PS4 Exclusive The Last Guardian Gets New Gameplay Video and Trico Is a Giant Puppy I Want to Pet

The Last Guardian is just a few days away from its long (long, long, looong) awaited release, and today the Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu hosted a livestream on Nico Nico showcasing about nine minutes of gameplay.

Trico's animations are really convincing, and its AI in how it reacts to the boy and its surroundings are so complex and hugely impressive. This stuff could not have been achieved on the PS3 for sure. The wait has been worth it.

Kofi has the game early, and my god, it's so beautiful: https://twitter.com/PressSt...

I just hope the platforming isn't the same old same old. I'd like a challenge and not an almost on-rails experience in which you always feel safe. Crossing on a rope like that should feel dangerous and when it breaks, it's like, the little boy will just grab it a one hand...ugh!

It is beautiful though!

I think it's a really obsolescent game design. It's something between Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, yes, something between two PS2-Games... I mean, Ico and Sotc were masterpieces, but please don't give Ueda a free pass because of that.

Silly gameAr2736d ago

Have you played the game? Do you know or see something other people don't, or are you being negative just to be negative? I think it looks breathtaking, and the gameplay and the animations look fluid and almost lifelike. Don't be so quick to write something off that could just as well be a masterpiece just like the games before it.

bnaked2736d ago

I just don't expect a masterpiece. I've seen the two gameplay trailers and i think the game design is outdated, that's all.

Silly gameAr2736d ago

@bnaked.

Well, that's your opinion and I respect it, but just don't agree. It looks like something this gen has been missing to me.

Pastorfuzz2736d ago

Exactly. When ICO came out there was talk about it not being any good either. I ended up playing a friends copy and I'm glad I did. What a great game. I'm grabbing this also.

@Pastorfuzz
When Ico came out, it was revolutionary, there weren't any games out there with that kind of pacing, atmosphere and minimalistic game design, but nowadays there are so many great indies with a similar approach, that another Ico wouldn't be that special anymore.

I've played 15, and I wouldn't consider any of those underrated TBH. Some of them are pretty high rated.

banger88171d ago

That's amazing, Gamingbolt actually put all 15 games on the same page.

shinoff2183170d ago

I. Not seeing anything on that list underrated. I never played concrete genie, the ASTRO vr,and one other but I forgot the name already. Nothing on there was underrated at all imo.

persona4chie170d ago

There’s only 4 of those games I never played, and no most of those aren’t underrated.

The Last Guardian Is One of Gaming’s Most Beautiful Depictions of Friendship

Friendship is hard to depict accurately, but The Last Guardian does a good job of showing all its ups and downs through Trico and the boy.

Technical issues aside, this is easily one of my favorite games from last gen.

ClayRules2012855d ago (Edited 855d ago )

I couldn’t agree more. I’ll never forget the emotional experience I had with this game. After waiting all those years, and than to finally play it. It was a visual beauty, along with offering a story/friendship between the 2 characters that was unique and unforgettable. Far surpassed my expectations. A masterpiece!

Technical issues aside, never have I played anything quite like it!

Magog855d ago

I enjoyed the game but it started out too simple and easy. If the entire game was as intense and challenging as the last 20% it would have been a 10/10 experience.

EvertonFC855d ago

Great game, so underrated. One of my favourites and top 20 games of all time

Phoenix76855d ago

I managed to grab the collectors edition for £40 about a year after it released. Was an enjoyable game, but I had just finished Shadow of the colossus, and whilst I enjoyed it, it was not as good when compared.
