"The original PlayStation controller was a dud. Sure, it had a nice layout for buttons, but a lack of rumble or analog sticks held it back."

How could it be held back when rumble and analog sticks weren't around or even prevalent when this controller released in 1994? Sure it pales in comparison to the later DualShock, but it was still a fine controller for the time it was released.

honestly I don't find the DualShock from the PS1 to the PS3 very comfortable, but damn is the PS4 controller good

lptmg2446d ago

might be a weird addition but I love the Saturn's analog controller. It looks absurdely weird but it's super comfortable

I'd add the ps4 controller. Only real downside is battery life.

and the analogs are symmetrical

InTheZoneAC2468d ago (Edited 2468d ago )

Step 1. Have analog tension found on the DS4 and not feel dead like Xbox one controllers.
Step 2. Have a symetrical layout for the analog sticks
Step 3. Lose the concave and hybrid(domed/convex with donuts) and stick to domed/ps3 style thumbsticks..
Step 4. Do not have any stupid pattern or logo on the thumbsticks, keep it textured and grippy like dualshock 3 controllers.
Step 5. Do not have any stupid paddle/button protrusions you must reach for, any rear buttons must be placed within the handles where you would naturally rest your fingers.
Step 6. Must be wireless
Step 7. Shoulder buttons must have that mechanical, instant click response. Incorporate progressive triggers, but also have the option to make them like hair triggers, but actually be 100% hair triggers and not those fake hair triggers sold by scuf with stupid screw adjustments that don't work in all games.

And last but not least If you want a ps4 controller like that message me, I can build one

Dualshock 3 sticks sucked! Hence why they changed the style of sticks!

InTheZoneAC2468d ago

it appears you're not speaking from experience. You must be thinking of complaints about the soft potentiometers and not the design of the thumbstick itself. Those same potentiometers have sadly appeared in all xbox one controllers.

The ps4 thumbsticks are not well designed either despite the rest of the controller being about near perfect.

No dual shock 3 sucked and so does ds4 which is a Huge improvement over the ds3 though.
