Honestly, if you need "easy tricks" to beat bosses, Nioh isn't the game for you. Half of the fun is discovering the bosses and finding out on your own how to beat them.

mikeslemonade2648d ago

Ehhh chances are you run out of soul stones anyway. These bosses are so tanky. You would need lots of them.

PeaSFor2648d ago (Edited 2648d ago )

im still at magic lvl 5 and never intended to use it, (character lvl 35) im all skill/dex/spirit/body and main weapon is kusarigama+ninjutsu)

CorndogBurglar2648d ago (Edited 2648d ago )

Yeah but the same can be said about any game. At the end of the day devs need to be careful about leaving game-breaking exploits in games. They are potential game killers, and there are always those people who will use those exploits as if they were meant to be part of the game. This seems like a poor design flaw to me.

TimelessDbz2648d ago

For you yeah. Some people like breaking, hacking or make it easier and they get the same amount of enjoyment as a person playing normally. So really don't try to tell someone it is not for you just because they don't have your outlook/playstyle .

Cy2648d ago

This. There are many ways to enjoy games. Contrary to popular belief, "gitting gud" is only one of them, and not one everyone shares. Let people enjoy games the way *they* enjoy games.

admiralvic2648d ago

"Nioh isn't the game for you. Half of the fun is discovering the bosses and finding out on your own how to beat them."

Yet there are countless guides, tips, tricks, advice and countless other things to help people do it...

I mean, this might be how you view games like Nioh, but some people have better things to do than sit there for hours losing to a single boss because you don't realize, notice or know something simple. The absolute perfect example of this is when I was doing Maelstrom Arena in The Elder Scrolls Online.

The first time I did the fourth area, I didn't know you could go under the boss during the lightning segment. This took a 20 minute fight that was extremely difficult down to the easiest boss in the whole event and one I could do in three minutes with ease.

The seventh boss took me a very long time to figure out and it was partly because of guides. I was aware you could stun him out of his one hit mechanic if you bash him and every guide I saw suggested you bash him. The problem is, if you bash him, he enrages and all his attacks seem to one hit me, so it became a really long fight was extremely frustrating, because I couldn't take a single hit of damage without dying. I later figured out that if I never bash him and instead keep one of the two enemies alive and stand in their shield, he wouldn't enrage and I could take a hit or two without dying. Had a guide told me this, I would've aced the fight in no time and had way more fun.

The point being, while this might be how you play it, some people don't like losing a fight for hours just because they don't realize something simple or go about it the wrong way. I would've NEVER went under the fourth boss and I forget why I changed up my method for the seventh boss, but I don't think I figured it out until the second or third time I beat him.

Dark_Knightmare22648d ago

But if you're sitting there and losing to the same boss for hours than maybe these types of games aren't for you. For how hard the soulsborne and nioh games are I've never ever got stuck at a boss for hours even when I was a novice going into my first souls game ever with ds 1

admiralvic2648d ago

"But if you're sitting there and losing to the same boss for hours than maybe these types of games aren't for you."

Isn't the whole point of the Souls series appeal to overcome the difficulty? I get that different people have different impressions, but it gets so confusing when you have one person saying the joy is overcoming the difficulty by your own devices, followed by another person saying that you must "get good" within this span of time or you're probably not meant to enjoy this title.

Furthermore, Maelstrom arena and the Souls series are very different. I only compared them because the spirit of figuring out the mechanics and overcoming them was the same. The big difference between the two is that, in my experience with the Souls series, Maelstrom is FAR cheaper.

While the seven boss took me hours to overcome, the difficulty NEVER came from dodging attacks. The difficulty actually came from one of two things happening. Either I was too far to stop the move I had to bash, resulting in an instant death (he screams and you die if you're anywhere besides in that bubble or interrupt it) or I died to the enemy that randomly spawned plants that exploded in an AOE that killed you within one or two seconds unless you made it to a specific point.

"For how hard the soulsborne and nioh games are I've never ever got stuck at a boss for hours even when I was a novice going into my first souls game ever with ds 1"

For what its worth, most people seem to overrate the Soulsborne games. For how hard they are, the series still has a 15 percent or higher platinum rate on PSNProfiles. If that stat doesn't sway you, the PlayStation Network itself lists the Demon's Souls platinum at 2.6 percent, with a whopping 19.8 percent beating the game. This 19.8 percent even includes all the people who just tried it when it was free with PlayStation Plus. Now, when you compare it to a more dynamic challenge, such as Vanquish's Tactical Challenge 6, the numbers plummet to .6 percent. I would compare it to Maelstrom, but the number of people who lack the DLC makes the numbers worthless, but it has an obtain rate of .3 if you're curious.

The point being, the games really are challenging, but they're challenging in a way that is easy to overcome. Once you know the trick or what to do, most of the fights are pretty ease. This holds somewhat true for Maelstrom, but again, that has more mechanics than I've ever seen in the Souls series.

Kurisu2648d ago

Which is why I'm staying away from this game, despite the praise it's getting! I tried Bloodborne when it launched and I couldn't even get past the first mob of enemies 😂

TheCommentator2648d ago

Actually, it is. That's why the article points out the exploits in the game.

sullynathan2648d ago (Edited 2648d ago )

By that logic, isn't fun finding these easy tricks to beat bosses.
Do you really have to go out of your way to discover a when every stage ends with a boss?

Letthewookiewin2648d ago

I'm stuck on the 3rd boss "Bat Girl" lol. Time to lvl up my shizz!

Ashunderfire862647d ago

Wear lighter and medium armor an use a high attack samurai sword to beat her. You want to wear the proper armor to move fast on this boss. Trust me it's a huge difference when you run past everyone of her stunn attacks, or that stupid bat twister combo she does.

Letthewookiewin2647d ago

Thanks I'm going to try that tonight!

luckytrouble2648d ago

Geeze, another cheap method to slamming bosses? Between this and the Sloth Talisman, a bit of work needs to be done to maintain the game balance as it was intended.

XanderZane2648d ago

Use this and the Sloth Tailsman and you you're good to go. Should be able to beat every boss in the game with no problems.

Raider692648d ago

They need to patch this quickly.

Gardenia2648d ago

Why? It's a single player game, no one got hurt by this

Bolts2648d ago

We must not let casual swine sully the honor of my giant gaming peen, or else my trophies will mean nothing!! Patch it.

RhymeNorReason2647d ago

Not agreeing it needs a patch, but a lot of single player games get patches these days. Including, but not limited to: Final Fantasy XV just recently.

Relientk772648d ago (Edited 2648d ago )

I heard of a really easy trick to beat bosses

When you get to the boss, pause the game and turn off your PS4. Then wait about 5 minutes, turn the PS4 on and go back into the game. Once you go back into the game, you will see that you automatically beat the boss.

This works 100% of the time, guarantee

TheFirstClassic2648d ago

This sounds like something I would have heard someone say in elementary school.

Omeganex99992648d ago

You got the second part wrong. When you're stuck at a boss, turn off the PS4, relax for a few hours, let the anger out then try it again. Most of the times this is enough to beat a boss.

joab7772648d ago

Don't be do it! Once ya do, it will ruin the entire experience for you!

The Nioh franchise has sold over 6 million copies worldwide

Team Ninja: "The Nioh franchise has sold over 6 million copies worldwide now!"

FallenAngel1984977d ago

At 6 million NiOh is on the cusp of nearly outselling Ninja Gaiden’s 6.8 million with just only 2 titles under its belt

This could mean Team Ninja may see no reason to return to producing new NG games

CaptainHenry916977d ago

But what if a new Ninja Gaiden sells well?

FallenAngel1984976d ago (Edited 976d ago )

The latest Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection had sold 240,000 units worldwide at last count

Unfortunately that may not be as high enough a number to convince Team Ninja to also commit to continuing Ninja Gaiden alongside Dead or Alive and NiOh.

And when they aren’t working on those they’re focused on licensed properties like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.

I wish I were wrong but that may be how Tecmo Koei sees it. Hopefully they prove me wrong and produce Ninja Gaiden 4 at some point

Yi-Long976d ago

To be fair, does anyone still trust Team Ninja with Ninja Gaiden*?

Let’s be honest here, it was Itagaki who created Ninja Gaiden greatness, with NG1, NG Black (improved version of NG1), and Ninja Gaiden 2.

The Sigma versions of 1 & 2, done without Itagaki, while decent/good, never lived up to the originals, and NG3 was a mess.

And they half-assed the collection, so many huge fans of the series never bothered picking that up.

I’d be excited if Itagaki would announce a return to the action ninja genre. If Team Ninja would announce a NG4, I’d be skeptical.

To be fair, Team Ninja DID show they’re still capable of releasing greatness with the Nioh games, but with Ninja Gaiden, without Itagaki, they have never been able to reach the quality of NG Black again.

(* … does anyone still trust them with the DOA games, for that matter … !? )

deadfrag976d ago (Edited 976d ago )

Things are not seen from that stand point.Ninja Gaiden Never had a game produced for PS4 or Xbox One from the ground up.Nioh sold 6 milion because exposure and Marketing are way bigger this days than they were on PS3 and Xbox 360 generation. The Ninja Gaiden collection was never going to sell much since theres nothing new on them, this collection is actually worse to what was already available on Xbox 360 and can be play by BC on any Xbox One console.Ninja Gaiden needs a new game that shows new stuff and that gets backed in the marketing like Nioh. This collection games have already been played by anyone that likes Ninja Gaiden years ago it didnt bring nothing new to the table it was obvious that it would not sell very well.

ocelot07977d ago

That's great and it's now free on the epic game store.

FinalFantasyFanatic976d ago

I just picked it up a couple of hours ago, it was a nice surprise to see it there.

jznrpg977d ago

Well made games glad they did well .

Brazz977d ago

they deserve this, Nioh is a amazing game. Hopefully they will expand and make a more ambitious game and have even more sales.

northpaws1107d ago

Talking about Goku, I used to like him a lot, but he just became a selfish jerk that only want to fight and left his family behind to rot lol, at least we see Vegeta spent some time with family here and there lol

Teflon021107d ago

Goku's far from selfish. He's just an idiot with an addition.
Also Dragon Ball Z starts with Piccolo basically being Gohan's dad. Not sure how these things became a realization in 2021 lmao

Germaximus1107d ago

PS Now additions have been rocking for quite awhile now.

iwin861107d ago

Street Of Rage 4 is awesome. Big recommendation.

RosweeSon1106d ago

Just bought physical 😏🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤣 does look great tho.

1107d ago
LucasRuinedChildhood1107d ago

Nioh was given out on PS Plus around a year ago (most people who have PS Now also have PS Plus) and Jump Force is not particularly good. There's a big gap in quality between PS Plus and PS Now.

Teflon021107d ago

Streets of Rage is a fantastic game. Didn't know about Nioh though. I don't think I have it. Though I'd rather play the ps5 version in the future

Petebloodyonion1107d ago

Streets of Rage 4 is a must-play title if you like beat em up.
Also, not everyone has PS+ so Nioh is still a good game.
