SGW3 Dev: Our Insights Prove the Power of PS4 Pro; We'll Have HDR & MultiGPU Support, but no DX12

CI Games said that the PS4 Pro was built for 4K gaming and their experience with it proves the hardware's power.

They also confirmed many technical details of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, such as HDR support on PS4 and PC, multiGPU support (but no DX12) on PC and the target resolution/frame rate for the basic PS4 and Xbox One versions.

I'm surprised they're not implementing HDR into the Xbox One (S) version.

EmmaMatthews2744d ago

Yeah, seems like a strange move :|

Alexious2744d ago

Agreed, I will have to ask them if it was just a mistake in the answer.

GNCFLYER2744d ago

Why no HDR on xbox?

Does implementing it take more resources?

Serious quesrion anyone?

MasterCornholio2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

I heard that it does but not much more.

I don't think it's because of that.

cellfluid2744d ago

Might be for hardware reasons

GNCFLYER2744d ago

I guess, probably?

Without knowing I thought hdr was just more colors and assumed it wasn't taxing on hardware.

bixxel2744d ago

The one thing I'd want is optimization.. And realism.

If they think it's so powerful, I expect that they'll be able to make the game run well at native 4K. But it's a pipe dream

_LarZen_2744d ago

They could. But at a price of graphical effects, assets, AI etc... Hopefully they can manage 1800p. But even 1400p is a big jump in image quality. Especially in combination with HDR.

Alexious2744d ago

Yeah, HDR is definitely a big visual leap. I can't wait for monitor manufacturers to release some...

snoopgg2744d ago

I guess you will be playing on xboxs. I guess that is a pipe dream for anything 4k also.

ccgr2744d ago

Can't wait to see how it performs

BigGamersSmallTalk2744d ago

Why are developers ignoring the Xbox One S and HDR? Seems weird.

MasterCornholio2744d ago

Maybe it's a hardware issue?

Not saying the Xbox One S can't support HDR (it does) but maybe the HDR solution they are using isn't compatible with that system.

I mean that's really the only reason i can think of.

BigGamersSmallTalk2744d ago

It's not a hardware issue, it has HDR 10. I mean if developers are patching a version of HDR into the old PS4, they surely can do it on the Xbox One S. Games like Forza Horizon 3, Gears 4 and Deus Ex really pop with HDR on Xbox One S.

MasterCornholio2743d ago

"If developers are patching a version of HDR into the old PS4, they surely can do it on the Xbox One S."

So your claiming that it's intentional?

BigGamersSmallTalk2743d ago

Well it's pretty obvious, and Sony has already said developers will continue to cater to them as market leaders. However, after speaking directly to a developer, the Xbox One S HDR is truer HDR and needs DX 12, while the PS4 Pro uses more of a filter type of HDR. So basically explains this.

MasterCornholio2743d ago (Edited 2743d ago )

So now your claiming that the PS4 Pro uses fake HDR.

Edit: Just checked and the PS4 Pro uses HDR10 just like the Xbox One S and PS4. The only one that's limited is the original Xbox One.

Pathogenic2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

I honestly think it could be due to hardware limitations. I also want to add that Directx 12 is not being utilized either for some unknown reason and I would like that to be addressed as well. Something is not adding up about this and honestly I'd rather them delay it to add Xbox One HDR and Directx 12 so everyone can enjoy this game on they're specific platform with maxed out settings.

LamerTamer2744d ago (Edited 2744d ago )

Also add better effects and framerate in 1080p mode. Sure downsampling looks decent, like good AA, but it is a waste of resources that could be better used on other things at 1080p.

All of this 4K this and 4K that, a bump in res from 1080p is not as noticeable as other things.

MRMagoo1232743d ago

all dx12 does is make games run worse so why even care ??

Ravenor2743d ago

The same could be said of DX10 vs DX9, DX11 wasn't as egregious but it still came with a performance hit vs DX9/10 when it launched.

The things that DX12 is doing on a hardware level is something you want to see in more titles. Efficiency comes with experience, it's not a light switch.

Here are seven games benchmarked with and without the Denuvo anti-tamper tech

DSOGaming writes: "As we’ve already showcased, Denuvo can actually decrease the performance in games that are CPU-bound. On the other hand, this anti-tamper tech has no meaningful performance hit in games that are GPU-bound. And yesterday, YouTube’s ‘Overlord’ a pretty informative video in which they benchmarked seven games with and without the Denuvo anti-tamper tech."

CI Games completely removes Denuvo from Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, does not improve performance at all

DSOGaming writes: "In an interesting turn of events, CI Games completely removed Denuvo from Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3. Now as you may be aware, a lot of gamers still believe that Denuvo introduces a big performance hit in games, even though we’ve already seen a number of Denuvo-powered titles performing extremely well. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Injustice 2, Mad Max and DOOM are four great examples. As such, we’ve decided to re-test the latest Denuvo-free version of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3."
