Why do I feel like if Nintendo actually did what the letter asked and showed a "rape rack" for the cow insemination and all that other brutality, that PETA would have instead written a scathing letter for showing such violence towards animals?

Don't get me wrong: I am absolutely for ethical treatment of animals (and at least not-mustache-twirlingly-evil treatment of animals meant for production/food), but PETA...pick your battles. This seems like an overreach and will likely only work to undermine your legitimate complaints in many people's minds.
