The Deus Ex Franchise Is Taking a Break

Because of Eidos Montreal’s current workload, and the reception of 2016's Mankind Divided, it looks like there won't be a new Deus Ex Franchise title soon.

If this game failed to reach profitable sales, I would think the messy PC launch caused a significant loss of sales. The Deus Ex IP, is historically PC , and the PC community is becoming less forgiving of shobby PC ports and rocky launches. I'm currently playing through Deus Mankind Divided, it's a pretty solid game, but from a technical standpoint the game is rather rough around the edges.

SE to blame for this bs. They bastardize the game with season pass, extra modes that no one asked for and microtransaction.

It didn't run great on all platforms, the game while great looking in certain areas was a big performance hog for what it was doing..

I'm playing on PS4, sometimes the game literally runs at 20fps in some parts of the main city. The Lip syncing is really bad, often failing to match a characters words. Character models and textures generally look nice, but some NPCs look low poly and have terrible hair. Animations and physics are also sometimes very strange. I still enjoy the game though.

messy pc launch? the pc version was great. they ruined the game by cutting out content for dlc and also felt like the gane was a side step, that they was saving most of the important story for later games.

They dumbed Mankind Divided down and strip some content for obvious DLC

Who knew trying to sell 2/3 of a game with pre-order crap, dlc crap, microstransaction crap, and mobile tie-in crap, would result in underwhelming sales.

I don't play favourites. I'm no fanboy. I call em as I see em. I love the character, but the game was seriously hindered by SE's meddling.

Not sure why I would have to explain something as simple as this, but.... there it is.

Square Enix hurt the game with its augment your pre-order trailer nonsense and even after that was dropped it the damage was done. The microtranstions in a single player game didn't help either. I still enjoyed the game though. I beat it a few time.

DAMMIT. I loved Mankind Divided. LOVED. The story isn't over and they were already working on the next one before it was released. Sure Square Enix made some dumb decisions but I don't hold Eidos accountable.

Maybe next time try actually marketing your game...I didn't even know MD was out until about a month afterward.
