Regardless of the music quality, I still remember that this is the same Metallica who routinely marches around suing everyone. Napster, Victoria's Secret, some French perfume maker, and didn't they even try to sue Activision after they licensed them music?

Granted, I love some of Metallica's music, but their attitude has completely turned me off of actually PAYING for any of it.

Old Metallica is timeless and will always be a great band to listen too. I seriously doubt Metallica will ever make an album better than Kill Em' All.

But saying new Metallica sucks just isn't fair.

The Jonas Brothers, My Chemical Romance, Fallout Boy, Tokio Hotel, Now all of those groups and all the other new similar groups like them suck and totally cater to the young teenage-girl, Radio Disney crowd.

When you say Metallica sucks you are basically putting Metallica in the same boat as all those fa**ots. That seriously isn't fair. 20 years from now people will still remember Metallica and their music will still be played on radio stations worldwide. Those other bands will be a faded memory in less than 5 years. I guarantee it.

I actually listened to Death Magnetic all the way through twice. I actually sort of like All Nightmare Long. However, the rest of the album is sort of meh.

Don't get me wrong--it's way better than that Fall Out Boy/Jonas Brothers/My Chemical Romance/etc. stuff--it's just that, compared to other artists in their genre at the moment, Metallica aren't particularly amazing.

Perhaps I misused a verb there. Metallica, with Death Magnetic, don't suck; they're just not that good.

not to mention, the mix is SH1T. sounds like they had their guitar levels too high, or recorded with a sh1t mic or something. there is an overly crunchy static sound from the guitars. it's horrible. what the F*CK were they thinking? reminds me of when they thought it would be a good idea for the snare drum to sound like Lars was banging on a tin can in their last album or whatever it was. too sh1tty to remember!

I get a better metal guitar sound with my equipment, and my sh1t SUCKS!

its amazing how many haters there are.....fact is they sell more albums than alot of bands. if they are sell outs....than every other band that has their songs in RB or GH are sell outs. in fact that would make any band that took money from a record company a sell out. the black album is considered one of their best albums. the people that were supposed Metallica fans are those who think they themselves are hardcore because they love Metal. i love all genres of music and appreciate everything Metallica has done(with the exception of St Anger) but some people will just hate Metallica for whatever reason. just remember they still and have sold more than Megadeth and any other supposed hardcore Metal band.

Metallica does not suck! They are one of THE GREATEST metal bands ever and METAL owes its ASS to mettalica because along with Slayer and megadeth they pushed metal into the mainstram media and gave all these current gay emo metal bands their shot at fame so if you hate metallica you hate metal and therefore your not a metal fan and your a poser!

Metallica's new album is great. Just as great as the black album and Master of puppets because it goes back to their roots.

Metal doesn't owe its ass to Metallica. Metal owes it's ass to the greats like Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, and Ozzy and Dio, and Ac/Dc and Iron Maiden.

And if anything Metallica helped push metal out of the mainstream. During the 80's metal was the music that defined the era. Now since Metallica and Slayer and Anthrax and Megadeth have gotten hold of the reigns, metal has lost all sight of what made it great. The great vocals (now its all about growls and disgusting screeching) the awesome guitar riffs (the great ones that had melody in them, instead of just speed), and the style (if you hate yourself, good for you, go take your bleeding arms and razors elsewhere and stop screaming into the mic and calling it music).

Metal today is disgusting. I do give credit to Metallica for not being one of those screaming emo douchebags bands, but they opened the door.

I've listened to Death Magnetic for quite some time. I really wanted to like it since I love old Metallica. All my hopes were crushed. They sound like a badly produced(what's up with the snares??) coverband trying their best to impersonate Metallica. My best word to describe it would be 'soulless'.

If you like metal you should save your money and pick up Bloodbath's "The Fathomless Mastery" instead.

Personally I think St. Anger was an OK album, Frantic and St. Anger where what I thought were good songs.

But I must admit, their older stuff is better.
