Persona 5 Review Scores 9.5 Out Of 10 From GamesMaster; “Better Than Final Fantasy 15”

GamesMaster magazine recently gave a 95% rating for Persona 5, saying it feels like a fresh and innovative experience despite it not revolutionizing the JRPG genre.

Yeah if it is close to Sukoden II then I'm in. Looking at the comment on the comparison in the article he said it is better than FFXV but not as good as Sukoden II. That means he is also saying a game from 1999 is better than FFXV.

Lots of games from 1999 (and earlier) are better than FF15. When your historically story focused jrpg series gets "praise" like "mediocre story but the combat makes up for it" you've ****ed up.

While I agree in quality that it will be. It's commercial success may limit it in the end. Personally, I don't see another game beating this for me. The possible games were RDR2 and ME:A. ME is damn good but I think the polish of P5 will be spectacular. No idea what to think of RDR2 yet!

With the likes of HZD, RDR2, Zelda etc, I just don't see many giving it to Persona 5.

I do see how ever a few giving it a GOTY. Its a solid enough title from what I'm hearing that your going to see at least some give it their GOTY award.

Another one? Geez.....Sony is knocking them dead. I'm sure most in the media will vote for Zelda, but there can be no question that with the likes of Nier:Automata, Horizon Zero Dawn, Nioh, Yakuza, Persona 5, with more to come this year from Sony, ps4 has both quality and quantity won this year by a wide margin.

Why should Sony? It's an exclusive, yes, but they don't own the franchise, aren't publishing it, Persona games have appeared on rival consoles (Persona Q was on the 3DS) and the series simply isn't a commercial success. According to VGChartz, the Vita version of 4 outsold the PlayStation 2 version and even then we're talking talking about a combined sum that is less than 2 million.

Yes, but unlike Persona, Call of Duty gets a lot of sales and being able to associate that title with your brand/company is worth something. To put it into perspective, according to VGChartz, every Call of Duty on the Wii outsold Persona 4 on the PlayStation 2, with one of them outselling Persona 4 on the Vita and PS2 combined, another almost outselling both and two more than have about 75 percent of that sum. This is an absurd difference in value.

Not that FF15 wasn't good. It was. But my expectations for P5 were quite a bit higher so this is good!

Only cameos and tiny references go between the mainline games. Much like ff, the story and characters are all standalone. So when you finish this you should play 3&4 for more greatness.

As far as gamble buying, when this game released last year in japan, it got rave reviews from them and importers. I think you are in for a treat. Plus dual audio

Try Berseria, I'm playing it now and im hooked. The main character is bad ass and so far im having fun.

I personally liked Xillia, it was Xillia 2 that was bad and Zestria was just terrible but Berseria has imo brought the series back.

when i think of persona i think mostly of stupid grinding ad nauseum. i liked that when i was 12. today i wish the jrpg devs were able to bring the genre to a next level instead of pushing their rinse-and-repeat button.

oh and while i enjoyed playing ff15 it was far from a great entry. so for me "better than ff15" is no valid argument concerning a 9.5. this review sounds more like biased asf to me.

I'm glad the critical reception is good. I'm enjoying Mass Effect: Andromeda but I can't help but feel that it's somewhat of a disappointment. Hopefully Persona 5 will be worth the wait.
