiplats will easily be updated to run better than PS4 and Pro versions, so it will be up to either 3rd and 1st party devs to take the time to port existing XB1 games to Scorpio, unless Microsoft take it upon themselves to set up a coding team to handle the work for games that devs don't want to update themselves.

Personally I'm impressed, as a PS4 though I'm happy with the ecosystem I have, Sony's range of exclusives trumps what Microsoft has either already on the system or coming down the line and it seems pretty much a given that Sony will announce and release PS5 in 2019.

I'd potentially buy a Scorpio for the few exclusives XB1 has and the other Windows games you can't get on PS4, but for multiplats I'm not going to rebuy the ones I already own on PS4 for Scorpio.
I guess this could be where Game Pass becomes really beneficial, I'd be fine paying £8 or something like that a month to gain access to exclusives and multiplats XB1 and 360 games, if the service offers enouhh games I don't already own (I have a 360 already, with a pretty sizeable collection of 7th gen games).

Microsoft needs to show me Scorpio would be worth my time and hard earned cash.
