Nintendo makes a sequel to Splatoon 2 with a new campaign and modes to come, people are upset and say they should've just remade Splatoon 1.

I think the desire is for them to make full-blown sequels that feel like actual sequels, meaning some real new ideas, not just more guns, maps, etc. That's hard to do, of course, but why wouldn't you want that?

From what I've gotten out of people who actually played it at the preview events, it is a full-blown sequel and saying otherwise shows ignorance. But the raging Nintendo haters/Sony fanboys can never be happy and will find a way to cry about everything. If Nintendo solved the world hunger crisis and ended all wars they would still find one small insignificant thing to attach to and cry about.

Sounds like COD, yet that seems to get a free pass (and that's a yearly franchise). I'm still waiting for Splatoon details myself.

Hopefully the story is a lot better and more in depth than the first one, am very glad for local vs though. First splatoons local multiplayer was pretty terrible.

The problem with splatoon 2 is that Nintendo has the audacity to call it a sequel, when really it's just splatoon deluxe.

Its clear that Nintendo are flooding the switch with wiiu ports and we're too embarrassed to call splatoon 2 what it is- deluxe, so try to pass it off as a sequel.

Well they made it a sequel because they can't launch a new system and show off "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" and then "Splatoon: Deluxe Edition" can they

That would have gotten people talking and not in the good way. So Nintendo compromised and thought they could get away with Splatoon being a sequel over Mario Kart as we usually see more of a "jump" in features with Mario Kart. They knew they couldn't get away with it unlike Splatoon which is the first sequel to the game and we have nothing to compare that game with unlike Mario Kart.

No they can't but they bank balance says otherwise. People hear what they wanna want and jump on the bandwagons all the time they just love to hate being different. Love Nintendo amongst others but I don't want a 3rd Netflix gaming box that does exactly the same as all the rest. Mario Kart was a great decision tho shame it wasn't nailed for launch it really is a fantastic game and new bits and extra sound pretty cool. I never really got that into Splatoon tho to be honest it's pretty cool bit like paint mode from Tony Hawks I think it was just the fact they didn't allow voice chat 😩 I mean come on a team based game and can't even chit chat, surely that can be a great thing sometimes but at least allow it to be an option.

How do you release DLC for a console that doesn't have the base game? Why isn't the yearly installments of call of duty or every damn sports game DLC? Call of duty does nothing but reskin and sometimes straight up regurgitate old assets, sports games are essentially a roster update and possibly a new UI with *maybe* a single new feature that typically gets gutted *coughqbvisioncough* the following year. This is a stupid headline posing an even stupider question.

There's not always a reskin. Besides, most of the reskins are in a similar style anyway, the only thing that seems to change is the theme.

They then go on to say that a sequel isn't justified? They literally just said it feels like how a sequel should feel and what you'd expect. Then they rail on motion controls, which most hardcore Splatoon players prefer. I personally don't like them, but they can be turned off in the full game, just like in the first game.

Personally, as long as they've got some unrevealed modes and a fun single-player mode, I'm all for more Splatoon.

Just looking at the reveal trailer, the only thing that seemed new was the dual pistols the maps, the weapons, the characters, etc., all look exactly the same.

I disagree. There's amazing games in the Nintendo library. Could use some games akin to what you'd find elsewhere as well but I've had some great experiences with Nintendo games.

Not something I'll be rushing out to get and I've got the console to play it just also still got Wii U version and it's barely been used except for a few matches barely a couple of hours. I'll make do with that one until few months later get 2 on the cheap me thinks... I'll be busy with Mario Kart for months anyway. Stilll finishing 3 stars on wii U bloody backlogs. Always got time for the greats tho... and some not so greats, thankfully mafia 3 nearly done, well what I'm willing to play. Game On!

The same could be asked about every Sports game ever - FIFA, MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL etc. are more or less only Team updates with slight changes, yet tens of millions buy those games every year.

I agree. Sports games shouldn't be yearly because generally they're functionally very similar. Simple updates would change the teams for each season and could release a new one every 2 or 3 years. We know that won't happen though because the money they get is huge.

It took me all of a few seconds to google about Splatoon 2's single player campaign, apparently it's going to be set 2 years after the 1st game's SP story, seems likely that Nintendo are holding back any information about that part of the game until they're ready to show more.

This section of the sequel, along with newer MP maps will likely reveal more of a sequel feel to this game.
Nintendo didn't take long to develop the 1st game, seems they've had plenty of time to make a proper sequel to that entry in the series.

The shooting mechanics are surprisingly solid and deep. It's an excellent online third person shooter, and designed to be competitive.

my 4 year old daughter was pretty good at it , I think she came first in a fair few matches. The first one obviously btw not the deluxe version coming to switch.
