Jakejames Lugo of The Koalition writes: Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice does bring together the charm of platforming with a mild amount of exploration, but doesn’t become anything more than a decent experience on Nintendo 3DS. Based on the Sonic Boom cartoon show with the same characters, Fire & Ice has a similar humor in its story, but also tries to have a classic series approach with its 2D gameplay.
Several Nintendo 3DS games are currently on sale for under $20 with the Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash with Chibi-Robo Amiibo bundle dropping to $17.98, Nintendo Selects: The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D to $13.19, Project X Zone 2 to $17.99, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice to $16.24 and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call to $18.49.

Was hoping this game would be pretty good but instead it has fallen a little short of my expectations. Hopefully Sonic Mania will be better when it drops in 2017.
