A sequel would be great. I really think the universe they created has a lot of potential, and I also think The Order 1886 wasn't nearly as bad as it was made out to be (personally I really enjoyed it).

Nitrowolf22774d ago (Edited 2774d ago )

there needs to be more for this series, it's has a huge potential IMO to be the next Uncharted style game. All it needs is a lot more gameplay, and for the live of God it doesn't need to go open world.
I really think they hit the gameplay on the head, along with everything elae. It just had to little segments for gameplay
Remember, the 1st Uncharted wasn't that huge of title until 2 came around.

nveenio2773d ago

This game was a classic case of something that could be considerably improved in a sequel, like what happened between Uncharted 1 & 2. When they recently announced they're doing a VR game, however, I pretty much gave up on them. It's almost like they stuck their tails between their legs and ran away from "big" development. And all because of a bad turn with internet trolls.

Blu3_Berry2774d ago

I personally enjoyed it as well and it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone said it was. It got far to more flack then deserved. Like you said the universe has lots of potential. But with the amount of hate they (Sony and the developers) could simply look at it like "oh they absolutely hated the game, I guess we should move onto another IP and drop this one" so like it wouldn't surprise me if they actually did respond that way. But I am glad this is still up in the air. In terms of a sequel I don't think we will get another one until the end of the playstation 4 cycle if I'm honest. There must've been a shitstorm behind doors that we don't know about with Sony and the developers.

Lukejrl2774d ago

How it ended pissed me off. Piss me right off. otherwise it was fun

ziggurcat2774d ago

@luke:

"How it ended pissed me off..."

its ending was clearly a set-up for the next game, I think they even said before the game launched that they intended it to be a triology. understanding that, there should be no reason to be upset with the ending. I also think that people who complained about the lack of explanation of some of the background story also missed the point of the game being the first part of a series. no series of any movie or TV show reveals everything in the first episode/installment - there'd be no point in continuing the series if they showed all of their cards right away.

The 10th Rider2774d ago

@ziggurcat,

There's other reasons than the story that people could be upset at the ending. Lukejrl may have simply been upset that the final boss was basically a quicktime event, and a repeat of the earlier werewolf fight. Whether anyone likes the game or not, there's no denying that was a pretty lame boss to end with.

rainslacker2773d ago

I felt the game itself was pretty good. It just felt unfinished in many parts. Game play was solid though, if not lacking in variety.

The story and setting/characters/etc all should continue on. It would be a shame to have such a promising world abandoned due to the hate it got initially.

coolbeans2773d ago

@ziggurcat

"its ending was clearly a set-up for the next game, I think they even said before the game launched that they intended it to be a triology. understanding that, there should be no reason to be upset with the ending."

That's a godawful excuse to the point of corporate apologia. Having a trilogy in mind doesn't mean you get to use your first game purely as a means establishing everything w/out any sense of finality. Fellowship of the Ring, A New Hope, etc. These were planned out as trilogies too yet the first entries were structured in a way to feel complete while leaving audiences hopeful for the future. If you look at all the plot threads left unanswered by the end of The Order, there's a clear disparity between those good examples I previously mentioned and The Order.

kneon2773d ago

@coolbeans

The Lord of the Rings was intended to be published as one volume, it was the publisher that decided to split it up.

Red_Renegade2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

there was finality, coolbeans. galahad's role with the order was over. but he story wasn't done. that's what the ending set up.

well, you weren't supposed to know all that at the end. that's part of what makes it ready for a sequel. just cuz you wanted all that stuff doesn't mean it should be there.

coolbeans2773d ago (Edited 2773d ago )

@kneon

Alright. Still applicable to the Original Star Wars Trilogy and that central point of my first response still stands. You can't hand-wave a plethora of unanswered stuff away with "just pony up another $60 to get the full story." That's egregious.

@Red_Renegade

Sure, he's out of The Order. That's A part of the story. What about everything else? Lady Igraine, The Rebels, The Order, or the main antagonist of this story nowhere to be found during the past hour? There are many key elements still up in the air by the end to make it feel incomplete.

Kaneki-Ken2774d ago

I be happier, if they add multiplayer for the sequel.

jwillj2k42774d ago

The story was fantastic, the werewolf fighting and aggressive letterboxing was bad but that was it. Definitely deserves a sequel.

one2thr2773d ago

To be fair, the black bars in The Order that people thought were a cheap method used to increase visual fidelity even though the R@D has said they're actual active pixels used as an cinematic aesthetic, was true and a lot of people ate crow once Uncharted 4 has proven their (R@D) claim.

Even though it was a great looking game, Uncharted 4 ended up surpassing it in action, much larger play areas, environmental interactions, etc. while keeping a solid frame rate of 30fps at 1080p.

nucky642774d ago

I liked the order a lot. story has me hooked - I'm definitely wanting a sequel.

ThunderPulse2774d ago

Awesome game for the $10 I paid.

gammaray132774d ago

it was one of the best games i have ever played

The 10th Rider2774d ago (Edited 2774d ago )

It's got a 63 on metacritic, which really isn't that bad. Generally, anything over a 6 is playable and enjoyable, especially if it's your style of game. No Man's Sky, Destiny, and more recently Mafia 3 and ReCore similarly failed to live up to the expectations set up for them and get criticized quite a bit, despite all being decent or good games. People have a tendency these days to think anything below a 7 is unplayable. Really this gen there haven't been many games to make it above the mid-eighties, so something in the mid-sixties really isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

Nyxus2774d ago

That's true but aside from Metacritic people were also calling it 'terrible', 'awful' and things like that. But I know on the internet you're supposed to talk in hyperboles.

The 10th Rider2773d ago

Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at. Mafia 3 and ReCore are getting a lot of hate, as was No Man's Sky and Destiny (I guess you could even add Star Fox Zero in there, Mad Max as well.) Games are getting hyped like crazy and if a game isn't a 9/10 people consider it a flop.

rainslacker2773d ago

The game is 100% playable. In fact, it was about as bug free as you'll ever see a game nowadays. Enjoyable is subjective, but if one is into 3rd pershon shooters, then it was spot on in that department. It lacked some variety throughout, and the boss fights were pretty lame, but beyond that, the game play and story are more than 63. I think it got down rated due to it's length, and the fact that many parts seemed unfinished. What was there, outside the werewolf fights, was easily in the 75-85 range.

BlackOni2773d ago

That therein lies my issue with metacritic, or review scores in general. They're crippling the industry and steering people away from otherwise pleasant gaming experiences. If we used words to sum up our feelings rather than numbers, I think we'd see a shift in how, and what games people play.

kraenk122773d ago

It was a good game with a great story...the problem was it was just half a game....the story was just getting started. Can't wait for more from Sir Galahad and his pals.

S2Killinit2774d ago

Yes I would buy the sequel in a heart beat. Its one of my favorite games of the generation. I enjoyed it.

Majin-vegeta2774d ago

Yes the ending leavea so much for a sequel

Rimeskeem2774d ago

I actually thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough. The story there was great but there wasn't enough. Give me a Uncharted 4 length story with some replayability and you have a great game.

coolbeans2774d ago

That's to be expected when you don't get a proper ending though.

italiangamer2774d ago

I'm sure Sony will make a sequel to The Order, we wont see it soon but I'm confident that they will try again because this IP is seriously amazing. Oh and by the way some time ago, leaked screenshots from a PS4 exclusive in development were revealed showing a western style location and they were drawn in a similar way as the original The Order: 1886 artworks...seriousy hope they are from the sequel :D

rainslacker2773d ago

Nice find. I could see a lot of similarities in the art style...namely the little details to the materials that R@D was so keen on probably spending too much time with.

ninsigma2774d ago

I hope there's more. Enjoyed the first and want to see where the story goes. It was well written.

Istanbul based developer teases new game based on Turkish mythology

Shadowfall Studios have announced via X.com the studio is now an official PlayStation partner.

darksky13h ago

https://www.shadowfallstudi...

Looks like a Skyrim clone. Very interesting if done well.

Laskin12h ago

Since it’s Turkish, the “myth” is probably the Armenian holocaust :(

Laskin10h ago

Ask Turkish ppl and you’ll find out it’s not so dumb… almost all of them (91%) still deny it to this day.

Cacabunga8h ago

You are not so clever.. you are calling a war from the first quarter of 1900 as mythology.. really shows how well informed you are.

The war was triggered by secularist nationalist government they had back then.. don’t see why actual Turkish population should be held responsible for..

Stay on topic, which is video games.. politics and history are too complicated for your likes

Laskin7h ago

I’m not calling it a myth, Turkish ppl say it, you missed the “” part…

anast6h ago

I'm going to sound crazy, but that's probably not what the game is about.

Terry_B12h ago

Is there even one good game created in the Turkey so far?

PitbullMonster11h ago

Metin 1&2 and the Mount and Blade Series are the most known ones.

Michiel198911h ago

Metin ....how dare you name that in the same sentence with the word "good"

Cacabunga8h ago

Crytek says hi.. learn before posting

Zeke687h ago

"Crytek was founded by the Turkish-German brothers Cevat, Avni and Faruk Yerli in September 1999 in Coburg, Germany."

So he's right, Crysis games are not made IN Turkey... ;)

Terry_B3h ago

Just as Zeke mentioned..Crytek is a German developer, created by a turkish guy who lives there, was probably born there.

What I meant are games completely made in the country

MrNinosan26m ago

@Terry
3 turkish guys, not 1.

S2Killinit3h ago

What is turkish mythology? They don't have a mythology of their own. Unless we are going to rewrite history? Can someone fill us in on what mythology turkey has.

Eonjay1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

It could mean folklore, proverb, or even fairytale like Jack and the magic beanstalk. It could even just be lore about historical figures like you even see in American culture like Jonny Appleseed (a real person whose life story was mythologized).

S2Killinit1h ago

I see. I was thinking in terms of actual deities. But that makes sense.

SandDaddy155m ago(Edited 54m ago)

lol Turkey.

Next up Sony will be partnering with studios in Afghanistan and North Korea 😂

Time for a change. Football games haven't evolved much.

Cacabunga1d 11h ago

It’s tough when there is no competition

Abear211d 5h ago

There’s PES and now we’ll have FC25 and FIFA so yes, but it is no longer true, shit is about to get real!

Now if we only had two viable options for Basketball and American football we’d be on to something.

MrNinosan1d ago

@Abear21
PES didn't exist since 2020, and the rebranded eFootball is crap.

porkChop21h ago

If what we've heard is true, the reason FIFA games don't change is literally because of FIFA itself rejecting nearly every pitch for new features and mechanics.

anast1d 10h ago (Edited 1d 10h ago )

The barber shop and roulette wheel are going to be awesome.

Sorry George Miller, but you’re wrong about the Mad Max game

George Miller expressed dismay toward the 2015 Mad Max game recently, but Avalanche Studios' take on the lore is still so good to this day.

Mad Max is a good game... George Miller should STFU.

Old_Scout1d 3h ago

He didn't say it wasn't good. Maybe you should take your own advice and look past the articles misleading headline. Here's the actual quote. “wasn’t as good as we wanted it to, it wasn’t in our hands.” That is all he said about it.

S2Killinit23h ago(Edited 23h ago)

In my opinion the guy himself Is pretty mediocre, so I dont like how he talks as if he’s something special. I dont think he would know a good game if it hit him in the face.

StormSnooper23h ago(Edited 23h ago)

If George Miller had good taste he wouldn’t be wearing those ridiculous glasses.

-Foxtrot1d 22h ago

I think the funny thing is if Kojima made a Mad Max game it would be so trippy and "out there" I don't think it would feel like Mad Max by the time he's done with it. This is why he's better off with original new IPs.

Kojima seems like a buzz word these film directors use because he's probably the only big name they've heard from the gaming industry.

Wretchedstain1d 17h ago

Article is correct in my opinion, Miller is wrong. That Death Stranding II trailer is bonkers, looking forward to that in itself.

And I agree, unless Mr Kojima wants to change his tune, or laughably, be told what to do, you're right, it wouldn't be Mad Max or close.

porkChop1d 17h ago

Yup, Kojima really doesn't suit Mad Max. Avalanche did a great job though. It looked, felt, and played like what I'd expect from a Mad Max game. I really enjoyed my time with it, and the sand storms were handled incredibly well.

jznrpg1d 1h ago

I think Kojima could definitely make a great Mad Max game.

SubtilizZer22h ago

I disagree… I don’t want to see Kojima do Mad Max or whatever… But I disagree with your take. Kojima is first a huge fan of film. I think saying he wouldn’t be able to stick to the lore of the world that was built is kinda crazy.

I’m sure he would be able to stick to the creative confines of the source material fairly well. Chances are he’s a huge fan.

I’m sure he’s a bit of a”buzzword” sure but I’m willing to bet it’s mutual respect for his work as well.

TheGamingHounds1d 16h ago

I never played it but the recent buzz around Mad Max has piqued my interest. Will check it out this year for sure

maelstromb1d 16h ago (Edited 1d 16h ago )

MM is not a perfect game by any means as it was held back by lots of repetitious, standard open-world copy and paste missions, but the devs SO perfectly captured the world, atmosphere, lore and brutality. It also just so happens to boast one of THE best photo modes out there and some of the most impressive explosions I've ever seen in a game to date. The car combat is of course another impressive standout, both vicious and fun. MM is a game which I have revisited multiple times since its release, and now having just seen Furiosa, I can feel it calling me back again.

There's a ton to love there, but I think you'll pickup on the areas where the devs struggled likely due to reigning in the scope, budget and time constraints, leading to an incredibly fun, albeit uneven experience. Though, as mentioned, it's absolutely a game worth experiencing once, and I truly hope you enjoy it. The game really does deserve a sequel.

victorMaje1d 14h ago

Word for word. Exactly this. A lot of fun to be had in there. A true Mad Max game. Sequel can’t come soon enough.

gigoran81d 6h ago

and the fact that they originally had an American voice actor until everyone kicked up a big stink about it?

maelstromb1d 16h ago

Honestly, Kojima would do the game justice, but given his studio's current workload, it's a bit far flung. I could much rather see Bend Studios (Days Gone dev) doing a Mad Max follow-up. I'm playing through DG right now for the first time and I see lots of similarities between the games to where imo Bend could develop an impressive MM sequel.

jznrpg1d 1h ago

Bend does makes sense. But I’d rather they made Days Gone 2 (no multiplayer of course) as I really like the motorcycle and the hordes of zombies was a lot of fun.

VersusDMC1d 16h ago

While i like the Mad Max game and think it's underrated...i don't know why people are mad at George Miller for not liking the game based on the IP he created. Especially since a lot of people hated it at release as well looking at that 69% metacritic.

-Foxtrot1d 10h ago

I think the issue is the studio was told by higher ups and most likely himself to make something linear yet when they got a first look at it they didn’t like it and wanted something open world

The head guy was basically like “you’ve just hired an open world dev and forced them to do a linear game yet now you want open world which has just wasted a year of development which we could have done from the start”

I think that’s why people are p****** because of the context the lead dev at Avalanche has given us.
