The vanilla version of this game, was already more demanding than it should of been. Fallout 4's technical performance on PC and consoles was unacceptable.

Allsystemgamer2659d ago

I'm able to run bf1 on ultra at about 155FPS average in 1080p.

Fallout 4 I get around 70. I mean wtf Bethesda.

Sciurus_vulgaris2659d ago (Edited 2659d ago )

Bethesda used an extremely dated engine to create Fallout 4. For example all the lighting in Fallout 4 was uses only 1 CPU.

Fishy Fingers2659d ago (Edited 2659d ago )

Christ! That's surprising to me (not played F4 on PC). That's bad optimisation.

Side note. Up the resolution on BF man! Or downsample.

Allsystemgamer2659d ago

@fishy

Oh I downsample alright. I was just making a point.

Doensampled from 4k eliminates ALL aliasing and stays at a buttery smooth 60fps. It looks so nice.

I ❤ my 1080 strix.

Fishy Fingers2659d ago

Ah I suspected you might of been. I love mine too :D

KwietStorm_BLM2659d ago

I think a much better comparison would be The Witcher.

mikeslemonade2659d ago

If you got a 970 or lower than you are no better than a console pedestrian.

Gaming_Cousin2659d ago

I got around 45 fps in towns with my 980ti @2k. Bethesda is shit when it comes to optimization and bugs

IamTylerDurden12659d ago (Edited 2659d ago )

Fallout 4 basically uses the old ass Gamebryo engine. We're talking over a decade old for the base tech. With Witcher 3 and Horizon showing how beautiful an open world game can be Bethesda needs to make some changes.

Bigpappy2659d ago (Edited 2659d ago )

The problem with that comparison, is Bf1 is nothing like FO4. FO4 is a big open world RPG where every piece of material and it's components are tracked. not only that, almost every NPC has a schedule or routine which include work and sleep. People too often take how Bethesda makes games for granted. There is a lot more happening with NPC and objects than any other developer.

escott0132659d ago

@Allsystemgamer It's worth noting that they are two totally different types of games. The amount of objects and things you can interact with, the AI, and all of the computations that go with all of that... It's just so totally different. The performance vs graphical fidelity alone is such a skewed way to look at optimization, to be honest.
For the record, I really like your username.

DanteVFenris6662658d ago

to be far there is more going on in fallout. But it still doesn't excuse it.

At least the Pro version is coming next week and it will improve resolution and lighting.

joab7772659d ago

Wish it had come before Nioh, Horizon, Nier, Mass Effect, P5 ...

ServerBOT2659d ago

Definitley. Graphics were good at times but damn it felt unoptimized.

cencik2658d ago (Edited 2658d ago )

this is bethesda in full glory..what can we expect.. rx 480 8 gigs..

Derceto2659d ago (Edited 2659d ago )

No surprise here. If a competent developer had coded this thing, the base game requirements would be far less.

How simply some higher res textures increase the requirements of the CPU this much, is truly a mystery.

Ubisoft to Focus on "Return to Leadership" in Open World Genre, Expand Live Service Experiences

Ubisoft says they are focusing on two "core verticals," and that's to return as a leader in the open world genre, and live service games.

enkiduxiv15h ago

Calling Ubisoft a leader in open world gaming at any point in time would be like calling Dollar General a leader in retail.

excaliburps3h ago

Well, to be fair, they did pump out good open world games before. It was used as a template so much that people now know what it means when you say it's like an Ubi open world collectahon.

shinoff21831h ago

What though? I can't think of one game they had where I liked anything about it. Atleast since the ps3/360 Gen

Kornholic1h ago

If they have never been the leader in open world gaming, then explain me this: why does almost every open world game follow the same tired old Ubisoft open world formula?

Follow the Leader.

isarai14h ago

You were never the leader bro 🤣

shinoff218312h ago(Edited 12h ago)

I don't think they were ever the leader tbh. I've never really cared for any of their open world games. I do wanna try watch dogs 2 because it looks like it's set in San Fran. Looked interesting

Name someone that isn't trying to look us these days maybe cdpr.

Take two, ubi and yes even PlayStation are pushing us to own nothing and be happy with our live service ad injected games on a sub so they can raise prices at will and take access away when they see fit.

If it keeps up I'll be a full time retro gamer and this industry will be crashing hard

As rediculas as it sounds we need government reforms to defend consumer rights
