It's a hardware hog, but what can you expect? It's not like Vista can automatically be XP on launch day. Hell even XP wasn't well-received its first year and people moaned about Win 2k being the better OS. I still use XP but only because my apps work better on XP, nothing more. And the fact that XP startup loads faster. I have faith in Microsoft primarily because Microsoft solely lead the OS market and launched us into the digital age we enjoy now. Perhaps I'm giving Microsoft too much credit mb?

I know on my next build I'll have all the latest quirks a PC can offer.

Quad-core/Octo-Core CPU, DDR3 4GB RAM, SSD SLC 250GB, 650W PSU, and a graphics card worthy of Crysis. I'm thinking AMD on my next build. A quad-core for $130 is a steal!

To a Quad-core CPU, 3~4 GB of memory, and a $300 graphics card. Operating Systems have one purpose, which is to manage your applications and memory resources, not eat up all your resources before the apps can even get to them.

Upgrading to XP is the biggest PC repair service in the nation right now.

I love Vista, granted I have a pretty strong machine, but I have no problems with the GUI at all.

Vista is the perfect example of why monopolies are bad for customers. If people and companies were not forced into Vista (due to monopoly), it wouldn't sell like it is and the company would be forced to offer a better product.

Instead they just patch it and the customers have to put up with it for years until they release a new one that people will still be forced into if monopoly persists. There are alternatives but like all good monopolies, widespread adoption of an alternative is discouraged by all means available.

The reversal of the anti-trust ruling against MS in the US was a huge mistake and people will pay the price for years.

Vista is being patched every now and then, right now theres a Windows Update with fixes to most of the stuff on my computer. Vista really isn't as bad as most of you guys think or have heard, anyways I would always suggest you never buy an OS until the first service pack came out.
