Slowly more people will lose their trust in the company, as so many already have. And it's just bad rapport, you don't want people associating nintendo with negative stuff.

Have no interest in Pokemon GO! or Super Mario Run.

Only owns 5 Amiibo. Mario, Samus, Marth, Link and Wolf Link. Only plan to get Bayonetta whenever that one releases.

I don't plan to get 1 2 Switch when I get my Switch in May nor do I buy every game they released.
Just that I am a RETRO gamer.

I don't care if it's portable, 300$ is way too much. At the moment, only Nintendo fanboys will buy it, just like the 3DS. The 3DS at launch barely sold past the initial batch because 250$ they were asking for it was too much.

Nintendo has a strong launch, but they're only comparing it to previous Nintendo consoles. PS4 and Xbox One launches were better. Plus it doesn't matter how strong their launch is since they will not be able to keep it up.

Lmao 😂, Weak console is not an opinion. And weak performance can't be fixed all that well with a firmware update. Overpriced? Obviously it is compared to the competition. Only the die hard nintendo fans will buy it. Grandma's and kids, launch line ups don't count because the only people that will line up is fans. After that dries out gramps and kids.

Even after the many blunders of nintendo the only thing keeping them afloat is their rep from the nes/snes/n64 days. They made such a good reputation that people still associate their childhoods with them and will forgive them for things that other companies would be grounded for.

But still if you look at nintendo now from a unbiased perspective they are a backwards company in a market they somehow know nothing about. The guys that buy games are the core gamers. Casual and mainstream gamers buy 1-3 titles (my grandparents and 3 of my uncles/aunts had wii and they had a combined 9 games between 4 households) for the entire span of the console. My ps4 has already 15 titles and I consider myself playing less because of my demanding full time job and family. So if games don't sell 3rd party developers will be hesitant to make games so the core gamers will, as a result, not buy the system.
When will nintendo learn.

I think Nintendo is chasing after markets other than the hardcore gaming groups. They arent' worried so much about their fans buying the system, because fans tend to be reliable. But Nintendo, even if they made a proper console, would have a hard time competing in the market that Sony and MS are in. Nintendo used to be in that market against Sega, then they got pushed aside, mostly due to their own bad decisions. It was Nintendos success before that, as well as proper management when it comes to money that allowed them to survive to continue making consoles, as opposed to Sega, who's mismanagement forced them to leave the hardware race.

Anyhow, it makes sense that Nintendo would pursue these other markets from a business perspective. Their hardware is released to start making a profit day one. The games they publish actually do make them money. Because of this, Nintendo doesn't need to command a lions share of the gaming market to actually survive in the hardware market. But at the same time, they know that there is a lucrative gaming market that isn't being served as well by MS and Nintendo, and they want to capture that market. They did this with the Wii...albeit I don't think that was their initial intent, but the WiiU and now the Switch seem to be desperately trying to regain that market. However, I don't think Nintendo has learned that you can't actually rely on those markets for the long term, because they're fickle, and tend to move more by trends than actual desire to be engaged in a platform on the same level more hardcore gamers would be.

I don't know if they'll get something going again, because I feel they're going for a different market now. But the people saying they just want Nintendo to release a "proper console" don't seem to realize that would probably be terrible for Nintendo financially.

I just pray that it fails. Not because I hate Nintendo but maybe if they get back to back failures they will stop trying to be gimmicky. Sony and Microsoft sell consoles to sell games yet Nintendo goes too far on trying to make the console outshine the games. They are the only one that can get away with it because they have games that make people put up with their bullshit. The Switch is NOT worth $300 and them overpricing things such as the dock when it is just a type c to HDMI adapter and a USB port for $90 and then went out of the way to make it not work with any other adapters. Controllers that cost $80 dollars is just ridiculous. They need to get all of those ancient executives out of power and replace them with people who are with the times. Not everyone will buy a under-powered console to play Mario for $300, it either will get a price cut soon or Switch 2 will be out in 3 years. And it's obvious that Nintendo provides a limited number of consoles on Day 1 to drive up the hype and demand so it someone sees one they will buy it on impulse.

I hate to say it but I actually agree, I want them to fail. Ive owned every console and mostly every handheld they've released. I've drawn the line at the Switch. I wanted it to be awesome and when they revealed it I wasn't impressed at all. Another Nintendo system with no power is how I saw it. Nintendo makes some of the greatest games within the industry but why they'd limit themselves with weak console power, one of the biggest complaints gamers have against their last 2 systems, at this stage in the game is beyond me. There was an Unreal engine based Mario demo that was released. I played it on PC and was amazed at how that simple demo gave a glimpse of what Mario would look like in real HD with lighting effects. I would think Nintendo would be inspired by that but they're clearly not. At some point their corporate office has taken more control and the creative side when it comes to hardware creation at least seems to have no say so. They want extreme day one profit. Hence the overpriced.........everything! Not cool Nintendo. The industry needs Nintendo to fail. They can afford to learn a lesson. Their fan base needs to pay attention to wiser gamers and realize that this system failing will help in the end. They can regroup and come correct, especially on a hardware level. I would of purchased a Switch if it at least had Xbox One power, but it didnt, it's a revamped updated WiiU. Digital Foundrys comparison vids show that clearly. Supporting Nintendo right now is bad for the future of gaming. It shows that emotional fans are willing to take anything they throw out as long as Mario and Zelda are tied to it.

I am using mine right now near most of those things. Haven't had any problems yet. I understand that hardware failure is a possibility, with the chance being much higher with any launch hardware. Hopefully Nintendo will take care of anyone having issues. If not, that's what your Attorney General and class action lawsuits are for. Microsoft had to learn the hard way.

zelda runs perfectly on the wii u and I've never had any technical issues with this system for any game. I suggest people sell the switch at the high price they go for online and buy a wii u. Enjoy that for as long as it takes nintendo to fix the switch, which will probably be never.

Played it on my friends Switch also, and could see the technical problems that existed, but overall, the game is pretty good.

i look at it this way, the people who LOVEEEEEEE Nintendo bought it or intend on buying it no matter what, which means the console sales could be very front heavy, and I'm not talking Wii front heavy(That was a fluke that hit an untapped market). which means it is VERY likely the system will fizzle out before the great games come out for it.

The thing it does have going for it though is that nintendo charm where u know you will get a great zelda,mario, kart, smash, and other first party support that can get some sale surges.

If Nintendo was "smart" or actually used forward thinking or even hired a person who thought like me they would have done the following.

Announce the Switch, give people a year to get hyped up but more importantly give developers the tools they need to create good games in time for launch, the switch really makes me wonder if they gave developers the dev kits 2months ago because the release schedule is so bare.

if you launched with what i just typed....its gonna have legs, and it will give a big middle finger to those publishers(EA, Activision, Ubi) for not trusting the company this time around.

Not only will those companies start making their Triple A multiplatform titles for the switch, but it forces them to make new IPs specifically for the Switch owner.

so now you have a good system with good 3rd party support, and you have an amazing console/software attach rate for YEARS. can you imagine if Nintendo made those sports games with there core group of designers instead of handing it off to the C Team of the company....$60 a pop for a game that will sell for 3years before you need to make a sequel.

It does seem to have alot of hardware issues at launch. I understand that it's unavoidable and every console/handheld that releases will have problems, but the issues the switch seem to have has alot more than other consoles which is unfortunate. This is what happens when it's rushed out along with very little app support and a lack of launch games.

Before anyone jumps on me, let me explain about the launch. The reason why I say it is lacking launch games is because Nintendo has said themselves that they would have a strong launch line-up. It also seem believable because there were hardly any good games for the 2015 and 2016 on WiiU so alot of us assumed they were saving the bigger
budget titles for the switch and make smaller budget games on the WiiU. But that does not seem to be the case here. Yes you can say that the Ps4 and Xbox one had weak line-up too, but they had backup from major 3rd party support. I'm not seeing much major 3rd party support here at all.

Where are the titles? Are they saving them for e3? And what if they don't show them at e3, then what? I dunno, it just seems they rushed it out in general for the switch. I get the WiiU was a financial failure but still, at least make the Switch has the basic features before releasing. I think they should've wait til releasing it in the fall.

It's not rushed but it does have some teething issues, which all consoles have in one form or another, look at the Xbox one for example, when it was first released with some features not present and the difficulties in getting the best out of the hardware.

For me, this is the most exciting console of the generation, how boring would it have been if it had just been a PS4 or Xbox one clone, why would anyone bother buying one if that was the case.

Those Xbox issues didn't result in a damaged system though or nonworking system though.

No one is really discussing the fact that the Switch is barren of features, they're discussing the actual flaws that it has, one of which is pretty serious and requires a supplimental purchase to keep from happening(Dock/screen scratching). The joycon connection thing may be less ubiquitous, but the design of the system itself means it likely will cause a lot of problems to a lot of users. Some may not use their system in a way that would cause that to happen though, and since the problem can be intermittent, some people may not even notice it. The dead pixel thing is hard to determine, because we don't know the extent of consoles which have that problem. However, Nintendo has already said it's not a defect. So that's the real problem there. While I accept that there are going to be dead pixels sometimes on any mass produced LCD/LED type display, Nintendo disavowing any responsibility of it is just wrong.

These aren't really teething issues waiting for features to come. These are actual design flaws which will affect the end user experience. These aren't things which will get better over time, as the addition of Netflix won't solve a scratched scree, a dead pixel, nor a spotty joycon connection.

The premise of the console is exciting. That doesn't mean what they released is actually something people should jump on. I'm willing to accept that every new console may need revisions as mass release can show more flaws than even extensive testing does, but I find it hard to believe nintendo wouldn't know about a couple of these issues through their testing. The first revision of this console, even if just internal, will probably show vast improvements over the launch console, and the last console that had that kind of improvement was the 360. So, the 360 is more comparable, and no one, even most Xbox fans, would say that that was something that was worth acting like it was some sort of teething problem.....unless Nintendo does right by their customers, in which case you can look forward to a bunch of shipping boxes being sent your way.

What has happened to Nintendo? They used to be masters of quality control. If something came to market you knew the hardware was at least going to be solid. Seems rushed.
I love Nintendo. Always will. I'm a consumer. I've owned every console and handheld they have released. I'm allowed to be critical of something I actually paid for. So many people give hate for being critical. No. As a paying consumer it's our right to demand better if something's not up to par.
My wiiu is collecting dust since windwaker hd. Twilight princess hd looked and played TERRIBLE on it. The switch already seems like it's going down the same path. I hope I'm wrong. But as things are I'm guessing a recall is coming for the dock and left joycon at least. Dead pixels ARE your problem Nintendo.
