I thought it was getting 16 new tracks?

kevnb2676d ago

Maybe it's just all the dlc.

ABizzel12676d ago

It is, and the Splatoon battle mode stage.

NukaCola2676d ago (Edited 2676d ago )

So we can all assume Nintendo wouldn't charge $60 for this right? /s

EddieNX 2676d ago (Edited 2676d ago )

Its got new battle mode tracks which was the only thing missing from the game. There's a ton of tracks when the dlc is included and its native 1080p and portable with 8 player LAN multiplayer. 2 peopple can play it with the joy con wjich is cool. It deserves a new lease of life on switch, people who missed out on it are in for a major, major treat!

Foxtrot its listed at £50 . the final price is gunna be £50 for Zelda Argos is the first to set the price other retailers will follow. Final price will be £40 for Mario kart deluxe i did 200 hours on Wiiu but I'm getting it again its THAT good!

-Foxtrot2676d ago

@EddieNX

Yeah but that's still not worth £60 in the UK

DLC has been out for a while

Characters...are characters

Battle Mode should have been in the original...seems like the other one was a slap dash job. Yet NOT ONCE were they called out over it.

Liqu1d2676d ago

@Foxtrot It's actually £50.

The 10th Rider2676d ago

@Foxtrot,

It was called out for its lack of battle mode in many reviews. The game is, by far, the best Mario Kart yet and it only has a 89 on Metacritic because they did a half-a**** job with the battle mode and it rightfully got docked points for it.

XanderZane2675d ago

Should be $30 or less. Game has already been out for years on the Wii U.

Deadpooled2675d ago (Edited 2675d ago )

@l1quid

£50 for a port with just battle mode added (£50 in itself is highway robbery for a game considering you can get PS4/Xb1 games before release for £35-40 and at launch for £40-£45) yet people talk shit over PS3 to PS4/360 to Xb1 remasters and remakes which are sold for less than full price?

Dan_scruggs2675d ago

I don't know. If Sony can charge 50 for the Last of Us with ZERO new content then It serves to reason that Nintendo can charge 10 more for new battle mode with new racers and carts. Oh but this site hates everyone but Sony. I forgot.

Utalkin2me2675d ago

@Dan_scruggs

Do you need to go to your safe space?

Was 50 bucks for LOU on PS4 worth it? Sure it was for people that hasn't already played it. Not only did it have improved graphics it doubled the framerate. But it wasn't for people that has already played it. But Sony doesn't have to worry about trying to get people to buy their console.

Nintendo on the other hand should tread a little more lightly they are not in the same position as Sony and really need to get off to a good start. They have already over priced the console, then if you start over pricing the remakes then it's not going to bold well for them. This is not how you're going to get people to buy your console, especially the people that own a WiiU and owned MarioKart.

jrshankill2675d ago

Mario kart 8 on Wii U DOES have a battle mode. Not as good as previous entries but it is still there.

This is quite eye opening. People hear commenting and judging when they never played mario kart 8 on Wii U.

If you listened to rumors as gospel truth. Always take rumors with a grain of salt and highly doubt them as true. It helps to keep unrealistic expectations in check.

Ron_Danger2675d ago

That's... (takes sunglasses off) un-port-tunate...

I'll see myself out..

XanderZane2675d ago

Whaaaaat!?!? I thought the same thing. So will these tracks be $$$ DLC again? F.U. Nintendo. I definitely will not rebuy Mario Kart 8. For the Wii U I had already purchased all the DLC tracks and my daughter unlocked everything in the game. Won't be doing that again. Bring out Mario Kart 9 already.

NapalmSanctuary2675d ago

"So will these tracks be $$$ DLC again?"

No. All DLC is included with the game at No extra cost.

MRMagoo1232675d ago

@napalm

"at no extra cost" besides the £50 or $60 usd you have to pay to get a port with dlc 😂

pcz2675d ago

only people who drink kool aid believed that

conanlifts2675d ago

These are the 16 dlc tracks i think. It is getting more battle maps for the battle mode. But not for racing.

XanderZane2675d ago

Not going to explode. Just won't buy the game. Will wait for MK9.

jrshankill2675d ago

16 DLC tracks from the Wii U version. Please say you actually played this gem of a game.

Nyxus2676d ago

Disappointing. But at least it comes with the DLC, which I haven't played yet. Still for a so-called 'Deluxe' edition they could've done more.

EddieNX 2676d ago

Things like 8 player LAN play and 2 people being able to play with a joy con each is awesome. To be able to play Mario kart 8 on the go is pretty epic

gums0072676d ago

Will it be also awesome when you realize you're the only person you know who actually bought a switch?

EddieNX 2675d ago (Edited 2675d ago )

I wont be and yes because I'll be playing breath of the wild, Im very very excited lol . I played Mario kart 8 a ton locally on wiiu and I'll do it all again on the switch sucka ;). People love it

_-EDMIX-_2675d ago

Yea.

Sounds like a good idea to just keep the Wii u version

The 10th Rider2676d ago

Yeah, stinks for people that already own the game. If I get a Switch I guess I won't be picking this up until it's cheap. For those that don't own it, though, it's still, without a doubt, worth picking up at full MSRP. It was a huge leap ahead of Mario Kart Wii and battle mode was the only thing it was missing. The DLC was awesome as well.

maybelovehate2676d ago

Hopefully people won't buy it. criminal to sell it at that price with no upgrade path for those that already own the game. Encouraging this kind of disrespect will only encourage them to do it again.

wonderfulmonkeyman2675d ago

It happens on other consoles too.
Why not try calling out someone other than Nintendo for once? (and before you say it, yes, I have taken Nintendo to task for many of their mistakes)

bluefox7552675d ago

@wonderfulmoneyman We do. Clearly you've never been to any of the articles regarding the Skyrim remaster.

Utalkin2me2675d ago

@wonderfulmonkeyman

Other console makers do get called out for it. But not only that Nintendo is not in a position as the other console makers either. They are trying to dig themselves out of a hole. If you start over pricing your console and over pricing your remakes too, this wont bold well for Nintendo.

MrMagz2676d ago

This actually doesn't bother me at all. We are getting 4 new characters and an all new battle mode, in addition to the already 48 tracks that are in Mario Kart 8. They are more than likely working hard on the next Mario Kart game to come out in 2019, so adding even more here would mean that they have less material to work with for future games. And/or there is a possibility of DLC for MK8 Deluxe and essentially make this a platform style game that just updates over time.

NapalmSanctuary2675d ago

To me its a brand new game, period. Never owned a Wii U. Picked up MK Wii just to see if I could get into the series and now MK8D is one of my more anticipated games this year. Can't wait. I'll be able to hop back and forth between it and Persona 5, assuming Ace Combat 7 doesn't get a surprise release around then, which is unlikely.

Nintendo. Leading that charge, with the least effort possible.

Looking Ahead: The Lingering Questions About the Next Mario Kart

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "10 years. It’s been almost 10 years since the last mainline release in the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart 8 came out for the Wii U in 2014 and became the best-selling game for the system by a sizeable margin, and later pulled the same magic trick on the Nintendo Switch under the stage name Deluxe. All in all, it's sold nearly 70 million copies over the last decade and is still selling like hot cakes to this day, so it’s no wonder Nintendo has been in no rush to replace it. However, with rumors of a new system being just around the corner, and reports a few years back that a new Mario Kart is indeed under way, it seems the era of 8 might very well be drawing to a close. It’s an exciting prospect to be sure, but after two Nintendo systems with Mario Kart 8 at their heart, a lot of questions remain about how Nintendo will choose to follow it up."

I hope they just keep building on Mario Kart 8; Add a track-creation tool, and probably open it up to more Nintendo IPs with new tracks and characters, so Metroid, Punch Out, Starfox, Animal Crossing, etc etc.

gold_drake32d ago

there wont be a new one until the switch 2 comes out.

nintendo needs their bangers early on
