Phantasy Star 2 Is One Of The Greatest Works Of Science Fiction

If there’s one game I can say changed the way I thought of storytelling and narrative, it was Phantasy Star II. Hands down one of the greatest JRPGs I played, it is a powerful work of science fiction. It was also what convinced me for the longest time that Sega had the edge in the 16-bit console wars.

I wish they could make a new Phantasy Star game like this.

Fist4achin2625d ago

Sega really needs to start digging from a lot of their past games. They could make a fortune!

Yes OMG.. I didn't know it was called this.. In Europe it was called Soleil.
I remember restarting it as soon as I finished it..

Story of Thor, Light Crusader deserve a special mention!!!

MrChow666862d ago

Light Crusader is the definition of underrated, love that game

RetroCaptainSteve862d ago

Loved Light Crusader! And funny, Story of Thor is Beyond Oasis here.

darthv72863d ago

...because of the actual game or that 'alternate' title screen???

Yui_Suzumiya862d ago

Hell yes.. I remember reading about that code in a gaming magazine when I was a kid, lol

Jiub863d ago

I really wish they would make new single player Phantasy Star games

Jiub863d ago

And also, PSIII is way underrated

WELL DAMN!

Really smart and tech conscious move though. I mean everyone is downloading these for free anyway on mediocre emulars on their phone anyway, so do this and you give a much easier and more refined way to do so that not only allows them to browse/discover games they never played but will certainly earn Sega some good publicity to the masses

Mobile...urgh

Why not give console players a bigger, better Sega Ultimate Genesis Collection

lellkay2508d ago

This whole thing would have been so much better on console....guess they are just pursuing the mobile market as its big in Japan.

godashram2508d ago

hmm... I get a "cannot be installed on your device's country" error when attempting to install....So not available in the US yet?

optimus2508d ago

I read another article that said it starts on Thurs. And today is wed. (In the u.s.) so check back tomorrow.

godashram2507d ago

Started working about an hour ago (Still wednesday here) and Sonic just went free too.. you just have to manually search for it since the link on the Sega Forever site is broken (Sega delisted the $2.99 version and relisted it as free)

Even if it has been a lot of XBLA titles, you have to give Microsoft credit for the BC efforts.

cfc832919d ago

Absolutely. Completed Alan Wake the other day on bc, and it hold its own against todays AAA titles.

thereapersson2919d ago

Alan Wake is still one of the best games of last generation, period.

shabz6662919d ago

yeeeah. i got alan wake from the qb pre order and started playing through it again. And finally finished witcher 2 last month through it. So far i'm liking the bc stuff. it just sucks i cant play gears 3 horde on it coz of the terrible framerate. but for the most part bc is pretty useful.

sammarshall1022919d ago

Yeah there's already a lot of good games that have been added

Femto2919d ago

they're also working on all 3 bioshock games right now

Yui_Suzumiya2919d ago

BioShock: The Collection coming to PS4/X1

XanderZane2919d ago

Didn't know Phantasy Star 2 was even on the XBox. I know there was an online version, but that was it.

Youngindy212919d ago

You are talking about 2 different games.

Splinter Cell: Conviction please!

Automatic792919d ago

Wasn't StarWars the Force Unleashed 1 and 2 release during the course of this week. These websites need to do a better job with gathering information. In all 7 titles Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, Dig Dug, Sonic & Knuckles, Phantasy Star 2, Samurai Shodown 2 and Runner2. MS is doing a great job. I may be off but I believe there are 176 titles in all.

Caedus5112919d ago (Edited 2919d ago )

Also Lego Star Wars launched on BC...I think that was for Star Wars day but maybe it was already BC?

XanderZane2919d ago

Which Star Wars games? There are several of them.
