I hope this sells well for those who like this type of punishment. This type of aggravation isn't for me, so I'll be waiting for the next Gaiden.

SilverDemon2681d ago

Punishment?
It's called challenge

opinionated2681d ago

It's not as bad as you think. As long as you can make it back to where you died you can basically farm your level. Once you are level 10 those first enemies that killed you in one hit are fodder like they are supposed to be. In bloodborne it's much more difficult, death is death and you start over. You should give it another try this weekend. You will die a lot but you are never not "leveling up" unless you lose a bunch of xp by doing something stupid which really sucks lol.

starchild2681d ago

Ninja Gaiden has always been a challenge too.

In any case, Nioh is very exciting for me. The gameplay, the setting, the atmosphere...all of it resonates with me and I hope it does well so that it becomes a franchise or inspires other devs to make similar kinds of games.

KTF262681d ago

what punishment?
Dark Souls is easier than Ninja Gaiden

After getting the plat. from Bloodborne, i am excited for Nioh.. Though i'll have to see few tutorials to know and understand few things.

Wallstreet372681d ago

This will tide me over until Dark Souls 3 new dlc. I love these type of games. Damn and Horizon later that month, then Zelda and Switch wtf! I haven't finished my extensive psvr and ps4 backlog, I'm screwed.

Kyizen2681d ago

Stop buying games for a bit catch up on yoir backlog and the get the games you wanted on sale! Unless it is a multiplayer game there is no reason to get it day one.

Wallstreet372681d ago

I do do that which is why I've passed on Gravity Rush 2 and will pass on Nier Automata till they are bargain bin. Nioh however I have to get as I love anything Souls like. Horizon I have CE preorderd and can't wait. I shouldn't be getting a Switch bcus I hate everything Nintendo is doing but I'm a sucker for new hardware :(.

nix2681d ago

i buy games early as my way of saying thanks to the devs. of course, i don't buy every game. i know what i want and how the game is going to be. i don't support over hyped games that are average because i'm smart enough to realise what's garbage and what's gem.

DeadlyOreo2681d ago

This ^

If I like the look of a game, and the development team have clearly put in a lot of work I will support them by purchasing the game full price because they earn it. If everyone bought from the bargain bin there wouldn't be computer games.

opinionated2681d ago

I liked the article. I have played the demos and i pretty much agree. I wouldn't compare it to soulsborne games though. It feels like the ninja gaiden team made a slower paced samurai game instead. Instead of flips and momentum it's legit sword stances and counters. The rpg elements and loot system put it over the top. It's going to be great.

"Feedback was positive, particularly from our European and American users. They enjoyed the game and an overwhelming majority gave Nioh an extremely high rating in the survey which was conducted."
Good! Good! Buy up fellas.

Dixiedevil2681d ago

Demon Souls platinum: check.
Dark Souls platinum: check
Dark Souls 2 platinum: check
Bloodbourne platinum: check
Dark Souls 3 platinum: check
Nioh platinum: ...inevitable
Can't wait to get it.

nix2681d ago

wow. i barely scrapped through Demon Souls. i killed the King with the help of thousands of arrows without even facing him close. Everything is fair in love and war, i guess. Couldn't finish DS 1/2. Skipped 3. Finished Bloodborne.

i'll probably love Nioh though.

Josuey2681d ago

i have all of those except dark souls 2 (hated it) and demons souls which i need to finish up

DeadlyOreo2681d ago

Could not get that Dark Souls 3 platinum due to the sheer pain of farming those item drops from the deacons. It just got to tedious for me.

Ubisoft say AC Shadows protagonists will be "romantically attracted to different types of people"

Ubisoft recently shared more details about Assassin's Creed Shadows protagonists, confirming that both of them will romantically attract and be attracted to different types of people.

Hugodastrevas17h ago

That should please everyone I'm sure...

Feudal Japan DEI LGBTQ+ Samurai, sounds very accurate for the time period. Surely a decision made only with historical accuracy in mind.

Crows902h ago

Or even modern day accuracy.....

Lexreborn22h ago

You have no idea what you are talking about, bet you didn’t know nobunaga was bi-sexual. Or ran maru his is often depicted as androgynous was a “beautiful boy”.

So yeah, feudal Japan had tons of lgbtq and kawaii enough… A BLACK SAMURAI! All without the need of offending a Caucasian because the world is diverse.

VenomUK48m ago(Edited 43m ago)

This story has cracked me up so much! Bravo Ubisoft, bravo! 🤣. So last week everyone was upset that in the long-awaited first Assassin’s Creed: Japan game the protagonist is black. But NOW he is also LGBTQ+ ! It’s like the Ubisoft creative team sat around a table and said “How can we best impress our Kotaku/IGN/Polygon friends and antagonise gamers? Let’s make it woke x 100!’ And then they all silent clapped!

Just you wait until the Star Wars: Outlaws details come out, there better not be anybody complaining about Kay Vess’ dating preferences and the gay droid armies.

Christopher29m ago

It actually is.

Japanese were very Greek in their sexual experiences.

lodossrage26m ago

Lexreborn2 is right

Go read up on Japan's feudal era homosexuality and bisexuality was a very common thing in that time.

I just have to laugh because the same people complaining about this are the same ones crying about wanting "historical accuracy". When it's clear most of the whiners don't even know history themselves.

CrimsonWing692h ago

Geezus, just make a good game… holy sh*t this is becoming insufferable.

Crows902h ago

Oh yeah!!!! What about being inclusive???

I'm sorry
..please replace the word inclusive with stupid.

Hofstaderman1h ago

You asking UbiSoft to make a good game? This is not 2002.

Hofstaderman1h ago

I take my hat off to you good sir. Brilliant.

Laskin32m ago

Thanks… I was originally going to write Samu-Bi but then I realized it was right there already so it works better

darthv722h ago

Is that genuinely a selling point for people?

RpgSama2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

They sure as hell want to see if it is, time and time and time again.

VincentVanBro1h ago

You have to understand they’re incapable of writing a good story so this is the best they could come up with

Unannounced Valve 6v6 Shooter MOBA Footage Leaked

ESTNN writes: "A leak for Valve's 6v6 3rd-person shooter MOBA has supposedly been released ahead of time. And if the reports are true, fans of the genre have much to be excited for."

XiNatsuDragnel1d 10h ago

Deadlock looks like bioshock and Moba had babies

JunonZanon2h ago

Valve really cannot count to 3.

Number1TailzFan47m ago

They should've had a new L4D like 10 years ago, it can be expanded upon a lot more but they just left it collecting dust.. it was a good game for its time but L4D2 doesn't have nearly enough content these days to keep players engaged, and it needs a serious graphics upgrade

Wow.... two of my earliest gaming platforms. All they need is Coleco to round things out.

This is like Nintendo buying SEGA.

OtterX6h ago

YES! Colecovision was my start! I came to know Mario there in Donkey Kong before the NES was even a thing. :)

Golfcoachh3h ago

Yes such fond memories. My first was the odyssey, but I really started gaming on my colecovision. Had atari and intelivision but coleco was by far the best of the bunch to me.

Kratos_Kart20073h ago

Yes...a gamer from my era...LMAO

Coleco was good...LOL

anast8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

Good piece of history here.

edit: I wanted to read it but the cookies pop up is stopping me.

badboyz097h ago

This was just before my time. I do remember my mom's friend having one all dusty in her apartment back in the day.

People forget that console wars are part of the history of this industry. The console wars were started by competitive companies all the way back then and continued through Sega vs Nintendo, Jaguar/3DO/NeonGeo, and PlayStation vs Nintendo and Xbox.

These companies are across oceans and competing for the same business. These companies created the console wars, not crazy fanboys.

anast5h ago

Console wars are fun. It's fun to be a fanboy too. I don't get what's wrong with any of this as entertainment.

darthv725h ago

Young kid school yard banter was fun. 30-40+ year olds still doing it is just disturbing. Many my age (50+) grew out of that a long time ago. We may still have our preferences, but we also embrace a more central position because there is a lot to enjoy on a wide range of genres and systems.

You'll understand one day and then things will forever change.

Petebloodyonion2h ago

The only thing back then was that the game would still appear on competing platforms.
Remember the Coleco Vision could play Atari2600 games via an Expansion modude.

jznrpg7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

I had both. Snafu on Intellivision was addicting as hell. Also had Colecovision which had Time Pilot. Combat was probably my favorite Atari game and both Atari and Intellivision had similar games like Pitfall and Jungle Hunt. It’s been so long I don’t really remember which game I liked bettter out of those but I did play my Intellivision a bit more than Atari though I’m not sure why besides Snafu. That was 40+ years ago damn I’m old lol

Dagexon5h ago

Ahh you're making me all nostalgic! Not old enough to have played these on original hardware but my first console was a bootleg console from Costco that had a bunch of intellivision and atari games. Then had a lot of fun with intellivision and atari collections on ps1 and 2.
Snafu was one of my favourite games and me and my partner still occasionally play it to this day
