Yes and no, m rating doesn't make it hardcore but a hardcore system needs a variety of game types and age ranges

Dude, we've got 13 year olds playing, and in some cases streaming, games as M-rated and "mature" as Dead Space, and mature adults with jobs and families playing, and in some cases streaming, games as E-rated and "kiddy" as Yoshi's Wolly World.
At this point, I think we can safely say that age ranges on titles don't really mean jack anymore.
Every game is basically for every gamer at this point; it just depends on the tastes of said gamer.

Well the Zelda delay is still a rumor as far as I know so until there is confirmation why go into a tizzy? Also even if it is delayed, WHO CARES? I'd much rather have a game that works than a broken game with a 42gb day 1 patch. Look at FFXV, the previews before the September delay were saying frame rate is bad. Fast forward to Judgement Disc and the game is running smooth as butter....but yeah it's Nintendo so let's have a fit and scream DOOOOOOM.

Zelda was never given a release month. It has always been 2017. People just ASSUMED it was March. The game could release in Dec 2017 and it still would not be "delayed" because no date was ever given.

I want it to come in March as much as the next guy but it is annoying to see people talk about delays that do not exist. In reality the game has only been delayed twice.

Well considering it was first stated to come out in 2015 I don't know how you can say it's always been a 2017 release. Then in an interview they said it would be 2016, then delayed to 2017.

They showed it off on WiiU at E3 like it was almost ready. They have stated it would release on both consoles at the same time. Yes it's an assumption that it would be a release title but it's not far fetched and still over a year later than originally projected.

Seeing how I mentioned that it was delayed twice, it should be obvious that I was refering to 2015 and 2016 being those two delays as they are the only ones to exist.

When I say always 2017, I am refering to when 2017 was actually announced onward. My point was that no month was given so any month in 2017 is technically not a delay at this point. I suppose I could have worded that better.

I mentioned this to a nintendo fan recently. They disagreed and seem to think zelda was a launch title. To date there is not a single launch game confirmed for switch. Nothing will be confirmed until January.
For me i bought a wii u day 1 and nintendo delayed pretty much every anounced game. I want to see guaranteed release dates for a long list of games before i consider ordering this device.

How so? The game is also being released on Wii U. The game isn't a good enough reason to buy a Switch if you already have a Wii U. There needs to be an exclusive reason to buy the Switch, and that is clearly the Mario game.

I know this comment is on the late side to the point of being potentially pointless, but the Wii U didn't sell a ton and most people are going to be looking to pick up a Switch over Wii U to play the new Zelda on. It may not be a huge differentiator for you and me (assuming by your statement you are also a Wii U owner), but there are plenty of people where this is a big deal and they won't buy into the console until Zelda launches. The longer the install base takes to show up, the more apparent risk there are to developers looking to support it.

They should delay the Switch if Zelda is not ready. A new Mario & Smash Brothers & Mario Kart remasters are not enough. I know I would not spend $60 on the same Mario Kart & Smash Brothers games just with added DLC & if Mario is the only big new game I might as well skip the Switch at launch

Why? It's not like this gen had groundbreaking launch titles. Consoles rarely do. A new traditional Mario game is big enougg as it is. Why blow their load all at once? Zelda is still projected to come in 2017. Get the initial sales from Mario and keep people invested in the console with a slightly later Zelda release.

So what happens in a few months when people get bored of Mario ? They will be waiting another few months or more for Zelda. This will be bad for the long term. Why would people buy third party games on The Switch when they likely have those games on other systems already ? This will be a long term problem it is not blowing your load it is keeping people interested in playing The Switch. This is making the same mistakes again they made with the Wii U

Smash, kart will be free if already bought it digitally and ridiculously cheap if trade in your physical copy. New splatoon will be built in. Mario looking to be great, also skyrim, retro has a new game, aswell as EA and whatever else they surprise us with on the 12th Jan.

To be fair I'm looking forward to the new Mario kart more than anythin, new characters, new karts, new levels, a real battle mode. There's plenty to keep me occupied for a couple months if Zelda ain't released at launch.

In response to your other comment, do you really believe that no 3rd party games will be made after march 2017? 3rd party games are made all year round, why would u think they would just randomly stop making games after march?

Smash & Kart being free if you purchased them digitally previously does not really make sense since they are using Cartridges for the Switch games

I'm going to exchange my xbone and games for the switch just to be sure I can get every launch game and a couple of controllers as Xbox will be irrelevant once the switch comes out. Can't wait.

I agree. Almost every wii u Game was delayed. This meant people had little reason to buy a wii u if the launch games failed to appeal to them. This in turn impacted console sales with doom and gloom news very early on. The doom and gloom and low sales affected consumer sentiment and further fed into low sales, with a lack of new releases in the first 2 years evident. The wii u failed early due to this. Switch needs regular game releases and minimal delays to combat this. If not and it sees game delays and a lack of game releases this thing will flop more than an aged pair of breasts or an old man's ball sack.

I know it's frustrating because of the delays but they don't need a Zelda at launch. Having a new console is generally hype enough - especially as this could be breaking new ground for "home consoles". Especially alongside a big launch IP like a traditional Mario game. Don't go guns blazing at once and then run out of bullets. They can easily space out their big IPs, ie Mario (launch), Splatoon (launch), Zelda, Pokémon, etc etc.

Plus Zelda will also be a Wii U title. So spacing out a little time for release after Switch launches will hopefully give people more time to jump aboard the hype train of owning the Switch first - rather than picking up a Wii U release instead. Plus Zelda would overshadow the other releases.

Initial launch sales isn't everything. But their projections should be fine. A Mario game is still big and the handheld features make it interesting. For me personally, the console itself has more hype than the Zelda. Just trying it out will be interesting.

But nonetheless, they'll also have themselves to blame if their console collects dust for lack of support (ie Wii & Wii U)

Hardly lack of content, switch is most likely to have the best launch line up any console has ever had, they have learnt from their mistakes on the Wii u.

I'm glad your out though cause I know it's gonna sell out like hot cakes, so gives me more chance of me getting my hands on one on launch day.

How is not having Zelda at launch a disaster when we don't even know what the rest of the lunch line-up will be? It would be one thing if all we got at launch was a 2D Mario, a tech demo like NintendoLand, and a couple of late ports like the Wii U did. But it is a completely different thing if the Switch launches with a 3D Mario, Splatoon, portable Skyrim, Mario Kart, and all the other 3rd party support games and other ports that have already been confirmed, hinted at, or rumored to be coming. Zelda not being at launch wouldn't be a good thing by any means, but there should be plenty of games for people to play and get excited for at or near launch to tide people over until Zelda does come out. It might actually be good to give Skyrim a chance since I imagine a lot of people would rather play Zelda instead if they had to make a choice.

People need to stop with the unsubstantiated rumors. Its actually worse now. The reality is Nintendo has confirmed nothing other then the Switch being released in March. Doesn't mean Zelda is delayed by default. It wasn't long ago that people said the NX now called Switch was delayed before Nintendo said otherwise in late October. Long story short stop focusing on attention whore bloggers male and female alike and wait for Nintendo and other companies to confirm their games on the Switch before we say what NS games are fake, delayed or pushed up.

To be honest what i want out of the Switch is some great Snes revivals, i want to see Pilot Wings, Star Fox, the 3D Mario, and a bunch of others.. without gimmicks and greatly expanded.

Pilot Wings on the 3DS was quite good but it was lacking a bit in content, i didn't feel it was as fleshed out as it could have been. Hell I'd be happy if Sega revived Streets of Rage in 2.5D and brought it to the Switch, would love a new Desert Strike or something similar, Road Rash etc..

I have no idea why people automatically dismiss Nintendo.. To me, the wii was worse than the wii u.. I still enjoyed it but not as much.. Every console they make has excellent software.. Just because they dont all have blood and gore doesnt make them bad games.. Having the best graphics doesnt mean the best games.. I hope they can shake off that stigma they have but i must say, they did it to themselves.. They need a first party dev team to make games for that crowd seeking mature titles.. I hope to see fire emblem back on home consoles and maybe create a sequel to earthbound..
