If this game failed to reach profitable sales, I would think the messy PC launch caused a significant loss of sales. The Deus Ex IP, is historically PC , and the PC community is becoming less forgiving of shobby PC ports and rocky launches. I'm currently playing through Deus Mankind Divided, it's a pretty solid game, but from a technical standpoint the game is rather rough around the edges.
Square are solely to blame, it was their greed that put people off. What did they expect...

They dumbed Mankind Divided down and strip some content for obvious DLC
Who knew trying to sell 2/3 of a game with pre-order crap, dlc crap, microstransaction crap, and mobile tie-in crap, would result in underwhelming sales.
