With sales of Nintendo's Wii U having been eclipsed by Sony's PS Vita, what does this suggest for the Kyoto based hardware giant?
Years after being discontinued, only a single Nintendo Wii U was sold in the month of September, being the first one since May 2022.
Dude… if this mo fo was really in use for his “industry” hardcore analytic ability… the focus sure a f would not be this shallow and irrelevant. Wow.
I remember when this foo Mat was stating “games he worked on”, rather than games that came out while was working in finances for said studio.
Industry leech.
"Only" I think you mean new sales record 1 new Wii U sold.
Seriously though good find getting a brand new console from a retailer no less. I brought my Wii U last year second hand and I'm not in love with the controller but the core system was excellent I have homebrewed and use it as a emulation station and a pro controller which actually runs fantastic.
Plus you can buy Wii U games for dirt cheap as the demand isn't there right now but like all retro systems it's inevitable demand will come back around especially given only 13 million systems are in the wild and the actual handheld gamepad is a requirement which is going to be a problem as you can't use the system without the pad and there's no third party replacement
The renowned Nintendo Wii U appears to suffer from a memory error that occurs if the console is not used for long periods of time.
Whoops. Makes me concerned about my dusty old Wii U. Time to bring it out the attic.
Nintendo already discontinued support & repairs for it too, so even if you wanted to get it repaired, you can't. Well, not officially anyways.
Yeah I think I’ll just not check on mine so I can think of it like Schrödinger's Wii U
It’s broke but also not broke in the box
Why didn't the PS Vita get more love again?
Not sure if the Nomad and Express should be on this list. Meaning that while they were portable, they didn't have their own games and instead relied on the same games the console hardware used. Neo Geo pocket, Lynx, Vita... those are dedicated handhelds with their own software library.
If criteria is simply to just allow for handheld gaming then the supaboy should be on there as well.
The Nomad should have never been made, that big cartridge on the back. Sega was throwing out money. I thought the Lynx was solid. I never knew about the Turbo express though
I didn't know it wasn't always ahead of the Wii U.. It launched 9-12 months earlier than the Wii U did.
Why are we comparing the Vita to the Wii U? Wouldn't a Vita - 3DS comparison be more apt here?
"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild failed to meet my expectations as it looked painfully average" - the author lost me at this point.
"With Eurogamer publishing a damning report yesterday on Nintendo’s hardware sales figures, according to VGChartz, Sony’s PS Vita has finally outsold Nintendo’s Wii U worldwide, with the figures stated below:"
Vgchartz lol ***slow claps***
And the point is what, exactly?
A handheld outselling a home console is the norm in most cases. They're being targeted at two different markets, so I'd love to know how this comparison was even fathomable. The Vita launched before the Wii U and it has always costed less. Again, what is the point of comparing the two? How about you compare the Vita to the 3DS? They're both handhelds, they're both going after the same market, THAT'S where a comparison needs to be made.
People already called you out.
I personally have no opinion on the new Zelda. No one can have a legit one even cause nobody has played the actual game yet, however, dishing it of as "failed to meet expectations" without even playing the game shows that you are not an author on anything. The argument works both ways. You can be excited for something or not impressed by something but believing the full game not to withhold to your standard without playing it even for 1 second just makes me go "wha?"
That said, I think it looks promising. I love Zelda Link between Worlds (and I can say that because you can actually play this one and fairly judge it.
But what is the point of this article anyway? Compare the 2 least selling game things? What's the point?
It's an unfair comparison. Slow news day?
