Can Ultra Street Fighter II’s first-person “Way of the Hado” be anything more than a gimmick?

First-person, motion-controlled Street Fighter seems like a crazy idea, and early looks at the Way of the Hado mode don't inspire a lot of confidence.

it's nintendo... they go hand in hand with gimmicks lol

porkChop2647d ago

In all these years I've been playing games, I never knew that Nintendo developed the Street Fighter games.

Oh wait, they don't. Nice piss-poor attempt at trolling.

PapaBop2647d ago

With how SFV turned out, I almost wished Nintendo did develop Street Fighter games.

chobit_A5HL3Y2645d ago

is that mode available on any other platform? that's what i thought.

porkChop2645d ago

Nintendo isn't responsible for how a developer chooses to use its hardware. It doesn't matter if the mode isn't available on other platforms. Every platform has games that feature dumb gimmicks.

chobit_A5HL3Y2643d ago

i didn't say no other console had gimmicks, nor did i say nintendo was responsible for making that feature. i simply said nintendo and gimmicks go hand-in-hand. proof is in the wii and wiiu. you can try to defend nintendo all you want, but it's true lol

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2647d ago

It's only a gimmick because it not in the bare-bone Street Fighter V.

If this game sells for anything above $20, you could literally buy an old SNES and SF2 Super Turbo Championship edition for less. If you're going to blindly give your money away, give it to a charity that does good things for those in need, not a corporation fleecing you for every dollar you have to make up for current and past mistakes.

PapaBop2646d ago

Pretty sure it's already been confirmed to cost $40

NotoriousWhiz2646d ago

Or... You could not tell people how to spend their money.

TXIDarkAvenger2646d ago

Nah, I just don't see it being anything more than that.

ZeekQuattro2646d ago

Its a bonus game not unlike the wrecking cars or breaking barrels ones in the original release of Street Fighter 2. A fun diversion from the main game. Nothing more nothing less.

Something tells me this is a Ninty issue not a Capcom one.

Enigma_20991908d ago

You're half right. Nintendo Switch cartridges cost more than discs, so physical copies cost more. BUT Nintendo allows publishers to charge what they want for games on the consoles. Capcom goes the cheap route and uses smaller capacity cartridges to recoup costs, opting to make larger parts of their releases downloadable, and now it seems that they STILL overcharge you compared to releases on other consoles to cover the "Switch tax." So maybe don't be so quick to absolve them of guilt here. If anything, Nintendo is guilty of using an expensive format.

Definitely not buying these games at that absurd price. Fanboys might buy up anything for Switch but not level headed gamers.

I still can’t believe so many Switch owners bought that Street Fighter II port at such a high price. No wonder so many publishers believe they can get away with higher priced games on Switch, especially when Nintendo itself makes an unchallenged habit of it
