Nintendo Confirms That There are No Gyms or HMs in Pokémon Sun and Moon

The removal of hm slave pokemon is actually brilliant.

As for gyms, we will see how this turns out. They have stuck by the same old formula for over a decade, so let's see what happens when they finally do something different.

I mean they're trials or whatever, which can essentially be seen as the same.

Wow what? That's huge. Seems like maybe it's going to be a mix between the classic Pokemon games and Pokemon games like Gale of Darkness. I welcome that to be honest. It'll be a nice change of pace.

I mean.... i'm glad HM's are gone. Maybe this time there won't be a need for HM moves in general because HM slavery sucks big time for me.

Gyms however....uhmm....u wot?

Gyms have been replaced by the trails and people are guessing there maybe 14 trials and they all have battles so that's nearly doubling the gym total. Just like the HMs are replaced by the Ride mechanic. The Z moves don't take up an attack slot either upping some move sets to 5 attacks (though Z moves can only be used once per battle).

So instead of gyms there are trials? And instead of HM slaves we have "ride pokemon"? It doesn't sound very revolutionary to me...It's nice though.

Trails seems to me to be a different name for Gyms, i mean come on the name implies that you need to defeat them in each city/town to continue the story, just like gyms.
