one of the most underrated game of all time. I loved firs The Getaway game. waiting for The Getaway 3!

Agreed.
I loved both of them (even more than the early GTAs). I always wondered why this excellent series wasn't continued. I'd like to see an open world modern London featured in a new Getaway game.

Poor public reception. Controls were awkward and not standard, story was super serious.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the series a lot. Seemed different for the times and I really enjoyed the more serious tone and characters. But I can see why it wasn't popular...

I feel like now I don't even want a third game now. It would be too dumbed down, controls would be super standard run and gun. I don't know, think we need to take the two we got, cherish them, and just hope the best happens.

One of my favorite PS2 games. Was a nice change of pace from the wacky GTA games at the time. I literally bought a PS3 because I was expecting to be able to play The Getaway 3 at some point, but alas that time never came.

I sort if disagree with The Getaway. Playing it all those years ago, it had a dodgy control system, more so vehicles, was slow and was graphically unfinished. The sequel was even worse and the third game on PS3 was canned. I think Sony should take both games and merge them into one (as with the soon to be released Max Payne 1 and 2). Weird how Sony messed up The Getaway never to be seen again.

Mark Hammond. What a great game. It was much better than part 2. This game defined what true next gen was to me back in that generation, it's definitely due for a remake.

Excellent game, Black Monday wasn’t too good but the first one was amazing. The way the waypoint system worked with car indicators and the healing mechanic leaning against the wall. Loved it.

This game looked so good back in the day. Still holds up well even now. Could you imagine what a PS5 remake would look like?

How PlayStation’s The Getaway managed to outdo, yet fail against, GTA 3

The ambitious PS2 action game is still revealing secrets to this day.

I loved the Getaway. Its controls are/were a bit dated and hard to use, but playing what is basically GTA in London was really cool. Such a great setting for a criminal underground gangster game. I like that it flipped between the cops and the criminals.

Sequel was good too, and the tech demo they released for PS3 with Amsterdam as an extra setting looked great. I was pretty disappointed when it got canned.

The Getaway was great. It felt unlike anything else. I'd really love to see Sony revive the franchise. GTA is taking longer and longer between releases. So it would be nice to play through other open world crime games while we wait. Sony can revive The Getaway. MS can revive True Crime. Saints Row is finally coming back this year too.

man, would love more contemporary action crime games, open-world or not. The matrix awakens demo makes me want those a lot more now, the possibilities of a good action game with those visuals.

The Getaway had some ideas. Sony was stupid for scrapping the series

I always forget about this one. Played a bunch and loved it but never beat it. Never understood why this is one they never ported to new gen or even remade/rebooted
