The PlayStation VR is here, and it’s time to wait and see if it really takes off with people around the world.

I agree...everybody is talking about it. Once people are hooked it's not letting go. It's just so easy to use compared to the other offerings.

Gazondaily2768d ago

Accessibility yeah. And it's potential to double up as a weight loss tool.

FunAndGun2768d ago

I am actually gaining weight, those virtual donuts pack on the pounds, I love job!

Amiga-guy2768d ago

News is getting around, My mates son came round to try it, fair to say he left wanting one, he can't afford it, but it will only be a matter of time before he picks one up, things are starting to get very interesting in the VR world.

DigitalRaptor2768d ago

How are you getting weight loss from PSVR?

You're tethered to the box, and not an incredible amount of freedom of movement. You're more likely to lose weight by actually walking round the block a couple of times, and even that's not going to help you lose a lot of weight.

Finally a solution to Americas 'biggest' problem.

The Wii was accessible. PSVR is accessible relative to Rift and Vive, but it's still pretty firmly entrenched in enthusiast territory.

Red_Renegade2768d ago

don't think they're the same.

kraenk122768d ago

That's what you wish for as an XBox fan...it's becoming more mainstream than normal gaming fast, that much is for sure.

TankCrossing2767d ago

One day VR will be more mainstream than gaming. Not with these current headsets though.

As for the first part of your comment, that's devoid of fact, logic or relevance, and makes you sound like a moron.

jp_footy22768d ago

I really like accessibility so this is vr to my mind.

kevnb2768d ago (Edited 2768d ago )

I think it's a good gen 1 device, I usually wait for gen 2 though. I also wish vr was a standard accross different systems, oh well.

TankCrossing2768d ago

Sadly it may be too late for a platform-agnostic standard, VR is already dominated by execs building closed platforms. The PC community do push back fairly hard (hence Oculus dropping their constroversial DRM and allowing their games to run on Vive), but I suspect PSVR signals the end of that battle.

On the plus side, the likes of Sony and Facebook investing in VR is definitely accellerating the development of the tech.

uth112768d ago

Usually in tech, proprietary devices come first, followed by ones conforming to a defacto standard. If you try to standardize first, it usual fails because the standards are too short-sighted.

However gaming never standardized on a single platform, and maybe VR won't. Or maybe they will only standardize in the PC space

TankCrossing2768d ago

VR could have gone either way though, as it's essentially display tech that could have become as separate and compatible as a TV.

Oculus is a good example, as that was part of their stated goal until Facebook bought them.

MasterCornholio2768d ago

People with glasses can use PSVR with little issue.

mariopasta60d ago

I can finally watch pron, I mean watch pronouns be pronounced in PC VR games that were previously not available on Playstation.

crazyCoconuts60d ago

be careful not to sprain your... tongue pronouncing those pronouns

Profchaos60d ago

I'm excited for that to plus I can try fallout 4 VR always wanted to play that

crazyCoconuts60d ago

I was lucky and held off on 4 until I played it in VR. It really is pretty awesome - you'll love it.

DaReapa60d ago

The icing on the cake would be if Sony / Valve allow for a Steam Link app much like it is for the Quest 3. Likely wishful thinking, though.
