TimeSplitters Rewind gets official teaser trailer, targets a 2018 release date

Cinder Interactive Arts has released a teaser trailer for its upcoming CRYENGINE-powered remake of TimeSplitters, TimeSplitters Rewind. Timesplitters Rewind is a standalone multiplayer game being developed by fans of the original Timesplitters series, featuring characters, maps, and weapons from all three games completely rebuilt.

That was a trailer? Why even show achieved with cryengine when they showed absolutely nothing? Like show a model, show a gun, show something! Nothing at all was shown! I love timesplitters. One of my favorite multiplayer shooters of the ps2 GameCube days. Sigh

TheCommentator2661d ago

Lol! Not really a great trailer, is it?

Personally, I hope they still have the map editor. It was really cool for its day... lots of memories.

Angeljuice2661d ago

It's a bit worrying when they make a fairly long trailer and avoid showing any footage whatsoever. They seem to have zero confidence in their achievements.

XanderZane2660d ago

2017 is good, but this has to be one of the worse teaser trailers I've ever seen. Why was it so long. This trailer could have been 20 secs and we would have seen everything we needed to see. What a waste of time. I actually scrolled forward to see if any type of gameplay, characters or anything else was going to be shown. Hopefully we get to see the actual game at the E3.

Sciurus_vulgaris2661d ago (Edited 2661d ago )

I think, the actual targeted release date is 2017. The 2018 'rewinds' into a 2017.

Andreas-Sword2661d ago

I hope the game comes in 2017.

Thankfully crytek are a great company for letting fans, and in ways even helping them make this happen. Wonderful to see. It won't hurt the ip. Nintendo should hang there heads in shame. Been a follower of rewind for a long time and if and whenever crytek decide to make a TS game my money will be there. Nintendo giving a cease and desist to that metroid fan game when in reality my money is waiting for them to do it. Shunning that fan game was one of the reasons why i ain't getting a switch. No loyalty from them to fans that are trying to fill a void that they are creating. Only trying to be supportive in creative ways... Sickening.

Gardenia2661d ago

It's not an offical Timesplitters but a fan made project. But if this is doing well and get some media attention they might make a new Timesplitters after that, hopefully

MaxiPower902661d ago

I know that, read my comment again, rewind has the blessing from crytek and they even helped with a few things such as access to assets

Get off that damn terrible game engine now. Even big studios have had problems over the years optimising that thing. Move it over to Unreal 4 now before its too late.

WeedyOne2661d ago

Cryengine seems like its capable of producing the best graphics though, even if its not the easiest to use. Its far from a "terrible game engine".

Adexus2661d ago

After playing through Gears 4 on PC I'm actually wishing devs would use Unreal 4 more, it looks incredible and is a very scaleable engine.

Angeljuice2661d ago

"Move it over to Unreal 4 now before its too late."
They already did once (without telling Crytek). Then Crytek moved in on the project, kicked a few butts (several people left), and had a far stronger hand in the production.
I'm not expecting too much from this game, the birth has been too chaotic.

Very cool news. 4-player split screen Timesplitters 2 is still probably the best post-Goldeneye multiplayer experience going. Would be cool if they had all the story missions.

Fan-Made TimeSplitters Rewind Gets Development Update

The fan remake of the original TimeSplitters trilogy, TimeSplitters Rewind has received a development update, showing off some new progress.

Snookies12872d ago

Now you won't have to miss them. I do agree though, some of the best multi-player I've experienced back in the day. Just below Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. Here's hoping at some point they can include the amazing map editor that used to be in the games!

execution17872d ago

I sure hope that it's good. Definitely pc or laptop just to replay these again

Man, I have been waiting for this forever. I gave up on it along time ago. I hope they fine tune the controls a bit.

snoopgg1594d ago

Is this still coming to consoles or is it pc only now? It was a ps2 launch.title that I played alot of with multitap and friends.

TimeSplitters Rewind is still alive, new screenshots released

DSOGaming writes: "It’s been a while since our last look at the fan-made remake of TimeSplitters 1, 2 & 3, TimeSplitters Rewind, right? In fact, back in July, the team claimed that it was experiencing development issues due to CRYENGINE. However, TimeSplitter Rewind is still alive and Cinder Interactive Arts has released some new screenshots from it."

Timesplitters was the Overwatch of 6th gen.
Love this game.

Sciurus_vulgaris2353d ago

Timesplitters barely resembles Overwatch..... Sadly, Timesplitters was never as successful as Perfect Dark or Goldeneye 007.

XisThatKid2353d ago

Successful nah but I personally enjoyed this much more i can't wait. I donated for the Kickstart and everything

The-Matrix-has-you2353d ago
