Capcom Vancouver explains the benefits of removing the timer in Dead Rising 4. They also said that it won't be Frank West's last adventure,

I'm not completely opposed to the removal of the timer. There are more important things that make Dead Rising unique.

explore the world. it worked well in dead rising one but now they have created a huge dense world full of fun things to find and do and i want to be able to explore that world without being on a timer that said it would have been nice to have the option without buying dlc

There isn't going to be much to do in the world outside of killing zombies. This isn't a Rockstar or Bethesda game. You'll most likely get 10-20 hours of gameplay before you get sick of the game and trade it in.

Dead Rising 3 world was pretty bad as well. So They don't have a good track record...

I'll always be a zombie lover. I was in heaven during the Zombie resurgence in film and games. And we got some AWESOME games in the genre. "Left for Dead" and "Last of Us" being the crown jewels.

Zombies will never get old. It quiets down for a while, but it always comes back

I could never beat the first game because my save right before the stupid bomb in the parking garage mission had only enough time on the timer for me to run to the mission start and not enough to collect food/weapons.

The main benefit being that can be resold back to consumers. I feel the limited time should have been optional but not removed entirely.

I just want this game to run over 20fps and not go into single digits with all dem zombies on the screen.

I have come to terms that 30fps isnt going to happen especially this type of game that's very cpu heavy

The timer gave the game a sense of urgency and forced you to prioritize. I liked it.

You do know you can just explore right? Just don't do any of the quests. That is no real excuse. Same with the just have fun part. You don't have to do the quests or anything. Its all optional.

I find it funny how all these casuals are happy to take away the timer. The franchise was known for it. The game was suppose to be replayed over and over again until you get everything done. That's what made it fun. Now its just Saints Row with zombies...

Oh, the benefits are perfectly understandable, now, that doesn't at all excuse that you guys have no understanding that Dead Rising is supposed to be an experience full of tension. You are supposed to be on the clock, zombies are supposed to be slowing you down and you are supposed to feel angry and irritated over it because zombie outbreak is a extreme situation, not a fun ride.
But hey, what can you expect from people who directed a bunch or casual sport games before developing Dead Rising 4, eh ?

I like dead rising 4 so far, even some changes: i'm glad that escorting is gone, food as an insta-pick up is fine for me, if the timer is useless story-wise well i don't mind his absence.. Also i don't care about the new VA.
My only complaint so far is for the maniacs: they say the're fitting in the game world and that's fine because they're like DR 2 psychos pratically, i just don't want them be just random encounters with no intro/outro cutscenes, i hope not. Psychopats makes the 50% of a dead rising game imho, if they ruin them the game is no more a D1 purchase
