Them putting it in the commercial is confirmation enough. It wasn't an accident that its in there.

Summons752756d ago

Exactly, it wouldn't be there without Bethesda's knowledge but considering no more details on Switch till 2017 and the PS4/XBO versions releasing next week it's not really a surprise that they can't confirm anything.

Antnee5342755d ago

Why are we not getting any more info till next year?

_-EDMIX-_2756d ago

It wouldn't be the first time a game was cancelled made production despite already being confirmed for a platform

Didn't Electronic Arts or Ubisoft cancel some game or something on the Wii U?

Concertoine2756d ago (Edited 2756d ago )

They cancelled a few games (Crysis3, Ghost Recon f2p, etc) but i cant see them messing up with a reveal video like that. Those games were announced but Nintendo didnt really go out of their way to demonstrate them.

Theres a good chance that wasnt the NX build of Skyrim, but i think its safe to say Nintendo wouldnt put it in if they weren't expecting it.

I think Nintendo might have a deal where theyre holding back announcing Switch games, and Bethesda was just sticking to that despite the video reveal. Idk

_-EDMIX-_2756d ago

@con- okay it was those titles I could have sworn Battlefield 3 was also one of them but I'm not sure there was ever any footage of it.

I agree I don't really think they would cancel it afterwards but to not confirm it might mean the architecture might be difficult for them and they might be holding out for Nintendo's assistance. Most game developers hate having to spend extra time and money working on a company's infrastructure if they believe it's not their fault. If Nintendo was going to use it in their marketing I think it would be a good idea for them to lend a hand if they do know that their architecture is a little difficult and likely costly.

morganfell2755d ago

Ubisoft and EA walked away from the Wii U. This is why a list of supporting developers means nothing until their games hit the shelves. They had declared all in and then walked later saying they would not make any more titles until sales were sufficient.

"Them putting it in the commercial is confirmation enough"

*FACEDESK*

Dear lord. IF IT WAS NOT CONFIRMED YET, THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE NOT PUT IT IN THE DAMN TRAILER! It's misleading, false advertisement. Anything from now to then can happen. Things change.

BrandanT2756d ago

Couldn't it just have been a way that Bethesda will show the Switch support?

miyamoto2755d ago

And that cost the Wii U's credibility.

IanTH2756d ago (Edited 2756d ago )

Could be the case of Bethesda getting their engine up and running on the Switch as a proof of concept, and they decided to use it in the promotional material because it is such a high profile game and shows the Switch can handle a large open-world (even if it is starting to get a bit long in the tooth). This being the "remastered" engine, I'm sure even if they don't release this game their intention was simply getting the engine working for their next release. So it is possible they won't release Skyrim, but I'd wager if they don't have to do much to get it working smoothly and with (relatively) little bugs, then they'll end up selling it.

People might rebuy Skryim for the 10th time just to be able to play it on the go lol.

Either way. Whether they support it or not. The Third Party games that will get the most attention will be the Japanese games.

_-EDMIX-_2756d ago

Agreed because the base unit is actually a handheld I believe it's going to get the bulk of its support from Japan and I don't really think they're going to need that much support from the West to do just fine especially if they're putting all their development teams on one device finally!

Considering it's now going to be receiving the Pokemon games I believe it's going to do amazing in Japan

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2756d ago

Also the fact that this if western publishers does take the Switch seriously then it will be the first game system they actively support that a handheld as well.

PhoenixUp2757d ago

It'd be really embarrassing for Nintendo if Skyrim didn't come to Switch at this point

Liqu1d2756d ago

It'd be more than embarrassing.

DragonKnight2756d ago

Might be false advertisement.

Activemessiah2755d ago

And Bethesda walk away from this unscathed for their part? It's a scumbag move on their part.

EddieNX 2755d ago

It's coming to the switch on launch day. This whole discussion is moot imo...

Onenyte2755d ago

How is it moot , I am pretty sure they stated they are not working on it.

And when was it confirmed for launch day ?

EddieNX 2755d ago

When did they say they are not workng on it? They just said we have nothing to anounce. Same with the NBA devs. No one is officially announcing anything just yet.

-Foxtrot2757d ago

So why add it? With the long list of publishers on that list they must have had at least one confirmed game they could have used instead

Goldby2756d ago (Edited 2756d ago )

to convince people its a home console first maybe.
plus bethesda is releasing the skyrim hd remaster so its like free adverts for it

EddieNX 2755d ago

If you honestly believe that then I don't know what to say. Suppose the othe games shown were all fake also? Get real, The new Mario isn't confirmed but we can see it in the trailer.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory2756d ago

It probably the western publishers doing this. If you look at the Indies and Japanese Developers they are stated that they plan to announce their games or have titles coming and they want to bring their franchises to it while the Western devs all said the same thing "Congrats Nintendo, We happy to be you partner and we have no games coming to it at the moment."

If you expecting western support then might not really happen but Japanese yes. It part handheld. Japanese developers has been trying to create games for home console without sacrificing handheld audience. As you can see with all the PS4 and Vita games. Now they have nothing stopping them. They get two audiences for the sake of one game.

Which going change thing starting 2017. We are going to see a lot more PS4 and Switch combo from Japanese developers and possibly PC/Steam adding into the mix.

sdcard4gb2756d ago

The same reason Sean Murray told No Man's Sky fans all the bullshit he told them - you gotta make those sheep love you somehow :)
That's who they see us as, these big developers and companies :3

eagle212757d ago

I think it's because Nintendo themselves are not saying anything else until early next year.

Fishy Fingers2756d ago

I imagine so. I expect most 3rd party studios will neither confirm nor deny anything until Nintendo begin rolling out more specifics.

Another? ANOTHER?

Is he honestly trying to make out like the last Battlefield was a huge success, not just as a game but as a live service game? I'm sure these guys live in their own echo chambers, they are so far removed from reality or they just like talking out of their arse trying to rewrite history.

Also why say such a tone deaf statement when you know the state of live service games at the minute and how many gamers feel about them. Bigging up the next BF game as live service does not give me any excitement or hype.

This is nothing too new
