Yeah true, but according to NX Gamer, i think its got 30% less frame pacing and most of the frame dips are eradicated. So a improvement none the less.

You can solo Bloodborne including the Old Hunters DLC although it is definitely advisable to level up appropriately.

As for the Dark Souls series, I got all the way to Anor Londo (Dark Souls 1) at level 15 but when I played DS2 I found that leveling up was (in my case) essential. Haven't played DS3 yet but will at some time.

Currently playing The Witcher 3 on "Death March" with the two DLC's (71GB) and having a blast. Nothing like going to what you think is a relatively safe area and find level 70+ creatures when you are only at level eight. 😉

I wonder if this will address the ps4 turning off, but not turning off.

I played the other night, properly turned it off, and went to bed only to find it still it flashing a white light. Anyone have this issue? I just did a hard reset and it's working fine now.

Mine started doing the same thing the other night. It then beeped 3 times and turned itself off. I know on the PS3 when it beeped 3 times it was dumping the RAM (in English, forgetting everything and starting over), with the 4 I have a couple of theories but nothing concrete.

I'm also on the Pro with a 1 tb Samsung SSD, so not sure if that makes any difference. A few things I did also notice the same day:

I was booted out of chat due to a PSN error (however was still playing Warframe no problems)
Some slowdown with the PSN store in certain areas
Pro controllers had some noticeable input lag, but nothing game changing

Next day, everything ran normal, so not sure if it was just PSN acting up or something else going on.

I've also been having problems with my Pro. Sometimes the system will just go to a black screen for no reason for a few seconds and then cut back in. The main problem though from day one has been the system when starting or stopping a game or application will sometimes cause the screen to go black and start to flicker at the edges. Turning the system off then back on helps sometimes, but most times I would have to turn the system off and on several times before the image is back on the screen.

It seems as though when that happens the HDR signal is not being recieved, I say this because any time the problem happens I dont get the HDR symbol at the top of the screen of my LG 49" model 49UHD6500. When it is working correctly, at the start of a game the HDR symbol will show.

I know the rest of the system is working cause I can hear the system sounds when using the controller or still hear the game music. Very rarely instead of a black flickering screen I will have a white flickering screen. Also when using PS Vue, Netflix, Hulu or even Youtube i will also have flickering, especially in the lower left hand corner. There will be a rectangle type of flickering going on and then stop as suddenly as it started, but the image will still be on the screen.

Also I've noticed while playing Final FantasyXV that while in the car the image of the speedometer will shimmer as if more than one image is being displayed. This same thing has been happening in Horizon also in the top right at the level progression, but only when I'm on one of the robots riding.

I've already called Sony and they've sent me a box to return the console to them, but I couldn't wait to play Horizon so I will ship it to them after I finish the game.

I have the same problem with losing the HDR signal and the screen going black then coming back. Can happen quite often at times.

It's probably a handshaking issue with HDR copy protection. I have the same LG model you do except the 65" version.

Unfortunately, doing any search tends to only return stuff about the initial problems with LG TV's not supporting the HDR.

More unfortunately, most of the fixes don't seem to work across the board, so it's kind of a crap shoot.

So far, just using a different HDMI cable is working, but I haven't played it much since making that change. Some other solutions were to force the different YUV settings, changing the input on the TV itself, although that shouldn't matter since all three HDMI inputs support HDR on our TV's.

There are a few threads on the PS forums about it which give possible solutions, but mostly just people complaining. Hopefully this fix will solve that issue. Most seem to agree it's an issue with PS4 and not the TV since it can happen with other TV makes. Also doesn't seem to be a wide spread problem, because despite having quite a few people with the problem, there are relatively few people complaining about it. Maybe just luck of the draw.

Thanks for the response. I was wondering if it was an effect of the early problem with HDR and many UHD tvs, but since the tv now is working in full HDR I figured that maybe the system was dropped in transit to GameStop or while in the store.

I've already switched out the HDMI plugs many times and still the problem arises. While on the phone with Sony after buying the PRO they also said to try switching the HDMI plugs which helped initially, but its still happens. Other people have suggested that I buy Monster HDMI cables but I'm not sure if that will fix the problem or just give me a much sharper picture as those giving the advice seem to think it will.

As you said its more than likely just a defective product and luck of the draw. Its why I usually never buy any system day one as I always see people complain about issues and then have to wait for a fix. I jumped out the window with this one and now im "suffering" because I went against my normal mindset.

It gets very annoying having to turn your system on and off several times just to get a game/app to start
or stop and keep the image on the screen. I don't want to rush through Horizon to ship the Pro to be fixed but i do want the system to be fixed or replaced.

I wouldn't waste the money on Monster cables. They won't make the picture better, and they aren't any better than cheapo cables that have the required spec(hi speed HDMI rated, or fast Ethernet as it says on my cable). The one that came with the system should be sufficient. HDMI is a digital serial connection, so there is no loss in quality so long as the signal can pass through. Monster might be worth it for really long lengths, but even then I think it's overkill with people who get wrapped up in a brand name. Monster isn't even better in analog connections like for Speakers assuming you have the right gauge and same wire material. Some of the no name wire even has better shielding for 1/4 the price....like the off the reel stuff you can buy at lowes by the foot.

Think of it like this...do people say you need high quality USB cables to get better signals from a USB device like a hard drive? They don't, because it's not necessary. Both USB and HDMI are serial connections, they just have different transfer protocols, and it's highly unlikely that you would have enough interference over the short lengths you'd see around an entertainment center to need better conductors.

I doubt it's a defective unit. It'll likely be fixed in a patch. I haven't had the oppurtunity to play the system on another HDR enabled TV so can't say if that would fix it, but so far after about 5 hours, just switching the cable worked for me.

It's probably a timing issue between the TV and the PS4P, and likely could result in both units not performing optimally. While Sony hasn't commented, I'm sure they're aware of the issue, so hopefully firmware will quietly fix it. The thing with the launch was more widespread, mostly due to LG having to update it's screens to handle something so it could recognize the PS4/PS4P. I've seen people with OGPS4's with the same issue.

If it really is a widespred issue, I'd try to get warranty service for it before the year runs out.

I'd really like Sony to issue a statement on it though. Not something I want to live with for the life of the console.

External HDD is waiting right beside the PS4 Pro. I love when you can just download without ever looking how much space you have left. Kinda like I been doing after I gave my son my 2 TB PS4 and replaced it with the dinky 1 TB Pro. My external is 4 TB for the Pro and my X1 has a 4 TB as well.

The whole, " just delete games out", was the biggest overstatement of this generation. It sucks.

Looking forward to boost mode & seeing what PSVR FW 2.40 includes. I've heard the quality of Cinematic mode has improved. Hopefully most importantly it'll fix the screen drifting issue. One thing I have been really disappointed about is PSVR's 3D compatibility in video. Let's hope it gets better & we get full 3D depth support.

I bought a 2TB Seagate FireCuda Hybrid Drive. Now my PS4's Rest Mode doesn't work. It shuts down after a few minutes to an hour and I keep having to rebuild the database or scan the drive or whatever they call it. I don't want to damage my drive. Yesterday my PS4 was telling me it couldn't turn on. So I re-initialised it but learned afterwards I could have tried to disconnect it for a bit and launch it in Safe Mode to fix the issue. Rest mode still doesn't work properly. I wanted it so my whole system ran a bit faster while having more space. The external drive won't help the speed to my knowledge.
