Are we talking seconds, minutes or hours here?

G20WLY2613d ago

Maybe hearing it from multiple outlets could make the diehards accept it. There have been several reviews in the 6 or 7/10 area. Are they all trolls? Or are some people recognising the issues and not just praising the great parts?

zidane13412613d ago

Lol at all the Sony fanboys bringing up anything to do with Xbox when nobody was talking about the Xbox. You guys are crazy. Halo wars 2 is pretty damned great, but have fun acting like it doesn't exist.

Aenea2613d ago

@zidane

The most off-topic post of the day goes to you! Congrats!

My post, the one I replied and the replies to mine didn't mention Xbox or Sony, let alone Halo Wars 2, so: huh?

FlyingFoxy2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

Like i said before, end of the day play what you enjoy, scores are all subjective on anything. Then you get trolls muddying the waters.

Anything 7+ is good also.

As for people who say something is bad that i enjoy, am i suddenly going to start hating that? Nope, same for movies as well. I'm not a sheep and i don't follow everyone around like all what they say matters, because it doesn't.

YAO-BLING2614d ago

Looks like the unpaid/true reviews are starting to come out.

solderman2613d ago

sadly won't count on metacritic

Gazondaily2613d ago

Ah so this is unpaid? PLOT TWIST: POLYGON were the only reviewer of The Last of Us that were NOT BRIBED. WOOO! #polygon #therealmvp

"sadly won't count on metacritic"

Actually it does. But unfortunately for you, it doesnt add points to Horizon 😂

-Foxtrot2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

Well I wouldn't say people were paid off buuuut I think it helps when you spend more time with the game

MGSV was the same, it even happened to me. At first I thought it was fantastic but the more I played week after week I started to see the problems.

I think some reviewers were just scared the same shit that happened with the Gamespot Skyward Sword 7.5 review would happen again. I mean Jim Sterling just got a DDoS attack over his review and 7 is still a decent score.

@Spetic

Seriously what has Horizon got to do with this...I mean really. Besides the actual written review of that Last of Us Polygon review didn't make sense, not just the score. A big problem for the guy was the weapon sway in the guns despite the fact you upgraded them in the game...they were old, used weapons from the old world of course they needed repaired

That Sony conspiracy man and those "ponies"

*shakes fist*

Gazondaily2613d ago

"Seriously what has Horizon got to do with this..."

It has EVERYTHING to do with this

candystop2613d ago

I'm happy to see this game piss on all the egos of the Sony faithful. Paid reviews, hype or whatever you claim brings me happiness! Thank you Zelda

GTgamer2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

@Septic
You love making everything Sony I swear wtf this gotta do with horizon -_-.
End of the day Sony still dropping high rated exclusives can't say the for your console of choice tho and we all know it ain't a Nintendo switch but since you can bash Sony you become a Nintendo fan :/ buddy we see through you.

Krangs_Uncle2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

@candystop

I guess the only thing funnier than what you said, is the fact that you are your ilk are hiding behind Zelda reviews, because there is sweet F ALL on your XBox. Laughable.

Nioh - 87
Nier - 89
Horizon - 89
Persona - I'd put money on 90+

That's within a month or so, that has never been seen before and I'm not even taking into account PS exclusives released earlier in the year. Must hurt, I get it.

remixx1162613d ago

@septic

Dude you are the fakest person on this site.

I used to fine you credible but you've become a real dick riding sony hater as of late and someone doesn't even need to mention Sony for you to bring them up.

They are dropping dime after dime and it's like it burns you inside.

Gazondaily2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

@GTgamer

"End of the day Sony still dropping high rated exclusives can't say the for your console of choice tho and we all know it ain't a Nintendo switch "

Bro I'm the first to admit- PS is dominating- XBox is getting its arse destroyed by Sony but THIS- this bullshit shows just how petty the Sony fanboys are. 90% of the haters of Zelda on here ride Sony hard like Shuhei Yoshida will 50 shades of grey them. I brought Horizon in because its PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that most of the Zelda hate comes from the salt caused by Horizon getting overshadowed in critical reception by Zelda.

Yes Xbox fanboys are latching to Zelda reviews. Yes Nintendo fanboys ar getting their ass hurt by low scoring reviews and Yes Sony fanboys are the biggest haters of Zelda because they are mad at the score its getting. They dont just love their console, they LOVE to hate yours.

This is a 'true'' unpaid review? Because it scored less than what 84 othee critics scored? They are all paid?

GTFO!

Imalwaysright2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

@ Septic

Agree 100%. This campaign against Zelda and the integrity of reviewers is akin to what happened to Overwatch when it won GOTY at the game awards last year and all because it beat Uncharted 4 for it. The downplaying and excuses as to why it wasn't deserving of getting the award began immediately http://n4g.com/news/1989824... (second comment on the thread from someone that likes to point out that Zelda has flaws is hilarious).

Zelda's sin is to have a higher metacritic score than any other game released this gen and reviewers sin was to give Zelda the scores to achieve it.

gangsta_red2613d ago

It's strange to see people take offense to Zelda's high scores. It's as if Nintendo isn't known for making high quality games that are not only engaging but fun.

Why are the low reviewed scores considered unpaid or true? And why is the focus on Septic and not actually Yao's comment? This has to make people wonder just how true Septic's statement might be. How no one bats an eye at other games that have gotten high scores but when Zelda gets them and over takes other well know titles, all of a sudden perfect scores become an issue of debate.

@Septic

Wow, Sep, dragging Horizon into this, never expected that kind of troll'ish behaviour....

Erik73572613d ago

What a butthurt comment about the game being higher rated

Realms2613d ago

@Septic

So salty does it bother you that much that Sony is getting good games meanwhile the xbox is getting nothing as far as exclusives? Even the Switch as under powered as it is has Zelda, Nioh, Nier, Horizon, Gravity Rush, Yakuza 0, and soon Persona 5 all good games they may not all be 10/10 games but they worth playing meanwhile MS has what to offer? We get it you hate Sony, it's fans and it's games so go play Wildlands, or Zelda. LOL

Realms2613d ago

Ah look if it isn't MS fanboys coming to Zelda's defense. LOL

@Septic one word SALTY!!
@gangsta_red equally strange is how Zelda has some issues yet hardly any reviewer that gave it a 10 mentioned it or even brought up.

No early reviewer gave an objective review they mentioned everything they loved about the game and forgot to mention it's flaws sorry if gamers that have now played the game didn't fall in line with the narrative of Zelda being the greatest game ever.

DARKKENT2613d ago

Everyone just laugh at septic

His hurt Xbox is getting whopped

Saddest c**t on this site

Gazondaily2613d ago

Lmao...im schooling you kids all day every day

ravens522613d ago

I grew up playing Zelda. It's a great franchise. It's jus Horizon Zero Dawn has it beat this generation, period. Everyone I know who has played both say HZD is like Zelda on crack. I agree

guyman2613d ago

Sorry Septic Tank, you haven't schooled anyone.

gangsta_red2613d ago

@realms

"Ah look if it isn't MS fanboys coming to Zelda's defense. LOL"

Well someone had to considering how sony fanboys hate every and any game that isn't on their system.

"equally strange is how Zelda has some issues yet hardly any reviewer that gave it a 10 mentioned it or even brought up."

Strange how 10's were given out to TLG despites it's design issues and yet it was hailed by some as a master piece. Hardly anyone saw the controversy or complained as hard as some are here doing right now for Zelda.

It's amazing how bad some here want Zelda to be scored low but then start a riot for a game of their preference on their prefered system if that score is a 7 or below.

Maybe Zelda is just that good that reviewers can look past the technical issues that might pop up from time to time.

I don't know, maybe some here should actually play the game before lacing up their boots with red laces and grabbing the bats.

Gazondaily2612d ago

@gangsta

"And why is the focus on Septic and not actually Yao's comment? "

Lmao exactly! This cult is downright delusional 😂

CaptainObvious8782613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

I'm not going to deny there are some sony fanboys that can take things to the extreme. (I can even do it on occasion).

And I'm not going to deny that zelda appears to be a very good game.

But for all you other hypocritical sh*ts out there and in this post (you especially, septic), is it really beyond your imagination that, maybe, just maybe, Zelda was marked against a different standard? That a majority of the reviews had nostalgic, rose tinted industrial goggles on when playing it? That just because of 'zelda' being in the title and that it released along side a new console some reviewers automatically gave it an extra 2 points before they even selected 'new game'? Is that really beyond the realm of possibility?

It's a great game, but it still has flaws, and some of them somewhat glaring, and for it to get a 97 on meta while it has these flaws is an absolute fking joke, an absolute fking joke.

And you sit there like the fanboys you are, calling us bitter sony ponies for pointing out this blatant double standard? gtfo hypocrites.

We're not mad because zelda scored higher than horizon. I COULDN'T care less. What we are mad about is that zelda's flaws were ignored by a lot of reviewers and your fanboyism is preventing you from just acknowledging that might be a possibility.

2613d ago
guyman2613d ago

Nice one Candystop.

Enjoy playing one game with pretty average to horrible performance whilst ps4 owners are swimming in nioh, horizon, Yakuza zero, Nier automata, gravity rush 2. O man, it sucks to have a PS4 (Just kidding, it sucks to only have a switch or an xbox one, since those consoles have far less great games)

The proper reviews are starting to show up and expose Nintendo's shady practices. DDos me bro!!

DanteVFenris6662613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

Anyone who's played it would highly disagree. It's the best game I've played in a long time and most reviews and gamers share that.

With that reasoning than only the lower scores horizon reviews were the proper ones.

mezati992614d ago (Edited 2614d ago )

i guess honeymoon is over? lol

Imalwaysright2613d ago

@vergilxx3

Any proof that Nintendo is paying for reviews or is that just wishful thinking?

Moonman2614d ago (Edited 2614d ago )

Can't wait to see the fanboys vomit when a troll 6/10 for the Last Of Us Part II comes in. Karma will be hilarious. No game in history has more 10's than Breath Of The Wild according to metacritic. Super Mario Galaxy 2 and The Last Of Us previously held the record with 42.

subtenko2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

Why TLOUll? Looks like u da troll :p

goldwyncq2613d ago

andybock2613d ago

I'm writing both of you dumb asses down. How the f--- am I the troll when I own all three games I mentioned and will buy TLOU II????? Can't wait to see you both puke.

Why The Last Of Us Part II? Because it's obvious as kool aid on a white shirt that it will not be a 6/10. LMAO

IIFloodyII2613d ago

GTA4 holds the record with 57 perfect scores, Zelda fanboys just ignore this fact though, or say it doesn't count because it's on multiple platforms, despite BoTW also being on multiple platforms.

LordScorpio2613d ago

Nintendo fans getting slammed hard and Scorpio ain't even out yet. E3 is going to have a lot of Ndrones crying murder!

mocaak2613d ago

Well at least Zelda isn't getting a review that says, "Zelda should have ended with the first entry", like an Uncharted 4 review by Washington Post. Or a 65 review by someone at Gamecritics who didn't even finish half of Horizon Zero Dawn, or a teenage girl giving HZD 5/10 as her first ever review.

2613d ago
thorstein2613d ago

What country are you in where that isn't allowed?

Gazondaily2614d ago

Doesnt seem like clickbait to me- Google translate struggled a bit but I CAN see the author make some points to justify their score- if the world feels soulless and empty and the shrines do nothing for you, then you might not enjoy it.

I can see that as someone who absolutely loves the game so far and takes my switch to work every day.

2614d ago
Lightsbane2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

I'm tired of saying this in every review that gets posted, but I'll say it one more time:
Magazines have multiple reviewers. It wasn't Bjørnebekk who gave Horizon a 9/10.

Even if it had been him, the games are different enough to warrant considerably different scores. But again, it wasn't.

goldwyncq2613d ago

Professional reviews should take into consideration the objective quality of the game before the personal enjoyment of the one playing it.

Lightsbane2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

There is no such thing as an objective game review.

Destructoid tried doing it once, for fun, and yes it was a nice joke. But that's all it was...

BG115792613d ago

So enjoying the game come next to technical issues like framerate...
So if that would be the case, Zelda botw wouldn't have gotten perfect scores just because of framerate problems.

rainslacker2613d ago (Edited 2613d ago )

An objective review is quite possible.

I remember giving one in a comments section for the first Gears of War. Gears of War existed in a genre that I wasn't terribly fond of(action shooter, later to morph into cover shooter), and had the dudebro space marine motif that i really dislike. I wasn't even a huge fan of Epic games or Unreal tournament.

But despite that, after playing it, was more than capable of looking at the game on it's technical merits, and putting myself into the shoes of it's intended audience. I was capable of looking at it's flaws, and discussing said flaws as well as putting those flaws into context of the overall experience.

Now, I enjoyed the game enough to complete it. But i wouldn't say it was my favorite game of all time. Good game, and a technical masterpiece for it's time. As a personal score, I'd give it a 7, because I found it fun enough, but didn't care for the motif or the story. Game play was solid as they come though. On an object scale though, I'd give it a 9, because I recognized how someone who is into those kind of games would likely enjoy such things.

So this idea that reviews are just subject opinions is flawed, and it needs to stop being used. Instead of dismissing review scores that you don't agree with as one persons opinion, demand better ethics and consistency in reviews overall. The idea of a review is that subjective analysis is based on objective review. If the reviewer doesn't get the objective part right, then the subjective part is just an opinion piece, not a review.

Bottom line, if one really cares about one person's opinion that much, they need help. Reviews aren't there to validate the writer, they're there to serve the readers interest. They stopped doing that in the internet age.

Mykky2613d ago

You are right, it's not clickbait. I've been reading gamer.no's reviews for years and they use the 1-10 scale as it should be used. A 5 is considered a average game while a 6 is a good game but with some flaws. The score gamer gives is usually a point or two lower than what another site with the same opinion would give.

+ Show (4) more repliesLast reply 2613d ago
BG115792613d ago

I don't think people are going to risk a DDOS attack over Clickbait.
It seems that Jim opened the door for bad reviews. Finally the real non biased, non nostalgique, down to earth reviews are coming out.
Zelda is a good game, but not a perfect game. For me it' s a 8/9.

goldwyncq2613d ago

So it's only honest and nonbiased if it's a negative review?

That's confirmation bias.

-Foxtrot2613d ago

goldwyncq

I don't think he means all of the good reviews are biased but if the first review or three of the game were 6/10 or 7/10 for example I think more people would have been a little more honest...not the "perfect" reviews we've seen for a game which has it's share of problems largely ignored by them

Pennywise1382613d ago

Shenanigans! Most of those early reviews all dropped at the same time after the embargo was lifted. Are you saying they all colluded behind the scenes to give it 10s and 9s out of the gate? Do you also realize how many clicks this no name site is getting because of this score?

And for you conspiracy theorist that think Nintendo paid off reviewers for high Zelda scores, which is also just stupid in its own right, why wouldn't Nintendo also pay for higher switch console reviews? Switch reviews are not all that great. Where's the conspiracy there?

DrierofLeaves2613d ago

'It's only an honest review if it scores it low!'

BG115792613d ago

It's only honest reviews because it does not dismiss problems they found. When reviewers say that they has heavy framedrops, don't like the new breaking system for weapons and dismiss all the problems to say hey it's a Zelda game let's give it a perfect score, than yes, it's diased. It has nothing to do with giving a low score or not.
The game is really great, but it's definitely not perfect.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the anti-Breath of the Wild

Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."

Ocarina of Time changed my life forever, such a masterpiece

Zeldafan64139d ago

Hard to believe it's 25 years old already.

Cacabunga139d ago

The feeling this game gave me the first time i had my hands on it is indescribable.. i still get the chill from that day..
botw is like a spin off of the series.. it’s fun but with many flaws and the most important which is Zelda formula isn’t there..

FinalFantasyFanatic138d ago

I can't even remember how many times I played through OoT, I finished that game, and collected everything so many times.

Vits139d ago

I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.

gold_drake138d ago

but still considered the best of the seties.

i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.

Nintendo not thinking about older Zelda games, "difficult to say" if classic style will return

The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has again commented on the possibility of revisiting the style of past entries in the series – but there are no plans as of now. Speaking with RTL Nieuws, Aonuma said that games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were possible because of what came before them.

Which is very sad. I still wish we could get a zelda like twilight princess, the dark tone and theme in the traditional style. But times have changed and the masses prefer open world sandbox. Smh. Perhaps we can get a proper hd remake of ocarina of time some day.

CDbiggen278d ago

I played 100 hours of Tears of the Kingdom, enjoyed it, but ready for a game like that next.

kythlyn312d ago

If they can bounce between 2D and 3D Mario games, they can bounce between classic and modern Zelda games too. I thought this was a given when the Switch combined a handheld with a primary console.

Inverno312d ago

Then this is where I part ways. I won't disagree with anyone who says that the old formula was getting stale. And I do think BoTW in a few ways was a step in the right direction, but there's way too much good that was left with the old formula in the transition.

CrimsonWing69312d ago

I want it to. I’m sorry, but these new Zelda games I just can’t get into.

Duke19312d ago

Well that sucks. I still love the classic formula WAY more than the Hyrule Engineering Simulator
