This article is incredibly spoiler heavy. Tony Brasel of Gaming Rebellion examines Breath of the Wild, to see why it gets so many perfect scores yet still falls just short of perfection.
VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "With Tears of the Kingdom being so recent and Nintendo’s next system likely coming soon, it’s safe to say we won’t be looking at another big Zelda launch title this around and it’ll likely be years before any ruminations of the next game start to surface, but in the meantime we can always speculate. Breath of the Wild changed things for the series by multiplying its popularity manyfold, so it would seem only logical that the franchise will continue along the path Breath of the Wild started, however a look at the series’ history shows it might not be as simple as that. So, let’s take a look at what the future of this legendary series might have in store for us, blending in equal parts qualified theorizing and wishful thinking."
The Nintendo Switch has been an undeniable success for Nintendo, but which games make the best selling chart for the console?
Nintendo made out like bandits with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It's the same game that was on the WiiU except they added 2 item boxes like in double dash.
this is why i always say that Nintendo will always be fine. look at those numbers lol
and those are all first party games.
Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."
I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.
but still considered the best of the seties.
i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.
25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.
Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.
You could explore for hours just farming shit in the world. It's that awesome.
It might be the most playable game ever made. It wants you to explore for 5 hours at a time and you can sink over 120 hours into it easily, more if you're a completionist.
Its not "perfect" but its so good it deserves a ten.
It's pretty damn close to perfect:) it's amazing I'm happy to wander around exploring.
I don't know about perfect because I'm still a long ways off from finishing it... but I haven't felt this immersed in a game world since the original Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii.
It's also great to see a game that keeps its core mechanics so simple after so many hours. Its game world is massive, and there's a lot of stuff to do and learn, but unlike other games, it always keep things simple and on point instead of bogging you down with endless menus and stats and gear perks that you never learn what the hell they do. I honestly haven't seen an open world game this massive and straightforward and accesible all at the same time. It's really refreshing.
