I played the Pro last night Screenshots do not tell the story It is a night and Day difference from OG PS4 and Xbox S It is really hard to go back to OG Ps4. Thankfully mine will be here Thursday.

Yeah, they do. Uncharted 4 already has such very clean image quality I can only imagine how insanely clean it's going to be with downsampling. I hope they have improved the shadow quality though. That was always the weakest aspect of the graphics to my eyes. Does anyone know if they've improved the shadows or any other aspect of the graphics aside from the resolution/downsampling?

OK GAWL, I'LL BUY IT. I was going to hold off, but meh, think I'll just get it instead. Anybody know about the harddrive? Can I just swap the HDD from my vanilla and install it into the pro? I really don't want to re-download 1.5 TB worth of games...

You can't just swap the HDD. It'll ask you to reformat as soon as you boot the console. You're going to have to do the back-up/restore process if you want to swap HDDs.

looks great, seems that people who tried it at london were very immpressed and the gameplay footages look great as well (although that commpression is annoying), also with the console already running out in amazon UK seems to sign that it would do great sales wise.

I imagine people will disagree with me, but I have major issues with the idea of dropping £300 mid way through a console generation for what feels like a "slight" improvement.

That goes for both the pro & Scorpio.

I know they've stated that they won't start making games that only work on these new consoles, but that's another issue.

Their options are now abandon those who bought a console this gen or waste these more powerful consoles by not making games to take advantage of the hardware :/

Sure these games have received patches, but what about new games? Are developers going to focus on these mid gen upgrades and inadvertently cut corners on the regular versions?

In all I'm just worried it's going to go the way of Sega in the 90s with like 4 different variations of consoles at once, all of which suffered because of it.

If you already have a PS4 and plan to sell it towards the Pro, you'll be dropping quite a bit less than £350.

What do you mean by abandon? When did Microsoft and Sony say they were no longer supporting the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? Maybe you should look up with the actual word abandon actually means.

Also where on Earth did you hear upgrading a game means they're cutting corners on the previous version? My god do you even know what upgrade actually means?

I dont know yet how more improved these games are over the PS4 version. I can however say that the Scorpio and Xbox One difference will be more noticeable than PS4 and PS4 Pro.

Erm, what? Sega had 4 different versions of a console during the '90s? You mean the Genesis and? The 32X, which was an add-on not a standalone console, and? I'm not sure I'm following you here.

Anyway I understand how you must feel, but when you take into consideration the fact that in order to do real native 4K on AAA titles (and only @ 30fps at that) some say it's going to take at least 12GB of VRAM and an at least 12 TFLOPS GPU, I really don't think Sony or Microsoft are going to be able to deliver a console like that at a commercially viable pricepoint (=399$/€) in the short term. When you also factor in all the games announced for this gen that haven't released yet and are probably still very far off (Final Fantasy VII Remake, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Spiderman, God of War, Hitman the complete game, etc.), it's possible we're actually not even mid-gen yet, don't you think?

We still have some developers making new games for the 360/PS3, holding back the quality of this gens versions.

And with these consoles being capable of much more, how long do you really think it's going to be before people start clamouring for PS Pro/Scorpio exclusives?

If they do they risk pissing off the majority of their fanbase.

If they don't the console becomes a giant missed opportunity.

With the Sega comparison I was referring to the Mega Drive and It's two add-ons (CD & 32x) Both of which had their own exclusive library of Games.

At the same time the Master System was still recieving ports and then they dumped the Saturn on us for 2 years before abandoning it!

Am I the only who looks at these comparison pictures and can't actually see my difference between them?

I find this all the time with articles like this.

I'd imagine the only way to truly tell is seeing the real thing up on your big tv. Got my pro pre ordered and am looking forward to rock solid frame rates for games like fallout, the witcher and unity, something that the current model can't do sadly.

Unfortunately, unless the developers create a patch for Pro enhancements, games will run just as they do on the regular PS4. The Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Unity will run and look the same as they do on the regular PS4. This is because those games aren't getting patched and Sony has decided that the Pro will only use half the GPU cores and will downclock to match the regular PS4 specs any time you are playing a PS4 game that doesn't have a Pro mode.

I'm kind of bummed about that aspect. I hope Sony will reconsider and later change this.

I didn't know skyrim was getting the ps4pro update.. I seen a few list and didn't see it in there. Was one of the reasons I was holding back. Wish they would optimize it for 60fps.

They look nice. Doubt id see much difference on my tv tho. Its a 7 year old 1080p Plasma.

Im really not fussed though personally. Graphics keep improving but I find games keep getting worse. Id rather there was more focus on the games themselves. Or atleast equal focus.

Personally its the idea of games on 1080p on pro that excite me, improved framrates or improved visuals with atleast lock framerates. as long as they can hit those standards it'd be great. this gen has been quite flexible on framerates, these consoles were under powered the moment they came out of the gates.
