Dishonored 2 Has A 9GB Day One Patch

We can now reveal that Bethesda’s upcoming Dishonored 2 has a 9gb day one patch, on Xbox One at least. More recently, we’ve definitely seen a resurgence in huge day one patches.

It has the same patch on ps4 as well for anyone that was wondering. Game is amazing though loving it so far even though i'm not too far making sure i don't miss anything.

moegooner882727d ago

Could you please let us know how is the story and performance?

supersonicjerry2727d ago

performanace wise its really good so far besides one section when you're heading to the second mission but it's just like a cut scene the frames drop really hard. In combat the fps is solid. So far the story is good i was looking at the trophies and a few people already beat the game as emily. you can check my trophy list by searching up my psn: supersonicjerry

Errorist762727d ago

Luckily PS4 does download all of that in the background.

MeteorPanda2727d ago

wow. do you think down the line they will re release the disc with no patch? Most companies are working on games even after it goes gold. suck it up pricness

pompombrum2727d ago (Edited 2727d ago )

Patching errors after the game has gone gold is one thing but 9gb worth of errors? Blows my mind how people can consider this acceptable for day one patches.

kevnb2727d ago

9 gb patch doesn't mean they changed a ton of stuff, they probably had to recompile the code and a large chunk of it changed slightly.

Utalkin2me2727d ago

@aiBreeze

Just cause it 9 gigs doesn't mean all of it is errors. Alot of times you have to recompile the same data.

nitus102727d ago

It depends on how the developers go about implementing patches. As an example, I run a Linux operating system distribution (Fedora 24) and most updates are in the form of "deltas" which only contain the parts of the updates that need updating.this on average results in anything from 50% to 95% saving for each update compared to sending the full suite of packages every time there is an update. https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

What is surprising is Microsoft with Windows XP were the first to implement the "delta" concept although for Windows 10 they seem to have forgotten how to go about doing it especially with the latest update of Windows 10. To their credit, Microsoft is bringing "delta updates" back again but calling it by a different name (probably because it is not "hip" enough).

rocketpanda2727d ago

Stupid comments like yours justifies companies releasing unfinished buggy games and with Bethesda changing how they handle review game copies doesn't make them look good regardless how good their IPs might be.

Justify a day one 9gb patch. It's a patch.....9gb....what the hell are they patching with that size? Nothing wrong with patching a game on release to fix crucial issues. Every time you pop a new game into a console these days there is usually some patch to install, annoying when you just bought it and even worth when the size is huge.

Call people princess all you want, consumers can pick and choose not to buy something they find not to their liking and a terrible industry practice.

2727d ago
MeteorPanda2727d ago

@aiBreeze it's more often than not because time restraints, the game HAS to go gold regardless of inner department errors and problems. With games needing bigger studios and more time to create theres bound to be unforseen issues. considering dishonored 1 has the worst texture mapping l've ever seen on ps3 l am happy they are polishing this off. Theres no tutorial for making a game, each company works out their own workflow.

Stop pre ordering games. You're the reason the industry is fuc***

slappy5082727d ago

Although I didnt preorder this because of their embargo policy, I agree with you and am now put off from buying this. People who have an internet connection faster than 4mbps probably wont sympathise but this will take me a whole day to download this patch, thats still why I buy retail games. Maybe if the patch was 2GB or so that would be more understandable. I mean Titanfall 2 had a patch of 90mbs FFS, and that is multiplayer, this is singleplayer so why does it have to be so big? So another red flag is raised.

quent2727d ago

I agree and I'm in the same boat, the best I can hope for is to wait for a goty or similar edition of the game and buy it then when its properly patched and working , its what I did with Bloodborne

1nsomniac2727d ago (Edited 2727d ago )

Amazon offered me a pre-order of this for £20 along with a free copy of TLOU. Sounded to good to be true so I contacted them. Got a rep & a manager to confirm the deal. They even explained that if I bought it they would ship Dishonored 2 today then later send me a free digital download code for TLOU later on dispatch of my PS4Pro.

After ordering it I got sent an email saying TLOU was actually a typo & I was no longer getting it. So I sent them the transcript were they confirmed I would get it if I placed the order. Advising that if they didn't fulfil it then it had been mis-sold to me & I wanted the order cancelled. They replied saying they were sorry for the miscommunication of TLOU but were unbelievably not going to cancel the order!

I then had to go back & tell them that was illegal & they would have to cancel the order as it was misrepresentation.

I couldn't believe how dodgy that was. Wonder how many people they've caught out with that? What annoyed me the most was the repeated broken English emails they kept sending me that didn't make any sense at all & were full of grammatical errors. The service was not only illegal but truly shocking!

Perjoss2727d ago

I got the exact same email and to be honest it was quite obvious that it was a typo, there were codes in the email for Dishonored 2 and CoD but no code for TLoU.

1nsomniac2727d ago

That's why I contacted them but like I said, a rep & a manager both confirmed & explained how TLOU code would be issued to me.

Holy crap, R&C Rift Apart is a huge score for those who haven't played it! It was so good.

just_looken352d ago

i agree though I don't have a ps5 but i will activate this when the prices get out of apple range.

outsider1624352d ago

Well lets hope its soon, because you never know when the game will leave psplus.

DivineHand125352d ago

I don't think it is fair to compare the PS5 to apple prices since an iphone hasn't been at $499 since the original iphone launched.

One thing I can say at your benefit though is that in gaming then longer you wait to buy, the better the deal, though if you wait too long your backlog will get out of control.

LordoftheCritics352d ago

Rift Apart is the best chill game I've played this gen.

System seller on PS Plus is a huge win.

roadkillers352d ago

I think you can redeem over your phone, no? When you get a PS5 you will have games.

MasterChief3624352d ago

A huge score for those of us that didn't just buy it literally one day ago and it's on the way now :'(
But I guess it's good to own it, as well! And I don't think I want to get PlayStation Plus right now, so it's not a huge loss. But it is still a little saddening.

I got my PS5 today, actually! Been wanting to play Rift Apart for so long. And I played Astro's Playroom at a friend's house, and that was when I was like, "I NEED THIS." Such a fun little game with so many wonderful references to Playstation stuff!

Anyways.

potatoseal352d ago

You could just re-sell your copy that is coming in the mail. But it's up to you. Rift Apart is so damn good. It blew my mind how good it looks and plays.

Dirty_Lemons352d ago (Edited 352d ago )

I hope you love it, dude. Nothing beats a shiny new console, and the PS5 is 👌 May I recommend Returnal, challenging but not Soulsborne-level challenging, and extremely good making use of those new haptics you're going to be playing around with.

Tapani352d ago

Hey I'm a relatively new PS5 owner here, but how does this new PS Plus system work? So if I go in at the Premium level for a month, it would mean I can play Horizon 2 and Ratchet & Clank just like that, right?

closed_account352d ago

Yea, you don't even need to sub Premium if those are the 2 games you're after, they're included on PS Plus Extra.

Premium just adds the legacy library of PS1, PS2, PS3 titles that are on the service.

Played and platinumed Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart at launch. Loved it so much. 9/10

Am I going to download and play Bus Simulator 21? You bet :-D

potatoseal353d ago

Was just thinking I wish Bus Simulator was PSVR 2 compatible. Imagine looking over your shoulder at the passengers you pick up? Haha

*turns head around while driving*

"Shut the Fk up back there!!!! You want me to crash the bus?!?!?!?!!"

Davros69352d ago

haha, you sound like an Aussie

MrNinosan352d ago

Have to download it as well. Is it compatible with wheel?

potatoseal352d ago

Yeah apparently it's compatible with a fair few wheels. Game has been out a while.

just_looken352d ago

Yeah the vr experience on playstation continues to be crap compared to pc sadly.

Bus sim 21 vr on pc
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

And do do that well its on pc duh crap $700 console should do vr on alot more than select titles

potatoseal352d ago

PS VR2 is actually really awesome man. I have one. It's only new, so maybe I will wait for Bus Simulator 21 to get a VR update then. Judging by that video, the game looks fun in VR

just_looken352d ago

I doubt it will look at psvr 1

Dandalandan117352d ago

Will definitely download Bus Simulator as well.
My son will surely have a blast with it.

meanmallard353d ago

PS Plus IS the best gaming subscription.

S2Killinit353d ago

It really is the best way to go.

crazyCoconuts353d ago

For a lot cheaper than the other guys even

PhillyDonJawn353d ago

102 games aww that's cute 🤭

Petebloodyonion352d ago

Well technically the best deal remains by far EPIC games free offering since well it's free but aside that it's a hell of deal :)

andy85352d ago

Its funny, a few months ago this would have got so many down votes but it probably is now, the Extra/Deluxe service is flourishing. Even a day one game this month is added

andy85352d ago

@phillyDonJawn that's games added, not total. PS sub has more games on it than Gamepass but keep reaching 😂

potatoseal352d ago

@ PhillyDon, lol there are something like 534 games on PS Plus Extra right now. That is not including PS Plus Premium

+ Show (5) more repliesLast reply 352d ago
ModsDoBetter353d ago

Seriously didn’t even realise how good the PS offering was.

I’m on the highest tier but the only things I gravitate toward are the two monthly games.

It was only recently that I found how to properly browse the PS+ section on the dashboard and there’s a ridiculous amount of high quality content on there.

I own a good amount of them either physical or digital but still a great selection.

Crows90353d ago (Edited 353d ago )

Yup. Ps extra is cheaper than gamepass ultimate as well...until those quality Xbox 1st party start actually kicking in ps+ is the most affordable and highest quality service.

I'll be trying out legion and humanity for sure.

MasterChief3624352d ago

So how does it work? Are these all available now? Or is it a rotation system? I literally only got my PS5 today and am a bit of a newb of this console generation.

potatoseal352d ago (Edited 352d ago )

These are all available right now I'm pretty sure. But I will post the actual lists of games. You will know in advance if anything was to be taken off this list too. A good time in advance.

PS Plus Essential (lowest price) - is the normal PS Plus and you get games every month. Here are the games for this month...
https://www.pushsquare.com/...

PS Plus Extra (mid price) - Is same as essential, BUT has all these extra games from this list, except for the PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games, (there aren't that many). More releasing every month. Here is all the games from PS Plus Extra
https://www.pushsquare.com/...

PS Plus Premium - same as essential and extra. But has all the PS1 and PS2 and PS3 and PSP games. More games releasing every month. Here is the list of games from this one...
https://www.pushsquare.com/...

Glad you got a PS5. It's a good investment. So much to play and so much to come. Have fun man

Ps5conehead352d ago

These are available may 16th

meanmallard353d ago

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin Is fantastic, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Even though you have never heard of it it went on to sell well over a million copies.

meanmallard353d ago

If even one person reads this and plays it and has half as much fun as I did I'll be super happy.

The Stealth Genre Is Dying For A New Age Of Action Titles

With the overarching rise of popularity of many action titles, the stealth genre has taken a hit, both in quality and quantity.

banger88377d ago

I always hated stealth in games. There is nothing worse for me than forced stealth sections where being discovered equals instant failure.

blackblades377d ago

I like stealth dishonored and thief but at least they have a option for people that don't.

TheEnigma313376d ago

I love stealth games. But there are a few games that let you choose how to handle those situation. TLoU was great at. that.

P_Bomb376d ago

Stealth can be so satisfying when done right. You just gotta, well, do it right!

anast376d ago

It seems like "every" game has a stealth section and most games have the option. It has been assimilated not killed.

MIDGETonSTILTS17376d ago

I’m surprised more MGSV mechanics aren’t copied to improve other stealth games.

Quick dive is huge.

Snookies12375d ago

Yeah, as much as I didn't like that MGS V's focus was on gameplay over story. I do have to admit that the gameplay and mechanics are immaculate.

We Happy Few via Gearbox has similar gameplay as well (Although I can't recommend it)
