Microsoft has presented an Xbox One S with Minecraft to Hideo Kojima

Hideo Kojima has posted on Twitter the photo of the first gift he received for Christmas 2016: Microsoft has given the father of Metal Gear an Xbox One S bundled with Minecraft, a Christmas bundle announced last November and now available in all stores.

UltraNova2710d ago (Edited 2708d ago )

Oh MS you know you want a piece...

Edit @ darth

"I'd love to see him recreate something from metal gear or ZoE in minecraft"

He'd propably get sued by Konami the next minute he uploads that level. I m not kidding.

darthv722710d ago

I'd love to see him recreate something from metal gear or ZoE in minecraft. He can do that because it is using the games assets and not ones he created for Konami. I have seen some really impressive things done in MC over the years. Kojima... just let that creativity build away.

I don't think MS reads the news, Kojima is with Sony now. After all the cash you all throw around on exclusive content for games, how the hell do you let this gaming genius go without throwing some funds his way. TBH when Kojima left I thought M$ gonna get him, but they let him slide our way.

OC_MurphysLaw2709d ago

@b163o1 do you really think MS didn't try and get him to work on their console? Kojima has always been tight with Sony so I doubt there was much they could do to pull him away from making something with Sony including loads of money especially once Sony offered the support they did.

freshslicepizza2709d ago (Edited 2709d ago )

this is why some of you guys are so out of touch with reality and so hampered from being within your own bubble. people like phil spencer can and does respect what he has done for the industry and he and others that work at microsoft also play games on other systems. some of you people need to wake up and stop this nonsense that competing platforms are evil.

darthv722709d ago

@tohotoho4... I feel like I read that before. Oh yeah... from your tohotoho2 account further down that was marked as spam. Trying with another account I see. Well... good luck with that.

nitus102709d ago

Well, not really a trap but basically cheap publicity.

Even if Hideo Kojima tosses the console in the nearest bin the overall cost of the XB1s + game to Microsoft is nothing compared to what they spend on advertising anyway.

Just in time for Rogue One!

Cheap publicity tricks. Kojima's not fooled though so that's good.

Can't wait to see more of Death Stranding.

showtimefolks2709d ago

They saw death stranding and now are wond ring why they asked for a demo before they can green light the project when Sony basically gave him a blank check and a tour of all its studios for a game engine he likes

He was gonna go with Sony regardless just because he always has had a great partnership with them but some publishers could have made a better effort

Phill-Spencer2708d ago (Edited 2708d ago )

Lucky he is with sony. Would have been a waste as xbox players do not appreciate creative games and that's what kojima is all about. So his first game without konami would flop. That wouldn't be what the mastermind, who brought us metal gear, deserves. Xbox gamers should rather wait for the next gears or halo, which should not take too long. (No offence!)

solid_snake36562709d ago

Hmm just a box -- random guard from mgs1

MRMagoo1232708d ago

😂 yup then out pops Greenberg with a chloroform rag from behind

Kurdishcurse2708d ago

ohhhh why wouldnt they? hes kojima-sama. all hail the metal snake that slithered through the konami desert, into the sweet forest of sony.

MRMagoo1232708d ago

it probably has a sound receiver inside of it so they can spy on hideos meetings 😂 it is MS after all

solid_snake36562703d ago

@MRMagoo123 I'm sure they gave him a kinect so they can spy on him. Jokes on the though, he probably won't even plug it in since its garbage lol.

No harm in giving a gift and letting a developer know you are interested in working with him on a project once he is done with his ongoing project . Should he never make a game for Xbox so be it

@Razrye2 Am not concerned with PS4Pro , My concern is for my preferred System .
Should he never make a game for Xbox so be it , life continues .

christocolus2710d ago (Edited 2709d ago )

I would like to see what he can do with Scorpio.

@XXanderXx

Also remember the lead tech guy at Dice was featured in that video too. I think the major devs/studios all have dev kits or prototypes. I really can't wait to see what all these talented devs can do with that machine. Day one.

@others

OK -_-

XXanderXX2710d ago (Edited 2710d ago )

If Todd Howard is willing to comment on Scorpio and mention FO4 & VR , can u imagine what other developers are thinking of creating with Scorpio . The next few years after release are going to be awesome .

dRanzer2709d ago

The same thing he can do with GTX 1070(or less)

curtis922709d ago

By that time PS5 will have long since been out. Death Stranding doesn't go into full swing production until later in 2017. PS5 softly rumored to be 2019. Takes more than 2 years to do a full fledged new IP.

Razrye22709d ago

The same thing that he can do with a playstation pro

That would be interesting. He is a hardware pusher. Msg 2 and 3 at the time on PS2. And mgs4 on PS3 at the time.

subtenko2709d ago

booooooo disagree disagree disagree disagree.

_-EDMIX-_2709d ago

Too late.

The way Sony is courting him it sounds like his team is likely going to end up being permanently at Sony.

They are paying for his trademark and copyright of his next game, they are paying to have one of their top Studios allow him to use one of their engines and even modify it, it is very clear that they are very much making a huge impression on him to stay.

It wouldn't surprise me if Sony has already purchased the intellectual property and I've already signed a long-term deal with him. The likeliness of him working with Microsoft is very slim.

XXanderXX2709d ago (Edited 2708d ago )

Until he himself states as much , he is free to work with whomever he choose .
As for all that other stuff you mentioned none of it will be needed, if he is contracted quiet sure he knows how to work with other Engines such as UR4 and will be accommodated with the tools he may need .

OC_MurphysLaw2709d ago

After his time at Konami I am sure Kojima will want to remain on his own. I think the only thing that would get him to go back to being a owned studio would be if they hit real financial trouble. That all said, I am sure he will seek a relationship like Insomniac had with Sony for many years.

Christopher2709d ago

***they are paying to have one of their top Studios allow him to use one of their engines and even modify ***

Sony wasn't involved in that at all, GG did that all on their own without telling anyone.

Inzo2708d ago

Well Kojima partnering with GG says it all, besides, he has a huge love for Playstation and he has mocked Xbox in his games, remember the disk change scene in MGS4.

_-EDMIX-_2708d ago

@chris- LMFAO! No Buddy, Sony owns Guerilla Games that is highly unlikely that Guerrilla games would be allowing another team to modify an engine that they created with money from a publisher that owns their team.

That's so unlikely it's not even funny in fact if any member from Guerrilla games were to, without permission reveal such a code to another developer that is not part of that company , Not only would it be grounds for termination, they could potentially be sued by Sony. anything created under that studio is technically owned by Sony Computer Entertainment.

When your owned by a company technically the stuff that you create is owned by them ,not you. you don't act independently, I have no idea why you would even assume such a thing.

Did you just have amnesia over the whole Activision and Electronic Arts situation when Infinity Ward left Activision?

It is highly unlikely that Guerilla games or naughty dog or any of Sony's owned teams we're openly giving information away to someone that's not part of Sony Computer Entertainment unless Sony said otherwise

I think you actually need to fully understand that Guerrilla games is owned by Sony, they do not act independently.

"Sony wasn't involved in that at all, GG did that all on their own without telling anyone."

Christopher, you prolly new to the gaming industry and you have no idea what you have written. You didnt know that GG is owned by Sony, Any move or deal they make Sony should know and Approve it .. Kojima didnt make a deal with GG , he made it with Sony and Kojima tried almost all the 1st party game engines and decided to work on Decima.

mkis0072708d ago (Edited 2708d ago )

Hes the mod man XD. Guerrilla handing the code over was unexpected; no other studio he visited did that.

Deadpooled2708d ago

"Christopher, you prolly new to the gaming industry"

He's one of the mods of N4G!

Ceaser98573612708d ago (Edited 2708d ago )

"He's one of the mods of N4G!"

lmao!! thats hard to believe since he said Sony wasn't involved in that all and GG does things on their own without telling anyone ... First party are controlled by Sony/MS/Ninty and only Independent studio does things on their own.. Thats how it works..

Well actually GG cant just hand over anything IF Sony objects... It always has to go through Sony first and then if GG has some objection Sony should respect that... GG cant just go and say work with our engine if Sony doesn't approve.. Both GG and Sony agreed and the deal happened..

The market for games like this is too over saturated to make a dent in other established games' player counts. Trying to start all over with a whole new multiplayer meta and grinding to get better is not feasible when there's already a ton of similar games that have come out before it.
