Nintendo Switch feels like a rushed out console

Regardless of proving itself as a great handheld gaming device, Nintendo Switch feels like a rushed out console

The way the wiiu flopped so hard, the switch was obviously rushed out as a result

MVGeneral2622d ago (Edited 2622d ago )

Yeah but instead of fixing problems, they just made a whole lot more.
Slowly more people will lose their trust in the company, as so many already have. And it's just bad rapport, you don't want people associating nintendo with negative stuff.
Here's Nintendo's rapport after the launch of the wii (they are now known for this based on their last 3 consoles wii/wiiu/switch):
Weak consoles
Weak performance
overpriced
gimmicky
For kids and grandma's
no third party support
horrible multiplayer/online
Friend codes
not enough hard drive space
No long term support
Can't recognize criticism
Unwilling to change
Not for the core gamer
No carry over online profiles

And adding unreliable hardware and Nintendo can't admit fault. Isn't going to help them get out of last place.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2622d ago (Edited 2622d ago )

@MVGeneral
-Weak consoles - opinion
-Weak performance - current firmware drains the GPU
-overpriced - not really
-gimmicky - no gimmick if you think being able to take your gaming with you everywhere then everything is a gimmick on every game system
-For kids and grandma's - yet there are way more people in their 20-40 buying the system - go look at midnight launches
-no third party support - right around 80 Indies games and 50 third party games already announced and we still haven't seen games from From Software, other Capcom, Sega, KOEI Tecmo and Namco games, Level-5, Platinum Games, Marvelous AQL and Arc System Works haven't revealed their games yet.
-horrible multiplayer/online - from those who experienced it through Bomberman and Fast RMX is solid
Friend codes - There three ways to add friends and more will come in Summer
not enough hard drive space - Physical games don't install. So only DLC, Patches, Demos, Save Data and Digital Only games will take up space.
-No long term support - Another lie. Clearly you didn't look at the release window.
Zelda - March
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - April
ARMS - May
Splatoon 2 - Summer
Fire Emblem Warriors - Fall
Super Mario Odyssey - Holiday
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - 2017 - Possibly Nov-January
Fire Emblem 2018
Pokemon, Pikmin 4, Super Smash Bros. for Switch and the fact that Reggie hints at Metroid and Animal Crossing.
-Can't recognize criticism -really.....yet they are looking into the dock, switch and left joycon issues.
-Unwilling to change - please be specific
-Not for the core gamer - core gamer? okay.......
-No carry over online profiles - Uh yes it can. When you can either create a Nintendo Account and link it with a Nintendo Network account.

Clearly you don't own or even know what Switch has, does or capable of.

Critic4l_Strik32622d ago

you are one of those that will be ok with whatever bones Nintendo throws at you right?

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2622d ago (Edited 2622d ago )

@Critic4l_Strik3
Nope. I didn't fall for the Amiibo or Mobile stuff. Played a hour of Fire Emblem Heroes and quit.
Have no interest in Pokemon GO! or Super Mario Run.

Only owns 5 Amiibo. Mario, Samus, Marth, Link and Wolf Link. Only plan to get Bayonetta whenever that one releases.

I don't plan to get 1 2 Switch when I get my Switch in May nor do I buy every game they released.
Just that I am a RETRO gamer.

I didn't start gaming on Xbox, PS2 or PS3 or X360 like majority of today gamers did

Avalanche2622d ago

cool year for titles.....the ps4 just had like 19games come out in the past month.

You listed like 10games.... so that make the library jump to 15.....for the year....

And don't ever bring up "Indie games" Sony and MS bring out hundreds a year and nobody cares....this isn't 2009

badz1492622d ago

"weak consoles - opinion"

LOL sheer numbers is opinion now? so...PS4 selling almost 60mil console by now is opinion too?

never go full retard!

Knushwood Butt2622d ago

You've spent more time trying to defend Nintendo than you have playing the Switch.

MagicBeanz2622d ago

I get the need to defend your system I really do, its tough when people point out the myriad of flaws in something you just spent a significant, some could argue too much, money on. So I understand your defense of it, but as far as it being an opinion that the console is weak, comparably speaking to current console technology and to whats just around the corner, its a verifiable fact that Switch is weak by comparison and there are plenty of articles that prove that. Just sayin.

DarkZane2622d ago (Edited 2622d ago )

@OtakuDJK1NG-Rory

-Weak consoles - opinion ... Not an opinion, it's actually very weak.
-overpriced - not really ... except it is seriously overpriced and not worth what they charge for it.

I don't care if it's portable, 300$ is way too much. At the moment, only Nintendo fanboys will buy it, just like the 3DS. The 3DS at launch barely sold past the initial batch because 250$ they were asking for it was too much.

Nintendo has a strong launch, but they're only comparing it to previous Nintendo consoles. PS4 and Xbox One launches were better. Plus it doesn't matter how strong their launch is since they will not be able to keep it up.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory, you're definitely the kind of guy who would do anything Nintendo tells you to without question. If they told you to jump, you'd ask how high like a drone and if they asked you to suck on their ****, you'd do it with a smile.

corroios2622d ago

Weak hardware opinion? Dont need to read more. Total blind gamers.

Cant handle the reality. Even at 249 it would be overprice for a 720p portable

gbsrnctaln2622d ago

"Nope, I didnt fall for the Amiibo stuff...." Owns 5 Amiibos lol

MVGeneral2622d ago

This guy, @OtakuDJK1NG-Rory
"-Weak consoles - opinion
-Weak performance - current firmware drains the GPU
-overpriced - not really "

Lmao 😂, Weak console is not an opinion. And weak performance can't be fixed all that well with a firmware update. Overpriced? Obviously it is compared to the competition. Only the die hard nintendo fans will buy it. Grandma's and kids, launch line ups don't count because the only people that will line up is fans. After that dries out gramps and kids.
No long term support is for the wiiu. The guys that bought it get the shirt end of the stick.

2622d ago
OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2622d ago

gotta love dem disagrees.
Love how yall stop at the first 3 and hit the disagree immediately.

Smokingunz2621d ago

Excellent and true comment, thumbs up to u I couldn't have said it better.

ChickeyCantor2621d ago

> the ps4 just had like 19games come out in the past month.

Oh lord, the fallacy.

zaherdab2621d ago (Edited 2621d ago )

the way u're trying to defend nintendo sounds like you know their long term plans! the fact is nintendo failed with WII U they abandoned the WII U owners and created another underpowered console that will force 3rd party developers to either develop just for the switch or ditch them.

Untill they sell enough units there's very little reason to support them based on their history...

The Switch Is basically the gay console, It's a home console and a portable In one. Right now It's facing some serious Identity crisis. It all sounds good and looks great but It will never be able to fit In.

Sunny_D2622d ago

So it's faaaaaaaabulous?

Smokingunz2621d ago

U call a system selling out of its stop completely in 24 hours and people waiting in line days,Weeks and the greatest game this gen by the name of zelda prior to launch a system that can't fit in? Ok.play it before u talk.

FallenAngel19842623d ago

Nah really? It only "feels" rushed?

utosser2623d ago

total rushed out they went the cheap making the most cheapest lcd screen you could find.
should had a good release of games on the release date.
which it never did.

at this time people will only support if if they bring out a lot of well know games on it

MVGeneral2622d ago (Edited 2622d ago )

Even after the many blunders of nintendo the only thing keeping them afloat is their rep from the nes/snes/n64 days. They made such a good reputation that people still associate their childhoods with them and will forgive them for things that other companies would be grounded for.

But still if you look at nintendo now from a unbiased perspective they are a backwards company in a market they somehow know nothing about. The guys that buy games are the core gamers. Casual and mainstream gamers buy 1-3 titles (my grandparents and 3 of my uncles/aunts had wii and they had a combined 9 games between 4 households) for the entire span of the console. My ps4 has already 15 titles and I consider myself playing less because of my demanding full time job and family. So if games don't sell 3rd party developers will be hesitant to make games so the core gamers will, as a result, not buy the system.
When will nintendo learn.

Chug2622d ago

Spot on. Why can't they just make a semi powerful console without the gimmicks and give us Mario, Metroid, Zelda, SOME NEW IP'S, and have 3rd party support?

Realplaya2622d ago

The screen on the switch is perfectly fine. You don't own one so it's only natural you talk out of your behind. Plus you fail to associate cost as if what you recommend doesn't bump up the pricing.

rainslacker2621d ago

I think Nintendo is chasing after markets other than the hardcore gaming groups. They arent' worried so much about their fans buying the system, because fans tend to be reliable. But Nintendo, even if they made a proper console, would have a hard time competing in the market that Sony and MS are in. Nintendo used to be in that market against Sega, then they got pushed aside, mostly due to their own bad decisions. It was Nintendos success before that, as well as proper management when it comes to money that allowed them to survive to continue making consoles, as opposed to Sega, who's mismanagement forced them to leave the hardware race.

Anyhow, it makes sense that Nintendo would pursue these other markets from a business perspective. Their hardware is released to start making a profit day one. The games they publish actually do make them money. Because of this, Nintendo doesn't need to command a lions share of the gaming market to actually survive in the hardware market. But at the same time, they know that there is a lucrative gaming market that isn't being served as well by MS and Nintendo, and they want to capture that market. They did this with the Wii...albeit I don't think that was their initial intent, but the WiiU and now the Switch seem to be desperately trying to regain that market. However, I don't think Nintendo has learned that you can't actually rely on those markets for the long term, because they're fickle, and tend to move more by trends than actual desire to be engaged in a platform on the same level more hardcore gamers would be.

I don't know if they'll get something going again, because I feel they're going for a different market now. But the people saying they just want Nintendo to release a "proper console" don't seem to realize that would probably be terrible for Nintendo financially.

The step up lcd will undoubtedly be available on the Switch Plus model... Woot.

OMGitzThatGuy2622d ago (Edited 2622d ago )

I just pray that it fails. Not because I hate Nintendo but maybe if they get back to back failures they will stop trying to be gimmicky. Sony and Microsoft sell consoles to sell games yet Nintendo goes too far on trying to make the console outshine the games. They are the only one that can get away with it because they have games that make people put up with their bullshit. The Switch is NOT worth $300 and them overpricing things such as the dock when it is just a type c to HDMI adapter and a USB port for $90 and then went out of the way to make it not work with any other adapters. Controllers that cost $80 dollars is just ridiculous. They need to get all of those ancient executives out of power and replace them with people who are with the times. Not everyone will buy a under-powered console to play Mario for $300, it either will get a price cut soon or Switch 2 will be out in 3 years. And it's obvious that Nintendo provides a limited number of consoles on Day 1 to drive up the hype and demand so it someone sees one they will buy it on impulse.

Smokingunz2621d ago

All companies release their consoles in limited supply on launch on purpose.

BigTrain2621d ago (Edited 2621d ago )

I hate to say it but I actually agree, I want them to fail. Ive owned every console and mostly every handheld they've released. I've drawn the line at the Switch. I wanted it to be awesome and when they revealed it I wasn't impressed at all. Another Nintendo system with no power is how I saw it. Nintendo makes some of the greatest games within the industry but why they'd limit themselves with weak console power, one of the biggest complaints gamers have against their last 2 systems, at this stage in the game is beyond me. There was an Unreal engine based Mario demo that was released. I played it on PC and was amazed at how that simple demo gave a glimpse of what Mario would look like in real HD with lighting effects. I would think Nintendo would be inspired by that but they're clearly not. At some point their corporate office has taken more control and the creative side when it comes to hardware creation at least seems to have no say so. They want extreme day one profit. Hence the overpriced.........everything! Not cool Nintendo. The industry needs Nintendo to fail. They can afford to learn a lesson. Their fan base needs to pay attention to wiser gamers and realize that this system failing will help in the end. They can regroup and come correct, especially on a hardware level. I would of purchased a Switch if it at least had Xbox One power, but it didnt, it's a revamped updated WiiU. Digital Foundrys comparison vids show that clearly. Supporting Nintendo right now is bad for the future of gaming. It shows that emotional fans are willing to take anything they throw out as long as Mario and Zelda are tied to it.

Lone_Man2623d ago (Edited 2623d ago )

Do not use Switch Near:

Behind a TV
Near an aquarium
Placed in or under a metal object
Pressed against lots of wires and cords
Within three to four feet of another wireless device, such as a wireless speaker or a wireless access point.
Laptops, tablets, etc.
Wireless headsets
Wireless printers
Microwaves
Wireless speakers
Cordless phones
USB 3.0-compatible devices such as hard drives, thumb drives, LAN adapters, etc.

WTFFFFFFFF. At least we can use it the bathroom. Can we?

mad-dog2623d ago

As long as you don't fill the tub and have wifi in the Bathroom.

MVGeneral2622d ago (Edited 2622d ago )

Also they just added this:
"do not use Nintendo switch near other consoles, as you may realize something we don't want you to realize"

MyDietEqualsGames2622d ago

Watch out, Cerny is in the tub.

badz1492622d ago

and remember...dead pixels are totally normal even for your shiny new Switch

Knushwood Butt2622d ago

I remember the days of the DS when there was an extremely high chance of getting a unit with dead pixels.

Sad to see that Nintendo's quality control has not improved, but doesn't surprise me.

blackblades2622d ago

@MVGeneral Don't use near other consoles wow sounds like you gotta play in a empty room then.

Sirk7x2622d ago

I am using mine right now near most of those things. Haven't had any problems yet. I understand that hardware failure is a possibility, with the chance being much higher with any launch hardware. Hopefully Nintendo will take care of anyone having issues. If not, that's what your Attorney General and class action lawsuits are for. Microsoft had to learn the hard way.

zelda runs perfectly on the wii u and I've never had any technical issues with this system for any game. I suggest people sell the switch at the high price they go for online and buy a wii u. Enjoy that for as long as it takes nintendo to fix the switch, which will probably be never.

_-EDMIX-_2622d ago

Well to be fair because it was specifically designed to run on that system I would assume it would perform the best on there.

MVGeneral2622d ago

Actually it should run better on a better spec'd out console. Like if you play a computer game on a crap pyramid computer vs a new and better one. It shouldn't have so much framers issues when there are a little bit more action on the screen.

Chug2622d ago

Just think of how long ago they could've released the damn game for the Wii U and instead they sat on it just to release a port on their new console that won't be supported. I have every right to be pissed, I bought a Wii U in hopes to play Zelda but at this point I refuse to buy it out of principle.

MVGeneral2622d ago

They pulled wiiu's off the shelves. They aren't supporting that system. They buried it already. Anything thing I don't like about nintendo. The ps3 is still getting updates and downloads and free games for psplus

2622d ago
MyDietEqualsGames2622d ago

Sony shits on the competition when it comes to long term support. I can say this honestly on this site and if i do get disagrees, then, they are stuck in a bubble of their own and not recognize facts.

Hi Mvgeneric. I have this girlfriend named Nintardo. She never puts out, and she's never home. But I keep going back to her even though she's not into me. I'm so depressed but I can't imagine my life without her, we have had such good times in the past. On the other hand, there's this other girl, her name is Sonya. She's prettier, and she actually has a personality and seems to treat me right even though I don't have to ask for it. She always has surprises throughout the year (every year) that makes me wish I was with her instead. What oh what shall I do?

@InTheZoneAC

If you think dipping to 20 frames for extended periods of time is running perfectly on the WIiU, then you have low standards.

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

InTheZoneAC2621d ago

I don't have low standards. It runs the same as compared to the switch but with less glitching. I do notice the stuttering frame rate, that is one of my first complaints. I'm simply comparing to the switch, settle down

rainslacker2621d ago

I've been playing it on the WiiU. Borrowed mine back from my cousins kid since I gave it to him. Told him he could have the game when I'm done.:)

Played it on my friends Switch also, and could see the technical problems that existed, but overall, the game is pretty good.

"When Three Houses was announced for the Nintendo Switch, I was more hyped for this than almost any game currently available on the platform. While its story doesn’t quite live up to the previous entries I’ve enjoyed, mostly due to some poorly handled reveals and its failure to offer us up a compelling villain, Three Houses succeeds greatly due to its vast replayability with new game plus, and yet another memorable cast to add to the franchise.
