NZGamer: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood Hands On

NZGamer writes: "I was quite surprised when I came across Sonic Chronicles at the Games Convention Asia – either it hadn't been announced as a title, or I had completely missed it. But there it was, sitting nonchalantly between a big bunch of other DS titles, shouting "play me!" in my direction.

For those not in the know, a brief run down: Sonic Chronicles is a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG. Sounds crap, right? Especially considering how the series has gone in the last decade. But before you write it off, know that it's being made by Bioware, of Mass Effect and Baldur's Gate fame. These guys know how to make a good RPG."

The Good: Great production values; minimal annoying text

The Bad: Can an interesting story be told in the Sonic 'verse?

Why Bioware's Sonic RPG Sequel Never Got Made

Despite the fame and popularity of both the studio and the IP in question, not everyone knows that Bioware developed a Sonic RPG prior to them being acquired by EA, Sonic Chronicles for the Nintendo DS, and it was recently detailed in a DidYouKnowGaming video that both Bioware and SEGA were down for a sequel, but it was ultimately canceled for a surprising reason: SEGA was sued for copyright infringement

to be fair tho, the rpg for the DS was a mess.
touchscreen-only was not a good way to make a game like this.

I wish Sega got together with Square and made a Sonic RPG for the Genesis I would have played that.

I Know It Sucked, But It's Time For Another Sonic Chronicles Game

Just because the first one sucked, doesn't mean Sega should abandon the idea of a Sonic RPG.
